One of the factors is the drop in Australian currency, and shares.

From a fundamentals point of view: mining boom over, Reserve Bank cutting rates, other non-mining industries lagging, un-employment expected to rise, and will likely continue for some time, I'm going under-weight in AU-related funds.

EI Asia Pacific Shariah fund seems to be the worst fund which I bought, bought it since last 4 months, always in red, never saw it in black. I'll monitor it till december and then sell off

Too short a timeframe for UT evaluation IMHO.

that's why i always like to advocate investors to be MY equities funds heavy, especially those newbies. no matter how bad Msian equity market is doing, it will never be too bad for long due to large institutional funds support here.

if you really compare long term performance of MY equities funds (5 or 10 years performance), there's hardly any true regional/global funds that can beat top 10 best performing MY equities funds.

hmm.gif what do you want? short term profit or adding into yr inv portfolio?

cry.gif  rclxub.gif , geee, just realised that while selecting funds for my portfolio on 40%EQ/60%FI,
i focused too much on performance history, Risk rating, sharpe ratio,....
just realised now my content of my 40%EQ are now 85% in Msia EQ 15% global/Asia Eq.
how to reduce?....M'sia Eq looks just so good..
i got kidsave, HSDiv, HSI, HSBal....all these has good solid past histories....but are mostly invested in M'sia Eq
else, global EM, china and others....i should get more to top up my 1 sided EQ portfolio.... are not performing...
what to do?  icon_question.gif

Japanese currency and shares both go through big swings, up and down. Many funds exclude Japan because it is not "emerging" and hence not high growth. But when it goes up, it goes up real quick, and when it drops, it drops real quick too. Not sure what you are supposed to call that.

But for those who already have direct holdings in KLSE stocks, perhaps it's a good hedge to have a globally diversified UT portfolio.

Versus +1.41% for the week, and +9.42% for the month. Depends on what happens next, of course.
