with EPF dividend expected to be subdued in the foreseeable future, plus the heavy selldown in almost all markets, is this a good opportunity to shift some funds over to mutual funds using the EPF portal? most are offering 0.5% sales charge and some are even listed at 0%

any good recommendations? preferably non-malaysian funds since we should be looking to diversify anyway.

Max out your PRS RM3000 relief before touching EPF.

PRS can look into CIMB Asia Ex Japan Equities fund.

If you're really looking for diversification, you should consider iLestari instead of EPF-MIS.
It'll provide a capital up to RM 6k max and you're not restricted to EPF approved funds only.

actually my question was a 2 parter, if 1 is true what do we do and you had given suggestions. Am actually deciding if I should take and settle part of house loan since i believe the return will be slightly higher than fd rates in the coming months.
*
i am not expert in these...

but based on my understanding, since house loan interest rate is lower than epf interest in this case (ignoring other investments)...shouldn't it makes more sense to inject more money into epf to earn interest to cover the house loan interest ?

Next year EPF dividend for 2020 will still be higher than house loan min EIR of 3.95%?

I'm kind of skeptical.

hmm..
<thinking out loud>
1. use iLestari to rob own EPF (5%pa+/-)
2. buy PRS, tax relief up to RM3K,
3. If tax is 15%-24%, U straight away "make" $3K *15% and higher, ie. pay less tax $450 to $720
BUT BUT..
must keep in mind all PRS is like Unit Trust - can go up/down
which may be good coz now semi-lelong ma, so give it 5 years or more..

gotta think, draw out plan etc first - dont wanna jump in buta - manage self's expectations

Great idea.

Problem is, monthly withdrawal over the next 12 months (correct me if wrong).

If can one shot take out, RM 6k, can then go into blue chip shares with dividends and capital gains. In 8-10 years time, I believe the RM 6k will easily double.

balls aint crystal & krystal has no balls laugh.gif
when comparing "no risk" with "risk", i assume "no risk" = average of historic 20+/- years.

share with us, how would U compare "no risk" with "risk"?
or crystal balls?

Given the current political climate, it might not be the case anymore. What do you guys think?

in normal times that is true. I just have doubts epf will give higher return than 4% for the foreseeable future with all these withdrawal. Just my opinion.

Is it still advisable to continue contributing to my own EPF now ? read something above about gov is using EPF money to save employer or something like that? .. that means using our EPF money right  shocking.gif

Was also wondering what is going to happen to dividend for this year 2020 .. are they still going to give dividend ? hmm.gif

if not mistaken, the EPF act mentioned must gives at least 2.5% pa.
