A word of advice: Get the sea fronting view.... for 2-3 mornings you wake up... its already value for money... .

The garden view, you want can get at any other hotel... maybe I will excite your senses a bit... tonite I post a few pics I took from my room.. .

Another word of advise, If you are going on cheap flights, dont go on Air Asia Go Holidays. Its cheaper to DIY.

Another cheap hotel, can try Aseania, but.... doesnt look that nice...

and if can get a room which got astra(if u are football fan like me or grengo01 here)....that time i went...is err 26th midnite bus...which man utd vs spurs...damn cant sleep throughout the bus....and lucky in KUAH town have 3G...(FYI kuah town is the only place which have 3G *not 100% confirm)

i do agree with grengo...room wit seaview is cool..especially wake up and see it...its priceless...but then if u are student..i do understand the $$$ issue

Technically, Langkawi is safe from Tsunami coz of all the islands that surround it.. Now that I think of it...

but heard lat time around the tsunami do wack a bit part of langkawi...not serious though....jz quite scary u noe...like the tsunami coming....and is midnite....that time...i at mutiara...errr 3am....go walk and drunk beside the beach....if tsunami come....then bye bye.....cuz those receptionist or worker...jz sleep in sofa...if the tsunami alarm really on...who noes.....

Yes, Langkawi was hit but not that badly... I would think the ones that got it bad would be Datai and Andaman as it sits at the tip facing Andaman Sea.

Anyway, lets not fret about Tsunami, Terrorism etc... go there for affordable Kirrin, Budweiser and my favourite Single Malt... and I think next year's plan just perfect... buy some to take to Redang.. then I have double dose of the good stuff! yeah!

U drunk still can walk ah? I tot you would be rolling on the sand doin monkey biz liao...

eh porto malai is nice too for couples ...

but its kinda far from the town la ...but very near to that pantai chenang and zon ... and the aquaria and airport too

can walk....and vomit like hell cuz lying on those suspended bed (duno wat the name sorreee)....swing too much....and vomit.....like helll..but of cuz...not vomit in tose beautiful beach or sea....not bad i can walk to toilet...and .....hahaa
tat time bough heineken saja.......that time i went there...sharp sharp july 14th (hungry ghost day*for chinese)...

all our parent warn us dun go the sea ...blah forget totally ad....

mutiara burau bay/ berjaya even further.....can actually walk to the cable car...if u want lar...

we have bought a package choose either langkasuka beach resort or hotel helang...can any one give me opinion which to choose?

and any recommend of nice and delicious foods in langkawi...oops, strictly is reasonable price....

my chocolate hunt is do around kuah town...each shop has its own good....i buy chocolate+liquor from one shop to one another...too free i guess.....u can try quite near kuah town..there is a shopping mall i think its something call "mega mall" sorry cant give u the exact name mate.....

as for food...hmm...i try rootian (chinese seafood) ....not bad...located at kuah town too....enjoy!!

hotel helang and langkahsuka own by same management...abang adik la..
hotel helang next to the air port....choose langkahsuka then...got beach...although heard there is no wave at all

Billion Supermarket generally has decent price... overall. The Zon seems to sell Hersheys cheaper... liquor, u buy cash there is this shop.. aiya.. forgot the name.. eastern something... they do give discount...

food, Langkawi nothing to shout about... at least nowadays its "passable" 10 years ago the food is horrendous...

hotel, helang would be more convenient... if Langkasuka... for meals alone you gotta drive to Cenang.... sigh... and food at Cenang is two words.. " NOT CHEAP" well not too expensive too... .

liquor got discount?noooooooooooooo......but i survey all over the island....black label and chivas regal 12 yrs....seems the one HARGA TETAP...

Our package include the car is about RM 213/ pax( include the HOTEL surcharge RM 30 when school holiday and RM 15 for auto car), havent include the bus fare frm KL and also the ferry fees...is it cheap or expensive?

i will go when SCHOOL HOLIDAY ,then the island hopping (basic) by speedboat and also eagle feeding which offer by my travel agency is RM 45/ PERSON is it ok the price?

Langkawi.... u wont get lost.. its an island... Langkasuka is pretty near the airport but its about 15-20 mins from Kuah Town. Depending on how often you want to drive to Kuah and how many rounds you want to make round the island. RM30 is a bit too thin... RM40 may be more justifiable.

I think you got ripped off for car rental.... You should be able to get RM140-RM160 for 3D2N for a Sentra 1.6Auto. Cable car ride, you can buy the voucher from Airport Car Rental guys, they sell discounted vouchers for cable car rides. (Are you getting the car rental from Langkasuka? hehehehe... I know the GM of Langkasuka operates his own car rental company as well... . )

Island hopping you can get from Pantai Cenang from RM35 per pax. RM45 is a bit pricey. You dont need the contacts... go around Cenang, there are plenty.... For me I paid RM45 because I took it from Awana, for me, I was thinking of the convenience that we do not need to hop on and off a car with our wet and sticky bodies... just back to hotel room. But if its budget you are looking for, hunt around Cenang/Tengah.. there are plenty.

If I were you. I will just book the hotel and DIY the rest when I arrive and not to worry too much. Just remember to bring more cash. They do not accept CC for car rental and buying things with cash... can negotiate abit here and there...

I have been to langkawi like 10 times already. coz my hometown in perlis so everytime i go back most likely go there. so quite familiar wif the island.
wanna share some tips.

for hotels,
i recommend u all the cheap motels at chenang beach e.g. AB motel, malibest, sandy beach motel, best star motel. so far the best is malibest and ab motel. reason i recommend ths coz this cheap motels is like the heart of chenang beach. it's in the middle of all the hotels in chenang area. so u can imagine la. the best part when u open ur chalet door u can just run to the beach for swim. very near onli. all all the watersports activities ( paraglide, banana boat, surfing... yeah its true... , jet ski.. etc.) all around this area onli. so manay ppl stay here. even mat saleh prefer this area..

why u all say helang hotel n langkasuka better?langkasuka very quiet. not much activities. at night really quiet. some ppl say langkasuka onli for honeymooners. no nite life. helang so far from life. near airport. what to enjoy? all day see plane go up n down?? dun go to helang. trust me. chenang beach is the best place to stay.

so if u wanna have a great night time and daytime full of fun, check in for those cheap motels. and for info, the room is quite good. i rate it like 3 stars hotel. awana is a great pick oso. but not that near the excitement beach.
dun go for those expensive hotels like berjaya etc. waste of money. u can spend on others. but all depend on u la. if u wan quiet very nice 5 star room go berjaya la. wan more, go datai or andaman there. hotel are crazy price.

i would neva go to those hotel in kuah or other than chenang beach. so far chenang is the best. other palces u will have a quiet nitetime. bar there at chenang really nice.

makan2,
seafood i encounter a good spot. try nelayan seafood restaurant. u can always ask the ppl there for direction. seafood really tasty and quite cheap.
but u the location can be confusing. really.
others all i can say, langkawi not for placew to makan2, food ok la but compared to us here, more choises here. but for sure, try the nasi lemak ayam for RM1 each for morning breakfast. area chenang beach. very tasty and cheap.

jalan2,

locals there if u know them and talk to them they'll give u tips on what place to go. usually, tourist will go mangrove la, eagle feeding la, pulau dayang bunting la, etcf etc. those are for tourist.!!!!!
locals there have their own spot for leisure.

try out sotong catching....ask for the locals there how u can.. better ask the boat operator. really2 great nite time. haha.

another great way to spend wif ur gf in island drop. langkawi got 99 surrounding island if u all know. island drop is where the boat drop u and ur partner/ frens at an island and they will come pick u up at agreed time. u can ask for the boat operator for u to go there. dun worry bout the safety eventhough no one there but quite safe for me. try it before. very romantic. just the two of u at the island watching sunset.. WOW!!!! but dun forget brought ur own food etc ok.

another great spot is 'Teluk kawi'. ususally only locals there know this place. very very the nice compare to pulau dayang bunting and others. really untouchable island. same... always ask the boat operator and try negotiate something to go there.

for kaki pancing, can go fishing at the best spot. that one i forgot. but same rule here... always ask the locals!!!!!!! dun go there and pandai2 on ur own. surely u had a normal cvacation like others. this is malaysia ma... and we are malaysians. ask for locals help they sure tell one.

aha i forgot one place. telaga 7 for u all that like waterfall. can mandi2 there. very nice oso.

last time i go, i went for a small spa hut near henang beact. if i can recall, at sandy beach motel. the hut sits just nicely at the beach. i was having my massage wif the sound of the beach. wah..... really is true relaxing. and the price is cheap osos. rm50 for massage 1 hour. u all should try out oso.

langkawi dun have disco as i can remeber but a lot of bar. full range type of bar, i remember go to this raggae bar. very nice. all raggae song. haha. a lot ican tell u. just ask locals there they sure know. but dun go ask older malay ppls la. haha

shopping,
since everyone love chocolate, go buy la those cheap2 choc at kuah.
heaven place for smokers oso. last time i bring back 5 karton cig. through airport. no problem one. kustoms there ask just lie la.. haha. but usually they dun care one. only if u r unlucky. try 'Black Devil' cig. very nice.

hmm.. what else???... one more thing... this is they law of all!!!!!!
dun ever go there wif packages u get through air asia, travel agency or any kind of third party arrangement!!!!! remember this. they surely mark up one the price. end up u pay more. they arrange from u they get commission. u arrange urself, save on commission la.. more clever. one more time, this is malaysia,... we can explore ourself. no need travel agency help ma....unless la u go travel oversea.
go book ur own hotel. get their number by internet and bok ur stay. flight oso book urself. got cheap rm1 ticket. to go araound the island easily rent a car there... usually through agent a nissan sentra they will charge u RM100 over. maybe 140-160. but the thing is, if u go there find urself, bargain the guy, i manage to get a nissan sentra for 90 ringgit only per day. cheap huh!!!!??? a kancil will only cost u rm40 per day. pandai2 cari la ok.
usually at airport there oso got ppl rent car. so dun worry. just go backpackers. tak sesat punya.. but maybe coz i use nothern slang conversation ... so get cheaper... hahah
then u all go learn the slang la.. haha

one more thing to add.: dun scare to discover the island. go araound rent a car and drive. u wont get sesat. it's an island.. whole day u can finish all the roads there. if u do get sesat. stop and ask la. haha

oo...the car rental not book frm the Langkasuka manager..BUT is we had bought a package when MATTA fair, the package is like this: Langkasuka beach resort 3 days 2 night + 3days iswara car =RM 213/ person( include surcharge when school holiday+auto car surcharge)...so i jes ask is it reasonable? but i think is ok de price because if rent a car at langkawi there for 2 days, it already cost us RM 100 something right? then if i buy this package, i had save the car rental fees lo, is it true?

about the cable car, is it buy at airport there more cheaper? the price offer by my travel agency is RM 13.00, is therec cheaper than RM 13?IF YES, THEN I WILL NOT BUY THE VOUCHER FRM MY TRAVEL AGENCY LO...
