3 days ago, i was called by upgrade department about my area supporting 8Mbps and i say yes
with 2 days with no action, i send an e-mail to CS and they reply that the order has been cancelled because can't support...WHAT?
how can that be?
*
laugh.gif Almost same with my case but I am lucky when I phoned to CS they send technician right away.

I not sure I am actually supported or not. Maybe because I treat the technician nicely laugh.gif

I subscribe when the thing just launched.

Well I guess in the beginning their instruction to staff is not clear, even the technician called 5 department to get my port activated.

I may be lucky icon_rolleyes.gif

Same here (am also an 8mbps user).

I was also one of those selected for the guinea pig trial a year ago (around March-May 2012), they provided an Android OS IPTV box (made by Huawei, customised model for Telekom), the test was for about a month, after which we had to complete a survey and return the IPTV box. They also provided a D-Link ADSL modem (same model as for those on 4mbps package then) which we got to keep for free, together with RM150 Aeon voucher, if we completed the survey and returned the IPTV box.

The IPTV box use our existing bandwidth or they do have separate VLAN tagging or etc just like unifi

The IPTV service worked quite well when I did the trial last year and that time I was only on Streamyx 4mbps. The only problem is there could be slight stuttering of the IPTV if you are downloading files from fast servers. Also, for the trial, there were no HD channels (any HD channels were downconverted to SD first).

For the trial, the IPTV box used our existing bandwidth, can be hooked via LAN or wifi to the ADSL modem. I think there's not much bandwidth to spare in an ADSL connection. Also, for the trial, IPTV is enabled (via some login access control) for both the IPTV box and also for web access from a PC. I remembered having the IPTV box tuned to one channel while my laptop was viewing another channel, both ran smoothly but I suspect (from the picture quality) the one for web streaming has lower bitrate.

Not sure whether this Hypp TV roll out this time will be different from the trial. Well, I will also find out in a few days' time when I go get the box.

Picture below is the Huawei IPTV box which I got for the guinea pig trial last year, with the remote that has an "air mouse" function. Only problem is I have no idea how to hack the Android OS to accept apps installation, I think they locked it.

If this is the device, it is very premium and even premium than Unifi's.

Anyway, I saw RCA, it did support HDMI right

Yep, it has HDMI (cable was provided also), but I did not try that since I only have that prehistoric TV next to it. If they give out the same set again this time, it will be good!

A picture of the carton...
