Ooops.. I missed the gem by Joe Krugger... much as I would like to go fishing and sotong catching.. with kids thats a bit tough to do... I reckon it will be really fun! Considering the fact that I was an avid "fisherman" when I was single.

Areas around Payar/ Song Song before it was designated Marine Park is a very good place for fishing. Used to rent a boat with a group of chums for overnighter there. Sotong fishing sounds nice, seen many ppl doing it in the past.

In fact, this time round, I intend to rent a boat to take us to beaches only and not dayang bunting la.. eagle feeding la... I just want more time at pristine beaches. Joe, any suggestions where to start?

as i said earlier, langkawi got 99 island surrounding the main island.
the boat opertator surely know which one has the best beach.
can arrange wif him privately. suggest u ask him to take u to Teluk Kawi. nice beach. pristine untouchable. go at morning and u can enjoy the scenery. beautiful.

for sotong catching, i remember chatting with this pakcik boat operator and he tell me if i'm not mistaken, around may-july is the best time to go.
that is the sotong season. i maybe wrong bout the month. u need to check back.

bout fishing i remember asking him bout the price. if u were to go just 1 or 2 person it's not worth it coz u need to rent a boat and it's very2 expensive. a group of 5-10 ppl would be good.

one more thing to add.
for chocolate, cigarette shoppers, through my experience comparing and findings,
'Ismail Group' outlet is the cheepest. loacation in kuah. but can't describe exactly the location. just a bit near the jetty and a bit near bella hotel if im not mistaken.
if u brought a group of ppl go in there, ask ismail, the boss there for discounts. he's the one at the counter wearing glasses.
last time i buy 1 carton dunhill for RM42 at his shop while others sell 44-46. same goes for chocolate. his shop is the cheepest around.

one tips by the locals there. dun go at langkawi when the time those pak arab season (june n july) coz school holiday over there...and summer time (maybe july/august) forgot la....for mat saleh. prices for everything are rack high. even u bargain oso can't get much less.

Some established hotels do hv Karaoke & pubs wth live bands...But frankly speaking those Karaoke/pubs will be damn quiet and u might end up alone inside the karaoke....if these is clubing u mean hmm.gif ..sorry too old for this thigy oledi.. biggrin.gif ..Langkawi is about duty free shoppings & sight seeing...clubbing might not be a good idea there....For clubbing..Southern Thailand resort Island of Phuket, Ko Samui, Phangan & probably Krabi are the choices.....lotsa ducks/ casanova/gigolo there too... drool.gif drool.gif

nothing fancy there... u want clubs, KL is much better... i guess you need to get something straight... you go LGK for beaches, idyllic lifestyle, bottomless boozing and mindless frenzy shopping for duty free items... not clubbing.. maybe birthday at a secluded beach will be nice.. smile.gif drool.gif drool.gif

oh yeah.. tell me bout it.. : drool.gif

A thought on going to Kuala Perlis/Kedah via bus from KL.... my two sen worth: Travelling will cost you 2 whole days... a waste if you ask me... if you plan and book your hols earlier... a flight to and back is about RM120/pax including bus from KL Sentral to LCCT and back) and it saves you 2 days and you arrive fresh and ready to rumble and when you get back you are less fresh and not ready to rumble instead of dropping dead (if you go by bus)...

Bus will cost like RM70/head round trip? Ferry ride?

Huh..now interested on clubbing huh...There are lotsa of those open air pubs, closed do Agogo 1/2 naked & totally nude bars & etc at Phuket (That's 10yrs ago), now probably less hmm.gif hmm.gif ....However something closer to Malaysia...u can taste mini Agogo bars at Bukit Kayu Hitam neighbouring Thailand town of Danok!..just crossed the border & walk to the bars.... drool.gif drool.gif much lively than Hatyai! drool.gif ...1 day excursion tour to Danuk & hatyai possible from Langkawi! drool.gif

Yes agreed wth u that taking AA to Langkawi is cheaper than Bus!....All my Langkawi trip only cost me ~RM100++ per ticket (Both ways)....much faster & cheaper than driving or even taking a bus!!

ahhhh.... then it will not be holidays in LGK anymore....

Theoretically, if one is still single, just book those tix on AA when they have free tix or cheap tix.... then plan your hols around the dates you booked. I find that flying instead of driving or taking a bus is more convenient and time saving esp when one has to take leave for hols, even if it means an additional day here or there to obtain cheap flights... its better spent on holiday then on travelling. AA has done wonders for tourist destination... they are almost full even at off season period which is good for businesses at the tourist places.
