QUOTE(vey99 @ Apr 4 2013, 11:26 AM)
I did want to be an architect until i saw the course fees, duration of course, and the crapload of work that need to be done lol.
i do mock ups of my design in Lego Digital Designer. If it seems to work, i will go into detail and do it.
I render the design using LDD2POVRAY and POVRAY software. it takes forever on my PC, but a simple 800x600 jpg takes about 1 hour to render.
I then export the design file to Microsoft Access using a tool, to determine the parts i need.
Then masuk excel, order piece by piece via Bricklink stores. This is the longest and most painful process cos no one has exactly what i need. I think for my Penang house i ordered from more than 5 stores over a period of months.
it probably would be more popular if i wrote in proper english and bothered to take out my dslr but with a family, all i can carry around is my compact camera.

You've made a great choice there LOL.
Oh that's a lot of work! But i'm sure all your efforts paid off. Cos you're the only active MOC-er I know and I wish I could do the same with lego bricks but I haven't got supplies.

I'm trying out bricklink, putting each item in my wanted list and getting notified every 2 seconds it's starting to annoy me. I really don't know how to work this out. It's a tedious process, very tedious.
but I really wanna buy the parts for my "project". It's faster using excel, but i don't know how to do that; listing all the parts in excel to upload to bricklink. And, I don't know what Microsoft Access is for LOL.

I always looking for moc kaki to chatting ideas.

I dont use the Bricklink wanted list, i manage the parts myself.
I have a few stores as favourites who sell bulk parts, so i buy majority from them.
For the remaining pieces, no choice have to buy a few pcs, add in a minifig or two to make the purchase worthwhile.
You should install Lego Digital Designer to try out your ideas. Then if you want to build, export the file to MS Access (database program, comes with MS Office Pro).
Then from there export to excel and u will have a list of all d parts you need.
From there u can check out which seller on bricklink has most of the parts, order from them lor.
Or maybe, send me the parts list so when i order i will order for you as well if they have.

Care to share what idea of proect you have? Custom Modular?

I actually slowing down that theme. Lol. Maybe 2nd wave will turn up the heat again.

For me the theme got more and more detail in their design, for example their X-Wing and Y-Wing.. It looks better and better wink.gif I wonder will they come out another Death Star or Imperial Star Destroyer? I already booked one so if new one come out then sure I get disappointed and buy again laugh.gif

OMG. Gone for 2 whole days and so many things happened here! LOL.
Good morning big children!
mate, you must really love her. either that, you're scared of her, cos you're letting her dictate your every move. i'm sorry if this offends you, and i don't mean to pry. But it's your hard earned money, you choose how you wanna spend it. And it's not like you don't spend any on her, she's a very lucky girl. in fact I would guess that you spend most on her and kept only some for yourself. I would understand if she is your wife. Maybe she wants it all for her, that's why she's nagging so much. She's lucky you're not wasting your money gambling or on booze and other women. You're just buying Lego & toys. She's got no right to dictate your spending. I'm a girl, and even I think however she's treating you is wrong. Again, I'm sorry, but i think if it's too much work, and you can't be yourself, and too much sacrifice, it's just not worth. Or she'd better be your one in a million or something.
*
Well, I start to get sick of her attitude already recently... getting bossy-ier and bossy-ier.... I balik when, with who, can go, cannot go also need to get approval, yo. Everytime confront her.. she just angry angry throw tantrum and dun talk... at first I still try to pujuk, lately I got sick of that... very tiring if I have to keep pujuk when she throw tantrum out and about for nothing

You all talk like that. Makes me think twice about buying "Star Wars: The Complete Saga" Blu-ray. Scared it will be massive poison.

Almost bought the Set # 9493: X-Wing but managed to resist.

Need to stay away from Star Wars. It seems like never ending story - the universe is too rich and it's still expanding. Even more when Episode VII comes out with Justin Bieber as Luke Skywalker in flashback scenes.

I probably need to stick to something that isn't as merchandise heavy. Batman theme is already a killer and I'm thinking of starting LOTR. Lucky I only like Fellowship Of The Ring (Two Towers and Return Of The King not so much) so if I do start LOTR, I'd probably skip next waves.

Of course there's the modulars and who knows what else. Have a thing for Knights as well....... and at one point I was considering the Dino theme.

Custom modular yes... maybe some apartment buildings. most importantly right now tho i want build the cafe corner... I know chaud advised me against this but i'm gonna substitute alot in terms of colours, probably change the whole colour scheme, so i'm hoping it will be a lot cheaper than following the original colours. if it works with the cafe corner, i will try rebuild the other 2 retired modulars. instead of buying ngam2 the parts, i order a bit extra la for most common parts, so while doing the CC i can also keep stock for future MOCs.

maybe i need your help for parts smile.gif or sourcing parts or bricklinking...

i love food and restoran, one of my future projek is to do a restoran moc
i did my food street (mini) moc also here:
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/343128

recreate the cafe corner is gonna be costly in both time and money, but satisfaction is key point also. i havent gone into modulars but i know there is huge variety of brick types. it might be less painful to buy the cafe, then buy the extra parts you need.

here is something to inspire you

omg, this is sooooo coool!!! retired set is very expensive even though it's really simple one.

if u guys have extra pieces of bricks, can help me build them? hehe.
*
thanks. maybe you can try to search the parts in BL.. the parts used should be quite common i think... and they are less parts to deal with so chances are can find the needed parts in only one or two stores.

Once you start recreating old sets... you are enter the dark side liao. Prepare ur wallet, set bricklink as your home page.

i hope i'm not! this small set caught my attention while i was buying some battle packs last year... got outbid in a lot of auctions in ebay and now decided to build one myself.. hehe.. but yeah, BL has become one of the sites that i frequent these days rclxub.gif
