Yes now I remember about that London property disposal, that makes sense. Probably tough to sustain the same performance this year then.

hmm.gif they still have many more properties to sell biggrin.gif

Malaysia's state pension fund, the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), has sold its property at One Sheldon Square in London's Paddington Central to British Land Company Plc for £210 million.
The deal also marks EPF's first property disposal in the U.K. EPF, the world's sixth-largest pension pool, also owns real estate in Germany and France.

*
googled and found this.....

"Members who have made a lump sum withdrawal of all savings such as the Age 55/60 Years (opted to withdraw all savings), Incapacitation and Death (by the beneficiary) Withdrawals, will be paid based on the following two conditions:
The withdrawal is made before the dividend is declared (period from 1 January to the date the dividend is declared). Members will receive:
All savings; AND
Dividend at the rate of 2.5% will be paid first.
The balance of the dividend will be paid when the dividend rate for the year is declared.

When is the next recession expected to hit? Does EPF interest rate typically drops during recession?
*
No idea when the expected recession is gonna hit....
but you can check back the historical KWSP dividend rate since 1952 till 2017 and then tally in your corresponding "recession" year to see the past results to determine if EPF interest rate did drop during your "recession" period and by how much too.....

Just to deviate a bit from the dividend, about hereditary claims.

For eg
If a parent passes on, and he leaves the an EPF will of the following
:
Wife 50%
Son 25%
Daughter 25%
However, the wife passes on together with the husband.
a) What documents does the children have to produce to make the claim?
b) How fast does the EPF take to process for this sort of claim?
*
while waiting for more value added responses to your queries,
I found this...

"If a member has nominated more than one beneficiary and one of them dies, only the portion that was bequeathed to the deceased beneficiary will be invalid.
If the member later dies without updating his/her nomination, the surviving beneficiaries will receive their portion accordingly.

Only the portion that was bequeathed to the deceased beneficiary will subject to procedures under the “EPF savings without nomination” in which case priority for the right to claim
the deceased member’s savings shall go to next of kin or appointed administrator of the deceased member’s estate.

If the member has less than RM25,000 in his/her EPF Account, the initial sum of RM2,500 will be paid to his/her next of kin.
The balance will be paid two months after the member’s death

If the member has more than RM25,000 in his/her EPF Account, the initial sum of RM2,500 will be paid to his/her next of kin.
The second payment (not more than RM17,500) will be paid to the next of kin two months after date of death.
The balance of the savings will be paid upon submitting the Letter of Administration/Grant of Probate/Distribution Order/Faraid Certificate from estate administrators such as Amanah Raya Berhad or the Court or the Land Office.

The EPF wishes to remind that obtaining these documents can be time-consuming and fees may be imposed by the issuing authorities"

Thanks!

Meaning that the husband will have to also mention the EPF in his will , that if the wife passes on before or with him, the EPF monies which was supposed to be given to the wife will be distributed among the children.

The letter of probate normally takes a year!  sweat.gif

Wondering how long it takes them to process the other portions?
*
hmm.gif looking at that PDF file....it seems like that condition depended on the amount in EPF too

Does not mention amount.

It only clarifies without nomination this applies
And

If a member has nominated more than one beneficiary and one of them dies, only the portion that was bequeathed to the deceased beneficiary will be invalid. If the member later dies without updating his/her nomination, the surviving beneficiaries will receive their portion accordingly.

Meaning

Wife 100k
son 50k
Daughter 50k

If father dies, and wife dies together, son and daughter will still receive their 50k each. However, the wife's portion of 100k will have to go through the latter of probate which is required for administering the will. Meaning the EPF will have to be mentioned in the will for completion.
*
doh.gif I missed out the word "have will" in your earlier post....
what I meant was, according the PDF...the initial few Ks will be given to the next of kins...the balance will be according to the will
thus it meant,...if the amount in EPF is not much (see the condition for amount in that link) ...

However, is the beneficiary is deceased and nomination was not updated to reflect this, it goes back to the will.

The thing really is this.

I PAID in a sum of money to be managed by EPF for rewards.

I EXPECT that they will distribute the rewards according to the performance.

OKay….they do have a guarantee of 2.5%

THEN HOW MUCH DO THEY RETAIN in order to satisfy the 2.5% minimum distribution?

WHO?WHAT regulation decides this sum of monay retained? Money which legally belongs to ME, the SHAREHOLDER.

NOW if the SHAREHOLDER decides to withdraw everything at 55, HE no LONGER is entitled to the RETAINED MONEY.

IS THAT FAIR?
*
PAID?...bcos we got not choice must pay....
those that got choice by their own free will, are PAYING their money to be managed like the ASNB FP funds should be asking those ...right?

but judging form the responses so far...I think the EPF board are happy to be paying the about the same rate +/-1% year after year
(this I think same for FP fund too)
