QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Sep 5 2013, 10:00 PM) I just got MY BR ATM card today. Ha..haa. you are going to be suprised.... not by china doll... but just received letter from BR stating beginning of 1 November 2013 there will be annual RM5 fee per year... The BR officer told me the ATM card is only charged for one time fee for RM 8.00, no more annual fee. My BR ATM card is printed with Kad COOP... I guess maybe we have FD there, so we got special offer for one time fee for RM 8.00..? Thank you so much for the update.. |

QUOTE(TerryCath1028 @ Sep 6 2013, 03:13 PM) The overnight policy rate is an overnight interest rate set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) used for monetary policy direction. It is the target rate for the day-to-day liquidity operations of the BNM. The overnight policy rate (OPR) is the interest rate at which a depository institution lends immediately available funds (balances within the central bank) to another depository institution overnight. This is an efficient method for banks around the world to practice 'Accessing short-term financing' from the central bank depositories. The interest rate of the OPR is influenced by the central bank, where it is a good predictor for the movement of short-term interest rates. In Malaysia, changes in the OPR trigger a chain of events that affect the base lending rate (BLR), short-term interest rates, fixed deposit rate, foreign exchange rates, long-term interest rates, the amount of money and credit, and, ultimately, a range of economic variables, including employment, output, and prices of goods and services which is the micro and macro factors on the economic. The BLR is usually adjusted at the time in correlation to the adjustments of the OPR which is determine by Bank Negara Malaysia during one its monetary policy meetings. |

QUOTE(gsc @ Sep 6 2013, 01:33 AM) I just ended my foreign currency FD. Have to wait for better rate. Last time the rate I bought was 2.916 and I converted it back to RM at 2.966 yesterday.. Ha ha, well done on your $AUD trading.. Yes, I knew you just ended your foreign currency FD. I was thinking to seek for your professional opinion about this foreign currency FD. But never mind, I just placed my 3 months 4.5% FD with Smart Savers this afternoon. Thanks QUOTE(bbgoat @ Sep 6 2013, 08:04 AM) ............................ Yes, I noticed their online system sometimes cannot work..Since our FD is not eFD, the risk on the account should be more on the SA cash. So long as I xfer it out every so often, then I am not worried about it. Their system has some problem (diff to log-in, slow etc) months ago, but recently seemed to be more stable. All the GIRO xfer done no issue so far. QUOTE(magika @ Sep 6 2013, 02:57 PM) ................................... QUOTE(bbgoat @ Sep 6 2013, 03:21 PM) What dolls again When I was in OCBC this afternoon, an OCBC customer service trainee in lobby pissed me off when he insisted to sell me Builder saving plan that I had no free time for it.Here is the brief conversation between me and him: Trainee: Oh..why don't you put money in our saving account that can give your more profits and convenience? Me: Builder saving account? I knew about it. But I am in a hurry, can you help me to proceed my things first? Trainee: Let me explain this to you first before you place your new FD Me: How long do you need to take to explain this? Trainee: about 20 minutes Me: hah..I cannot wait that long.. Trainee: Anyway it will take the same 20 minutes for us to prepare the check for you. Me: If like this, then I go to premier room Trainee: ok ... Then inside the premier room, while my FD was in the middle of processing, one male RM and three young female staffs tried to persuade me quite nicely (including some light flirting..) to buy their FRNID. |

I am glad that the Damansara Uptown brach was not like when I opened the FD. But this is true, I really had this kind of fantasy feeling at that moment, I think this is due to the nice environment, comfortable sofa, the approaching of 3 young sexy and friendly female staffs with short skirts... To say the branch.. no lah, why knows maybe you are the big boss of OCBC..? Maybe you are one of the sexy female staffs le..? |

Placed a 3 month FD at non-negotiable rate at 3.65% in Bank Rakyat.
Was given a white small towel and small tool box that contains a small scissor, nail cutter and other small tools as gifts. Will need to go back one more time next week to collect the FD cert, quite troublesome.. Also saw one Chinese woman placed FD there, but she did not know what a PIDM was.. QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Sep 6 2013, 10:44 PM) Ha ha, well done on your $AUD trading.. I made 10% return on Aus$ FD. Was told that the additional 5% on foreign FD will end on 10 Sept. will open Mega Saver next week before promotion ends. Yes, I knew you just ended your foreign currency FD. I was thinking to seek for your professional opinion about this foreign currency FD. Ocbc staffs also try to sell FRNID to me. But since I was burnt by Public Bank capital guarantee structured fund before, I am not interested in investing into any simialr product...on the surface, it sounds attractive but I am sure there are T and C unmentioned... my other 5 years structured product is performing at 118% after 3 plus year. A wiser choice is to capture the gain now instead of waiting for maturity (5 years ) as it will dilute the return. But to stop now, there is a penalty clause..the person who sold me the product is no longer working...the current colleague also not much helpful in answering questions.... My points is they are only interested to sell to get the commission and 5 years is a long period, it is better to stick to the FD.. |
