QUOTE(mt24 @ May 9 2016, 10:08 AM) So far i participate pm, cimbwa, all rugi kaw kaw. Most rugu is cimbwa. 2H Yr 2015 till now; a lot of hot funds are down....Dun wan to risk any further. Better keep in epf. But think of it this way; We all know that KWSP is heavily exposed to Malaysia large cap and Malaysia Gov Bonds. So, if you participated in KWSP-MIS program, it is wise to choose small cap and corporate bond exposure. This is what diversification is all about. If you have bought into KWSP-MIS that are exposed to Asia-Pac ex-Jp, you will see significant loss, if you see it from a myopic point of view. But if you were to think along a bigger picture, it is not usual to have all the region down at the same time. And if it does, that position will change very quickly. So, to change your view point a little, think along this way: You know that most Asia-Pac ex-Jp fund is down, but KWSP is not. That is the beauty of diversification. Imagine if your retirement fund is 100% in KWSP and for a certain reason M'sia economy were to tanked like Greece (unlikely to happen), your loss would really be disastrous. That is why for long term retirement planning, having exposure to various asset class and geographical region is a good risk mitigating strategy. Xuzen |

Xuzen I hope the nav will increase then i will sell them off back. It is painful to see the nav depreciated tremendously. I think for the time being i will refrain myself from put any unit trust. As long as under najib, i will keep them in epf and get handsome dividend from it. |

QUOTE(mt24 @ May 9 2016, 01:45 PM) Thanks for your insights. When market is bullish, you simply throw a dart, most UTF's NAV will also be on the uptrend. When market is bearish... this is the time you will separate the wheat from the chaff. I hope the nav will increase then i will sell them off back. It is painful to see the nav depreciated tremendously. I think for the time being i will refrain myself from put any unit trust. As long as under najib, i will keep them in epf and get handsome dividend from it. Like now, it is the best to study the behavior of the UTFs. Which is able to mitigate risk better than the other. Money in EPF – but not enough for retirement
QUOTE About 65% of EPF's 6.7 million contributors have less than RM50,000 savings, and can only last five years. The low salary structure in the country was a major contributor to the situation, whereby 89 per cent of the working population earn less than RM5,000 a month, which falls into a lower saving rate for the EPF. “In term of contribution rates in mandatory saving, Malaysia is the world’s fifth highest, but the salary structure does not cause into a high saving number. http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...for-retirement/ |

Employees Provident Fund (EPF) recorded an investment income of RM6.78bil for its fiscal first quarter (Q1) ended March 31, 2016, a 36.21% decline year-on-year compared with RM10.63bil in Q1 2015.
“The first quarter of this year had almost all global equity markets, including the FBM KLCI, recording declines leading to lower income contribution from our total equity portfolio. Accordingly, the contribution of global assets to total income decreased to about 22% compared with 47% last year due to lower capital and foreign exchange gains.” http://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...lls-36pc-in-q1/ |

QUOTE(McD_burger @ May 24 2016, 09:23 PM) Let say malaysia down, are epf still will keep our money? And due to politic issue, our PM use epf money go invest some useless share. I am worry our epf money will suck dry n pay debt for other country. on current clear and present issues...what are the chances of that happens? talking about politic issues...there are many in the majority race is EPF contributors too. will it be suicidal for a political party of that majority race to do that? I would not worry about something beyond my control....like epf money being suck dried? before that can happens most of the goods and food that we buy now will have increased by many %...due to ....which parties is in control of most of our main consumable products? I would not worry because I see minor changes of that happening and also because I cannot say no to EPF. que sera sera.... can you not contribute to EPF? |
