100mps unifi.

If you are interested to buy an ASUS router, then the models in the range of your package are AC66U_C1, AC58U, AC1200G+ and AC1300UHP. Of course, these models cost more than RM300, but, it is worth for long term use.

No problem on my side. It is just, I didn't use the stock firmware. (Image below as an additional attachment of proof).

hello all sifu
I wonder if I go for ax11000 stand-alone unit or two units of ac86u to cover no dead spot for a double storey terrace ?
Just so I can deploy wifi network camera.

Ax11000 now on Lazada about 2k
Ac86u about 850 each
*
A single unit of AC86U is sufficient enough for a double-story house. I believe. However, if you want more wireless coverage, you can buy two unit of AC86U. Even asus-merlin firmware support aimesh feature. However, according to some users, the feature is still yet to be stable and the developer are working on it.

How do I keep current configuration before factory restore?
*
Only keep your xxxx@unifi<username> and xxxxxxxxx <password> is enough. Don't really need to save the configuration and re-load back again after factory reset. It is same as you bring in the same problem after reset process. Same as, you injured yourself while playing football, and after you recovered enough, you back again to play the football again. Most of router's recommended settings can be found at ASUS's website or a third-party website that dealing with ASUS routers.

According to developer of asuswrt-merlin, restoring from backup after factory reset defeats the purpose of a factory reset.

thank for prompt replying. first time using asus router and having such problems. interesting products

It solely depends on luck. I am using the lower end of AC86U, the AC68U and I am happy with the router performance and still receives firmware updates (for stock firmware - though im using merlin for customization & diversion). My first asus router was RT-N14UHP back in the unifi 5Mbps to 50Mbps. Wait until you try out the other two brands out there. tongue.gif

Using Streamyx 8MBps (not sure unifi coming or not, maybe future go for Unifi Air if stable) with around 12-15 wireless device (phone/tab/pc) connecting to it, double storey house. House got 5 people using 1 active device at the same time.

Please recommend me a router guys.

If you're looking for an ASUS DSL routers, kindly refer here and do check-out the online reviews. I can't vouch the best DSL routers since I am not using them.

Already using DSL-N16. I was thinking, with my current so many devices connecting to it, can I buy another router to reduce the load on my DSL-N16 or not?
*
You can buy another a.k.a powerful router to cope up with your connected clients need and give a permanent rest to your DSL-N16.. If budget is a matter for you, look for another alternative from Dlink or TPlink. While surveying your next DSL router, always compare the specs here. For a better internet experience, always prefer a better router spec even if you're using a (x)DSL connection.

Yeah, thats what I'm planning to do.
Can I put the following next to my DSL-N12U?
1. RT-AC58U
2. RT-AC1200G+
3. RT-AC1300UHP

I check this few quite okay spec. Maybe in the future when UniFi 10MB/100MB I can benefit from it.

Edit: I just realized mine is older model. Not the DSL-N16, is the DSL-N12U
*
Yes you can. My suggestion is to wait till unifi fully arrived at your area so that you can fully utilize the router's you've mentioned above. Refer to this thread.

I know it seems stupid, but I may want to reduce the TX power of my new RT-AC86U as my wife didn't like the idea of having too strong a coverage in the bedroom. Is the TX power adjustment under Wireless Professional tab the only way to do so? Something with Balance, Good, Performance to choose from. From the Wifi analyzer, the signal did seem to be lesser by changing the settings.

If change the area to China will it lower the mW of the TX transmit power too?
*
You can use the built-in wireless scheduler by ASUSWRT firmware. Since 2.4GHz band is has a greater coverage than 5GHz, using wireless scheduler can be a good recommended alternative, like turning off a specific wireless radio transmission (2.4GHz in such case) for a specific duration of time, i.e. from 12am to 6am. Also, adjusting the Tx power is a good option as well. You can use either two of these techniques.

Looking to purchase a Asus router and doing some comparison.

Found that new model like RTAC1500UHT and RT-AC59 have much lesser memory compare to old model like RTAC1300UHP. Should I just get the older model with higher memory? Or latest model just need less memory?
*
Add up your cash to buy AC68U instead. That router considered as one of the legendary router from ASUS that works like a charm.

you ask Asus lol, they mentioned like this https://www.asus.com/my/News/xu24QThvcLHGYJ1a
yours custom firmware, you try official firmware only talk about this
*
I believe the official firmware able to support up to 800Mbps as well. I know because before I flash to merlin, I used the stock firmware. Just merlin fw fits my usage more. The link they give is the recommended wireless router range for your ISP's package i.e. 100Mbps - 1Gbps. For LAN users, if the wireless speed doesn't matter, then the AC68U still a good choice for users like me. Of course if you're a power user, a higher router class is needed to fit the scenarios both for wired and wireless (only if you have a good wireless client to utilize the wireless throughput).

Hi all, Do you think should I get AX56 router for more future proof or AC86 for better performance? I could see the price range is quite similar.
*
The ax56U comes with 1.5ghz (Quad-core) processor while the ac86U (dual-core) comes with 1.8GHz processor. I will still pick the ac86U over the ax56u, but since we're heading towards Wi-Fi 7 era then most likely our home network should be future-proofed as well. My verdict, AC86U (mid - level ac router) > AX56U (Entry level ax-router)
