hurm
how to know ar the unifi modem got problem or not? sad.gif
*
UniFi modem = 1. Pick up your UniFi phone, have dial tone or not? 2. Optical LED light red or green?
UniFi router = 1. Can get Internet IP? 2. Your HyppTV (IPTV) ok or not?

If all ok mean TM routing problem. FYI, my UniFi was having problem since 11/5 evening. I'm in Miri, Sarawak.

If the STB means the IPTV device given by TM. No it can't because the IPTV network in on another VLAN segment (600).

So there's no way to streaming video files directly from my PC shared folder or my server?

Hmm, the unifi tv box can stream video from you NAS? I don't think got that feature.
If you want to stream movie from your PC or NAS, consider getting a media player device.

I see. Then the connection will be like this? NAS > Media Player > TV? Without going to the Unifi TV Box?

Yes. Your TV would required more than one hdmi input.

Just to share. In any case during installation they short circuited your power line while drilling. They are supposed to pay for all the damages. Happened to me, fried most of my electrical appliances. Luckily most of my stuff is still under warranty. Total damage is rm1600 (rm5.8k if without warranty)

In order to claim for such damages first u have to file official report at TM point, make sure they create a ticket in their system regarding this case. The TM staff will be clueless but just insist for the ticket so that TM will pressure the installer to resolve the problem. This serve as a black and white proof that they short circuit ur hse.

Finally u can bring this up to MCMC if they refuse to pay. In my case they delayed for 3 whole months till i threaten to report to MCMC, got my payment on the same day shakehead.gif

First please tell us what you expect to work in the configuration you drawn.

Btw, you expect to use the STB to play movie from your NAS?

Since you said earlier I need a media player to play files directly from my NAS, then I think it will be later. But can the STB play movies via the USB port?

1st of all you must understand the STB given by TM is a stupid unit.
it can only be used for playing HyppTV. dont expect it to do anything else fancy. The USB port is as good as used for charging phone only.

Hi i'm new here, just applied unifi VIP5 (forget the name, cheapest package one anyway )not even one month.

my modem, router, phone,IPTV all put in living room while my PC is in my room, in between need go through like 2-3 walls...

and then recently i just bought the repeater because i notice (and some feedback from ohter people) that wifi signal of the default router is ultra sucks. doh.gif

so when i play dota2 right, i choose SEA server which have lowest ping...
default streamyx 1mbps i can get 80-110 ms , but unifi can get around 20-80ms which is good but recently i getting lag spikes and warning disconnect from server few times for this few days... doh.gif

My IPTV is okay , smooth no problem...

so i wonder is router or modem problems? if need get a new one, how much need to budget?

i'm not on 24/7 for router and modem, most of the time on overnight till before i go work, and maybe on for weekend start from friday night till monday morning.

thanks in advance for help. unsure.gif

Looks like Decapic already answer the question on STB.

Your internet and LAN should work fine.

There's no other alternatives. Homeplug is expensive. So, I have to pull the Ethernet cable all the way from living room to my room.
