Hi guys, i am new to turtles and tortoise, i am planning to set up a turtle tank (1.5ft) with basking area, a basic and simple setup for a turtle but i cannot decide which type of turtle i should get. I saw some long tail turtle at the aqua store nearby my house, they are selling it at rm10/pc so i'm wondering if this type of turtle is easier to maintain for a beginner like me? Or if you know any other type of turtle hatchling that i should get? I have a pretty low budget at rm50 a turtle. Please advise, thank you.

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ May 17 2013, 03:45 PM) I think could be same case as mic_tcs's Leopard !! Hi Sifu SAMPERTH,From the picture you attach - I could only see growth line on the plastron !! Cheers Thank you for your comment.. This star has splayed legs. Plus growth is only 0.4cm since July 2012. Very slow compared to my other star. You mean she has fused scutes??? Confirmed she is female? Tq again.. |

[attachmentid=3444162]Be it the long-tail type ( like in picture ? ) or the green type turtle ( RES ) CHOOSE wisely - actively moving around ( observe for a while , ask shop to feed them ) - digits, tail all intact - nothing extra on shell ( discoloration on shell ) Start with a healthy one and all else are easier !! QUOTE(mozambique @ May 17 2013, 06:00 PM) Hi Sifu SAMPERTH, I only suspect it may have fused scutes as only picture of plastron show growth line and not on the plastron picture .Thank you for your comment.. The splayed legs could be from anything - MBD , shell not growing properly .........etc I remember you got it when it was big already ? Could be from previous owner !! Cheers |
