EPF's gross income was RM39 billion in 2014.

To get some indication on how big is 1MXX's RM42 billion debt, then 0% dividend for a year if that was used to bail it out. Not saying EPF will bail it out, just using the income as a comparison.

I really hope and pray that after this 1MXX debt is settled, those responsible will be charged and xyz etc.

Bad investment is one thing is bad enough. Siphoning some of the billions away is another thing.

Sorry, off topic.

I don't understand the statistics.

It's says :-
QUOTE

If the amount withdrawn has jumped in %, wouldn't it mean more people are inclined to withdraw (more) money out than keeping it with EPF ? Why the conclusion is this :-

QUOTE
“The increasing number of applications for flexible withdrawals reflects more members at age 55 opting to stretch their savings longer with the EPF,” said its chief executive offer Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan.

hmm.gif the amount means monies....
maybe less people withdrawn, but those "few" withdrawn more monies compared to previous.
(therefore " the amount withdrawn has jumped in %")
More people are withholding withdrawal.

I think I found their "logic" already. They have the flexi withdrawal, and the non-flexi withdrawal ( lump sum withdrawal) . If the flexi withdrawal amount has increased, then they concluded that the lump sum withdrawal has reduced.

Realistically speaking this is not absolutely equivalent. They must sum the amount withdrawn at age 55 ( flexi withdrawal + lump sum withdrawal ) together, and make a before and after comparison ( 1Q14 vs 1Q15), to be able to arrive at such conclusion.

They have a logic failure.
