Hi guys just a question. I text and facebook message alot of my lumia 920. A lot meaning alot.. but honestly my batter is dying in like 8 tomax 11 hours. How do you all fare? Honestly is it the same? Cause its only texting thats basically it.
I am wondering if my battery is having an issue right now. Do let me know guys. Thanks.

That's normal, especially if you're in an area with poor 3G reception. Portico should improve your battery life slightly, given the always-on Wi-Fi connection.

Then I guess that'd be the maximum it can last. I don't do much texts, more so on calls and emails and I can get about 14 - 16 hours in a day which I think is fairly good.

yeah... i remember getting like that too.. the thing is when I switch to power saver it lasts decently longer. Once on the power saver, I will just open whatsapp. So thats the only thing that is running using data. Thats what i am doing now and I usually do that when it reaches like 30 percent onwards.

Few more things u can do, since u type a lot:
- turn off keypad sound.
- turn off keypad haptic feedback.
- switch keypad to normal sensitivity, instead of high.

edited: i think haptic feedback cannot be disabled.

I didn't use Drive + on a daily basis but when I used it, it has never failed me before.

Did you follow all of the instructions? I've noticed that it takes a long time to recalculate the route if you didn't follow its suggested route(and it fails to find me the route to go back while it works well for Waze).

Another thing is that it seems like the suggested route is a bit longer in terms of distance

Did you switch on cellular data when using Drive? Many forumers said Drive works better with data switched off.
Also, in the settings, you can specify to go shorter, faster or balanced (whatever that means); toll or without, etc...
So far, I have no real issues with it.

nope. I haven't even bought a sim card for it yet laugh.gif

how should I say it, there's a road when you can just turn left to reach to the destination faster, but Drive+ shows you the longer way

I guess that I have expected too much from Drive+(imo not comparable with waze)

Yeah, waze is based on actual road usage of drivers.... it's proven data. You cannot go wrong with it. But u need data to use it, no? I don't think it will re-route you in the middle of a journey without data. With data, it's a great app.

Drive, on the other hand, is the a turn-by-turn navigation tool that you can use offline. Re-routing is also done offline, if you stray from the recommended route. Of course, it's not perfect, especially if you know the destination and its surrounding very well. If that's the case, you wouldn't need Drive at all.
But, rest assured Drive can reliably get you to your destination.... try to play with the settings and route optimization.

I was surprised when I selected shorter route, it took me through the kampung road which I always use instead of the main road. thumbup.gif

For drive, I don't quite like it when I took another route and it is not able to reroute(keep say "rerouting" but still it can't find the route sweat.gif )

I guess that I need to add my path at here.com coz at one of the roads, there's a road to turn left but it wasn't shown at the gps sweat.gif

if a road is not present in the gps, then its not yet updated and there's nothing much u can do, but wait for the next update. No wonder u said it couldn't reroute. U will be surprised, some new roads are already updated in Here Maps but not yet updated in Google Maps.

No. Its two different stories.

Road not present: There's a road whereby you can to turn left but the it wasn't present at Here maps

Rerouting problem: while I was at Puchong that highway, when I didn't follow the given instructions, it can't reroute me to go to subang sweat.gif

afaik, nokia's maps has been at the field longer than google right?

For me,only follow drive instructions when i dont know the route, for example, if i want to go to some apartment in gombak from nilai,

two routes suggest me take plus highway, and one routebsuggest me no higway at all..

but i know i can take mrr2, cheaper mah.. Rm1.3 only..

so, i just drive my car with drive on, but not yet set the destination, it will connect to the gps, but with no turn by turn navi just yet cos i didnt set the destination,

when i reach mrr2, then only i set the destination, normally i already add the location to the favourite..

that way, it will save battery also, u can set the drive+ batt saver to off, and the gps will still connect in the background, i can open drive+ without set destination, and push power button to turn off the screen, when reached mrr2 only i will push power button to turn the screen on, anf set the location..

no point to use navigation at well known road, plus it will only distract u during driving.. Drain unnecessarily batt power and only makes the phone hotter..

With the rapid development going on in those areas, LRT construction, redirection of traffic, new roads.... that could be the reason for the rerouting failure. I also heard that sometime GPS cannot differentiate between few elevations, for example if you have multiple flyovers over one another, but I am not in KL, so can't comment on that.

It's a fact that Google Maps has more points of interests (POI) than Nokia's.... and it's easier to find a place in Google Maps than Nokia/Here Maps. But in terms of roads availability, I don't find Nokia's to be inferior to Google's. In fact, if you have been to the new Aeon (Jusco) in Melaka, you willl find that the whole road leading to it is missing in Google Maps, but it's complete in Here/Nokia Maps. And this road has been around for at least 2 years. In some locations, Nokia Maps is complete, in others, Google Maps may be more complete.
