Sigh.. Not sure I unlucky or what. I got a unit of Super Flower Leadex VII 1000w that has coil whine and it's loud. Thank God the RMA is quick but I had to top up to get the 1300w cause the 1000w and other equivalent is out of stock BUT this replacement unit also got the same coils whine issue...need to RMA after CNY again..

So 2 units of Super Flower also got coil whine issue..

budget constraint then 1st player... alot big brand oem with their factory .. those big brand ditched great wall (as great wall cut corner left right centre)

If you were targeting a quiet operation PSU, unfortunate to say that the higher wattage unit is more noisier in fact Cimaris pointed out its super noisy for the 1300W version

1000W unit at <30db


1300W unit at > 36db


Cimaris also has this to say; "I am afraid that coil whine can be a problem in almost all modern PSUs under some conditions, because of the LLC resonant converter that they use. It is also the combination of hardware, the other system parts, that can lead to coil whine. Give it a go with be quiet! units which usually make sure to eliminate such problems."

Fan noisy I can understand. Problem is I haven't even put in the GPU already got coil whine sound =(

Super Flower is distributed by Sun Cycle.. So they have limited brands that I can exchange. One of it maybe I can exchange for FSP or NCXT PSU..

Super Flower supposed to be good OEM ma like Seasonic. And since bought adi takkan buy another 1 meh.

Its the overall noise level of these PSU while in operation, Im guessing that once the fan kicks in its noise would have drown out coil whine so if you cannot tahan this then a higher fan noise level would be worse in your situation.

In that case, going back to a lower wattage unit will be 'quieter' for your usage (that incudes coil whine & fan noise).

You tried real Antec / Evga / Thermaltake / seasonic / Enermax / acbel / vantec ion / corsair & taiwan's super flower

All 80-plus platinum certified


& silverstone as well

If no, just keep quiet

I read over the reviews but I couldn't find any differences other than I feel like PTM X PRO is an upgrade over PTM PRO?

Yeah unfortunately Cimaris is one man show so he limited resources to how much he can do such indepth reviews plus he also does check out other PC hardwares particularly fans nowadays.

But others (like Anand) pun boleh laa as the most important is knowing the guts what components difference they both using; maybe 1 full Jap caps the other partial Jap caps or something. Another is the fan used. Good luck finding out.

If not, I would say cast your search net wider to find other reviews but might not have done for both as comparison. From cultist list at least its confirmed PTM Pro is A tier grade while PTM X Pro is speculative A tier so make it what you will.

Yeah just ignore him, he grinding here coz his business model of fleecing customers got called out in the other tered.
