QUOTE(maxcheam @ Apr 23 2013, 08:38 AM) unfortunately, this doesn't work either. Confirmed that cron daemon isn't working when the issue happen. I tried to start manually using command "/etc/init.d/cron start but got an error: It seems that BW 2013.04.04 is much stable after all ?crond: invalid number /dev/null I decided to revert back the command in /etc/init.d/cron: start () { loglevel=$(uci_get "system.@system[0].cronloglevel") [ -z "$(ls /etc/crontabs/)" ] && exit 1 mkdir -p /var/spool/cron ln -s /etc/crontabs /var/spool/cron/ 2>/dev/null service_start /usr/sbin/crond -c /etc/crontabs -l ${loglevel:-5} <-- Was commented out # service_start /usr/sbin/crond -c /etc/crontabs -l /dev/null <-- Currently commented out this } I'm able to start cron after that. Monitoring in progress. |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Apr 23 2013, 07:57 PM) The new flash messed up those configuration I guess you didn't clear those settings when you are flashing a new one What are instructions meant for ?Please do a full reset Flashers ( modem and routers not human ) need to read the instructions before attempting any flashing. The author already mentioned clearly the 30/30/30 reset before performing any cross FW upgrade, For system upgrade compatible image to replace the running firmware upgrade like from Barrier Breaker > Huntsman , the 30/30/30 reset need not be perform. |

Preparing the Router
To make sure the router accepts the new image correctly we must reset the router to its factory default state. Do not skip this step unless the router is new, fresh out of the box. This step is only taken if the router still contains the factory firmware. It is not needed when upgrading a router that is running the ROOter firmware. Do a 30/30/30 hard reset of the router. Make sure the router is powered up. Press in the reset button on the back of the router and hold it in for 30 seconds. Continue to hold in the reset button and disconnect the router power. Keep holding in the reset button for another 30 seconds. While still holding in the reset button, power up the router once again. Hold the reset button in for another 30 seconds, and then release it. Let the router start up normally. Upgrading the Firmware from Factory to ROOter With the router reset, unplug it from power and hook an Ethernet cable from LAN 1 on the router to the network port on the computer. Power up the router and wait for it to boot up. Use your browser to access the web interface of the router at the default IP Address and log in with the default User Name and password. For most routers the default IP Address is 192.168.1.1. Check your router's manual if you are unsure of the default address. In many cases the default User name is admin and the Passowrd is also admin. Again, check the manual if unsure. The example used here is the TP-Link MR3420V1 but other routers will be very similar. Navigate to System Tools and then to Factory Defaults . <<<<<Source>>>>> |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Apr 23 2013, 08:37 PM) This new firmware looks very interesting, gonna get my MR3420 RMA immediately Huntsman need to do reboot via 192.168.1.1 if connection freezes on my Mr3420 BUT on 1043ND which i put it on all night long streaming sky.fm do not need manual reboot Currently my router only got 1 working antenna Maybe 1043ND supply 1.5A of power and this overide the need to do manual reboot via 192.168.1.1 abt the antenna thingy, why bother , just LAN cable and its more stable too |

QUOTE(Wahroonga Farm @ Apr 23 2013, 09:24 PM) Dairyman has made 3 new builds with the DDNS, Time Sync and RNDIS driver removed. What abt 1043ND ?All other Huntsman features are intact. The build is completely up to date with both SVN and packages being updated this morning. There's a brand new Luci GUI. This limited test release fixes the Keep alive function Try it and see if the stability problems are improved. QUOTE(maxcheam @ Apr 24 2013, 12:56 PM) I've shared this before but here I go again: so a "new virgin image" ?Assuming you just flashed your router without keeping the previous configuration to Huntsman 04-14 or 04-19, edit the following file after - /etc/init.d/cron to be exactly like this one shown below. Note the # sign in red: start () { loglevel=$(uci_get "system.@system[0].cronloglevel") [ -z "$(ls /etc/crontabs/)" ] && exit 1 mkdir -p /var/spool/cron ln -s /etc/crontabs /var/spool/cron/ 2>/dev/null service_start /usr/sbin/crond -c /etc/crontabs -l ${loglevel: # service_start /usr/sbin/crond -c /etc/crontabs -l /dev/null } Do a restart after this. No need to add any additional scheduled tasks but make sure you choose either "Enabled" or "Enabled with Restart" in the Modem's Keep Connection Alive option. to be flashed on which version of the Huntsman ? thanks |

QUOTE(maxcheam @ Apr 24 2013, 01:17 PM) correct, that's what I meant, a "virgin" image. Both my 1043ND and MR3420 are running HM 04-14, only MR3420 fakap on me, whereas 1043ND works flawlessly.You can use either 04-14 or 04-19 version. The newer firmware version that Wahroonga Farm mentioned should have gotten that fixed. But, it's only a limited number of models supported. I guess most of you are using MR3420 V1, that is available. Maybe 1043ND have a bigger flash (8MB) , hence less problem detected. |

QUOTE(maxcheam @ Apr 24 2013, 01:26 PM) Booting the routers from cold shouldn't be a problem. the only problem you'll be experiencing without making the change would be 3G connection will not reconnect after a disconnection. Not sure if this is the problem you see on your MR3420. Have you use your 1043ND long enough to experience the problem? My 1043ND session starts at 11.30pm > 10.30am , not even an IP change sometimes............mostly streaming sky.fm classical jazz |

QUOTE(maxcheam @ Apr 24 2013, 01:33 PM) if IP didn't change means it hasn't disconnect and thus, you won't see the issue. It's nice that your 1043ND can always maintain a connection. 1043ND is really good , 8MB flash , triple antenna , Gigabit Lan ports...............but factory FW dun support usb modem, i only got to use it on MF680/E398?E372 when i started using BB and HM firmwares all thanks to our 2 sifu , Diaryman and Wahronga Farm |

QUOTE(chuahcs79 @ Apr 28 2013, 12:49 PM) yeah manually decrease or increase port might help,.. Just increase the port #, you will see "porting changing" , then run a speedtest or load a page, later you can see your Modem Detected with the telco info like Cell Id BUT Maximum QoS is no more shown.but mine doesn't work too after manually increase or decrease port , i use manually setup 3G-wan |

Hi everybody! I've been playing around with my TL-MR3420 v2.1 with OpenWRT for a few months already. I'm trying to make an "ultimate download machine" without using my main PC with this little machine - BitTorrent, aria2, eMule/aMule, or MLDonkey... This is interesting man. All i knoe is that Asus RT N-16 is capable of doing it by default FW, but MR3420 with 8MB of flash memory possible ? Have you tried on a 8MB flash memory TL-WR1043ND yet ? Interesting indeed....... But these TP link routers only have one usb port , how to plug in usb modem and external HDD at one shot ? This post has been edited by digilife: Apr 29 2013, 07:32 AM |
