QUOTE(prash @ Dec 29 2012, 05:24 PM) its not just apps. some other basic things needed. 1. For the time being, use Live Tiles.- needs notification center - i would like the mail app to always show how many unread emails. not just how many new emails. - mail app search function. its too basic. i cannot search "from" or "subject" - individual app volume control. i have to reduce volume whenever i am listening to music and then increase again after i am done. - app updates. how to check if my apps needs updates? - better youtube integration - there should an option to show signal bars and battery % at all times 2. Not possible. There's only 1 Live Tile, so you have to decide. Either new mails or unread mails and many people prefer new over unread. 3. True, search needs improvement. 4. Volume profiles would solve the problem. Still waiting. 5. Your phone will check for updates on a daily basis. Look out for Marketplace app, you will see numbers. 6. Not possible. Bring this to Google instead. 7. In my opinion, it's a waste of space. Who wants to be looking at those unnecessary information all the time? There's an app for battery life though. |

QUOTE(yayiyu99 @ Dec 31 2012, 10:24 PM) Bad review on Nokia Lumia 920. Do you agree? 1. Obviously it's thick and bulky. Do I see reviewers complaining Note / Note 2 thick and bulky? Even this becomes an issue, goodness.http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeanbaptiste/2...r-battery-life/ 2. Heavy, yes. It does feel heavy but after using it for a week, it's not longer an issue. 3. I don't claim to be a "heavy user", I do most of my office work with the phone while on the run, documents editing, email, research, messaging and it doesn't feel hot to the point that it feels "overheat". It fact, it's about the same as my L800. 4. Mine lasts a day, from 8 in the morning to my bedtime, with the tasks done in 3. 5. Horrible camera? Now you see how biased the entire review is. And they dare call it a review. Conclusion, it's either they have something against Nokia, or they received a faulty unit. |

QUOTE(fantasy1989 @ Jan 3 2013, 06:54 PM) no harm ..just trying ..bored to the trend and too mainstream ..last time ppl also laugh at android like no apps ..lag etc ..now? ...WP need some time to grow and wait it to be more matured nope ..i am using computer paint ...probably there is some other photo editing apps which allowed convert it to jpg ..not sure http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2652940 Edit: Given the shared kernel, I just fail to see why Microsoft can implement so much on Windows 8 (with all the API) while totally neglecting WP8 (in terms of API for the developers). QUOTE(ashwin988 @ Jan 4 2013, 10:20 AM) Nokia Maps is fanstastic and works as a GPS here without the need to "brut" and root your phone to use the hacked Google maps with Navigation. I'd like to add, on top of that, you get Nokia City Lens which proves to be useful to locate famous landmarks / F&B outlets, something Google maps can't do. Apart from City Lends, offline maps (for the entire country) is also another feature gmaps cannot provide.I don't see it as a deal breaker but a better navigation system then Gmaps at this point. (unless google finally gives us turn by turn) This post has been edited by jonchai: Jan 4 2013, 10:39 AM |

QUOTE(jonjack88 @ Jan 6 2013, 03:01 PM) if you couldn't find the app is becoz u are registered in Malaysia No you do not have to reset. Just go Settings, change Region to wherever available that you want, reboot the phone. Done.you have to reset your phone and register to US/singapore for a better app ecosystem. "yeah currently they put it such a way that malaysia has less apps" lol but after u get that.. wahlah! unlimited download of free songs.. including latest songs into your phone.. Added on January 6, 2013, 4:56 pm QUOTE(crest91 @ Jan 6 2013, 03:02 PM) Exactly, WP8 should improve the search button on the bottom right screen to searching the whole phone content and internet instead of internet itself (and its bing WP7 had it, prior to Mango (7.5). Pressing the dedicated Search button would bring up a search context. They removed it in Mango because not to many apps support it, which made it confusing for users. Let's hope they put it back along with Search Contract Api for developers, much like Windows 8This post has been edited by jonchai: Jan 6 2013, 04:56 PM |

QUOTE(crest91 @ Jan 6 2013, 09:26 PM) Oh didn't know it was once exist in wp7, it would be great if they add this feature back, it makes searching thru contacts, email and apps much easier n faster It wasn't a universal search. It was an in-app search, but I think it was good to have. Not sure why they decided to force Bing instead. |

QUOTE(marauderz @ Jan 6 2013, 10:26 PM) The reasoning was that users had to guess wheter or not when they pressed the search button wheter the app they are using would respond or wheter the standard web search would come up instead if the developer didn't implement the search. Yea, I guessed as much. They could've implemented something like Windows 8 with Search Contract. Those that don't, display a message, done.Hopefully devs will be giving back the ability to extend the search button ala Windows 8's search contracts in the next version. |

QUOTE(marauderz @ Jan 6 2013, 10:48 PM) The OS can't simply slap a message onto another app, there are a lot of other issues you'd have to be concerned with. I meant, display a message saying this app does not support search lolAdded on January 6, 2013, 11:36 pm QUOTE(buffa @ Jan 6 2013, 11:11 PM) Zune Pass / Xbox Music PassThis post has been edited by jonchai: Jan 6 2013, 11:36 PM |

QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Jan 8 2013, 10:14 AM) Even though I think my Lumia 920 is a good phone, I don't find WP8 beautiful. It looks better than WP7, but I still think the aesthetics can be improved. Too many hard corners and sharp edges, especially on the home screen. It seems like the WP team purposely avoided any rounded corners at all in the OS. Although normal rectangles can be drawn much faster than rounded rectangles, I think rounded or squircle like those in N9 look more pleasing to the eye. Well, to avoid yet another round of litigation from Apple, square tiles would fit best. Anything with rounded corners would be a no no Windows Phone's Metro design was based off signboards, and although they provided clear information - I don't find signboards beautiful enough to be emotionally attached to them. |

QUOTE(lastlion @ Jan 9 2013, 07:32 AM) Yup..mine also the battery drained up fast. And I do also believe that the culprit is the whatsapp apps. Might trying turn it off and see how it goes. While this is not to rule out that WP8 is buggy, most things you mentioned seem to point to a faulty phone rather than a buggy OS.btw... Any of you experience WP8 as a bit buggy. I've encountered cases where when pushing back button to go to previous opened programs...it'll stuck at the same program. The flipping animation is there but its still in the same program I'm at. another thing is that the setting sometimes seem to be resetting automatically. It happened to me when setting volume..it'll sometimes go to 20/30. Though previously I've set it to full. And when setting vibrate only..it'll go ring+vibrate automatically. |

QUOTE(KelvBlue @ Jan 9 2013, 02:05 AM) Whatsapp is the culprit. For some reason Whatsapp want to cater to those people without data plan and hack into the Music Streaming API to keep the Wifi connection on after the phone is locked. The side effect is it chew up the battery like a camel and make the phone hot. Not exactly. Even prior to that, Whatsapp is known to kill batteries |

QUOTE(lau2f1 @ Jan 11 2013, 02:21 AM) any 920 user experience with vibrate defect here? lots of other country users are complaining about this issue.. It's not exactly a defect. It's a rattling sound, due to the design of the polycarbonate shell. It sounds weird, yea, but it's definitely not a defect. |

2 freezes on my phone today. One in the morning (or overnight since I left it to charge via cable, it froze over and didn't bother charging) and once more in the car while driving. Anyone else experienced similar issue?
