Higher wattage PSU does not prolong your PSU lifespan longer. Getting one with good quality does. If budget around RM200, can consider this:

FSP 500W HYDRO K 80+ PLUS BRONZE POWER SUPPLY RM189.00

How about the following?

Corsair cv550
Cooler master mwe550
Seasonic s12 520w
Avf aps r500
Thermaltake litepower 550

I think my psu start failing.
Currently using corsair vs550

The S12II is a very old PSU with a very old design with a group regulated design so I'd avoid this one icon_idea.gif

Budget for the PSU? hmm.gif

Both the AVF and the Thermaltake PSUs are not that good so strike these off your list. The Seasonic used to be a good unit, although it's a very old unit with a very old design so I'd avoid this one as well icon_idea.gif

The CV550 unfortunately is a very new PSU with very little information on the OEM so that leaves the MWE hmm.gif

How about FSP Hyper K 550 or FSP Hydro K 550 (earlier post suggested)

Budget RM200 ish enough.
i5-3570k no overclock
no GPU, using integrated intel HD4000 (occasionally will shut it off if crashes tongue.gif)
1 HDD
1 SSD

Use mostly Ms Word/Excel, may sometimes use for video editing/flash games

Any of them should do the trick, as long as you avoid the ones mentioned earlier tongue.gif

Bought the FSP hydro...and...pc still same 😭

No reaction. No bios. Nothing.
Cpu fan spinning but not booting.
I remember that day updating windows, fell asleep.
Pc was off when i woke up.
That nite i try on pc...it worked, n continue updating windows.
So walk away n came back pc was off.
Reboot n caught a glimpse of bios screen though its empty screen, only the frame.

Sigh.
Guess now either buy new mobo or cpu...or both.

Do they still sell i5-3570k type of socket mobo?
Thinking of eliminate mobo first b4 getting a new cpu.

Yup that's right - your only way is to look for a used one, or get it repaired by Armand666 icon_idea.gif

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4437612/+420

There's a small chance that your CPU is faulty, but that's very rare (unless the CPU is heavily overvolted) icon_idea.gif

Unlikely coz i did not even overclock nor i know how tongue.gif

i even set power setting <100% in the windows to reduce the heat biggrin.gif

Why would you go for a low powered CPU instead? sweat.gif

BTW, there's very little reason for going Intel - you should consider going AMD if you wanted a new CPU+board icon_idea.gif

why AMD?

my first rig was a AMD...cpu blew up ^^
went for intel ever since. peace of mind.

low powered cpu not good? save electricity/more efficient/less heat biggrin.gif or i am wrong?
well i am not a gamer, dont see why need a fast processor....just like my i5-3570k back then...tot was going for some casual gaming but end up din really play games biggrin.gif except some flash games

Better performance, performance per watt, security (see the amount of security vulnerabilities on Intel) and upgradability (the 10th gen Intel chips will require a new motherboard mind you, unlike AM4 platform which can be upgraded to upcoming Zen 3 CPUs with a BIOS update and a CPU swap) icon_idea.gif

Low powered CPUs (i.e. the T models) trade off performance for power efficiency and heat output, and note that T models are generally not sold on the retail market (they are meant for the OEM market FYI) icon_idea.gif

That usually caused by poor quality components. Usually bad motherboard or power supply which you cannot completely blame AMD.

AMD produced crappy CPUs on Intel Sandy Bridge to Kaby Lake days. Its the turning point since Ryzen came out. Intel continues overcharging people for their CPUs these days. AMD gives you better price/performance. You still need to watch what you buy. Some motherboard models are crap.
