A thought (some may say it is STUPID Ha) came to my mind some months ago, to open EPF accounts for my kids who are still schooling. Why? Dividend rate is better than the normal bank FD rate.

Yes, money will be tied up till they retire (some in account 2 they can take out early).

Check with EPF says those above 14 can open EPF ac (not working can also apply).

Like to have your views.

Thanks.

If you're planning for education fund, perhaps can consider SSPN with nominal interest rate of 4%; still higher than normal FD.
You can have tax relief too!

If you are above 60, you can put it your kids savings into your account first and you can withdraw anytime you want. When the appropriate time comes, you can transfer to their account.

Gross investment income (top line only, excl. other income and incomes)
Q1 2016 = RM6.78b
Q2 2016 = RM8.44b
Q3 2016 = RM12.32b
Q4 2016 = RM10.00b (assumed)

Total gross investment income 2016 = RM37.54b

Total net profit for 2015 = RM44+b (payout 6.4%)

So, assuming 1:1 correlation, 37.54/44 * 6.4% gives 5.40% (to nearest 2 % points)

Potential upsides that will be adjusted in a/cs -

Re-valuation on properties (UK) - +RM2b
Reduction in impairments - RM1b
Forex gains - RM0.5b

it will be rm40.54b, leading to a 40.54/44 * 6.4% = 5.9%

Taking into account for other incomes and net of expenditures + Zakat, say RM1b, then you may have = 6.05%

so, the estimate will be 5.8% to 6.1% for 2016.

Good.

My estimate is 5.9 to 6.2 using revenue as well. See my earlier thread.

Our estimates are pretty close, so must be right. Ha.

Hope it will be higher than 6. Even 6.05, I will be happy. Ha.

A bit too far ahead cos need to wait till 50 yrs before you can withdraw something at least. Perhaps FD for now and if too safe, then UT? At least UT can withdraw anytime although a slightly long term investment period is preferred but the best is NO RESTRICTION if you ever wanna withdraw. I would not consider this if my kids are still schooling. SSPN is a better option for younger years.

Noted and thanks.

Already have SSPN, need to look further to find out more.

UT? Prefer to stay away from that with a 999 km pole! Most are there to make money for the companies, no offence to the really good UT companies.

SSPN is not a form of UT?
