Hi there,

I am thinking of buying a PC with AMD 3700X and either RTX 2060 Super or 2070 Super, not getting a cooler but casing will have multiple RGB fans.

Is 650W enough? I do not plan to manually overclock. A lot of bros here recommended Super Flower Gold around 449 ringgit. The RGB version (I assume the PSU fan has colour?) 489.

Is Thermaltake GX1 700W (Gold I think), good enough? Basically my area has blackouts like twice or three times a year, I hope the PSU can last for many years and not burn my pc parts.

Thanks.

More than enough - grab something like the Leadex II/III Gold 650W and you'll be OK. Note that in order to mitigate damages caused by blackouts you should invest in a UPS instead icon_idea.gif

Ryzen 2600
B450m steel legend
2x8gb
1 m2 ssd + 3 x 2tb hdd
old amd 6000 series GPU
Super Flower silver eco 500W

Plan to get an used RX580 nitro 8gb https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/nitro-rx-580-8g-g5

Can my PSU handle it without any problem? Their website recommend at least 500w. Im just a casual gamer

Yes 500w is enough for your system. No issues there. Though the 600w is just tad bit extra. Might want to consider to get that to 'futureproof' should you want to upgrade your GPU in the future.

Your PSU is made by a very reputable company - I highly doubt it will harm your hardware icon_idea.gif

FYI, my Seasonic G-550 has been RMA'd twice and it hasn't damaged my hardware at all icon_idea.gif

The EVGA 500 BV or the Strider Essential 500W should do the trick fine icon_idea.gif

Hi sifus, currently waiting for my Seasonic M12ii power supply to be RMAed. I was told that i'd have to wait quite a while so i'm thinking of getting a replacement PSU in the meantime.

I'm looking at Super Flower Silver Eco 500w. Is there any other better psu at that price range? around RM260, doesn't have to be modular, just need it to perform well.

My rig specs:
i5-2500k (non-OC)
Nvidia GTX 970 (non-OC)
8gb RAM
2 case fans (no lights)
2 HDD
1 SSD

Future upgrades probably adding another HDD.
P/s: I'm from Sarawak so i'll have to shop online due to poor choices in local stores.

Yup should be OK (if you need some additional headroom spend a bit more on a quality 550W/600W unit) icon_idea.gif

Many thanks biggrin.gif . I think 500w will suffice for now.

Theres something that i do not get it.

Assuming i have a shitty psu that outputs total of 460 watt max

Then the stickers write
+12v is 20A

Which means 12x20= 240 watt

Does it means all my watt consumption from mobo proc to ram to gpu all must not go over 240 watt ? Whats the deal then with the 460 watt max?

Assuming all are the same shit model psu and brand and component parts do not matter.
When i choose a psu. Do i choose according to the +12v rail or according to the total output max watt?

If that's a no-name PSU chances that it will never deliver the rated wattage (either only the PSU burns out and leaving the hardware unaffected if you are lucky, or the PSU fails and takes out your hardware if you are unlucky) icon_idea.gif

460W max means the PSU can deliver a maximum of 460W (although it's worth noting that most no-name PSUs won't deliver its true wattage)

20A on +12V means the 12V rail has 20 amps, and from the power = voltage x amp you are looking about 240W on the +12V rail icon_idea.gif

https://www.gamersnexus.net/dictionary/6-psu/47-rails-psu

Yup, most power hungry hardware such as the GPU and the PSU uses the +12V rail, and so its highly recommended to get hardware that stays below the wattage provided by the +12V rail (but seriously, get a proper PSU so that it won't damage your hardware) sweat.gif

Yeap. I am definitely not taking any chances with my psu. Googled its model and nothing shows up... have to kiss it goodbye asap once i have enough money

if you're overclocking your GPU/CPU, you need a PSU with good ripple suppression on the 12v rail as ripple, well, causes voltage ripples can can affect the overclock stability. one instance is Super Flower Leadex III PSUs with overwhelmingly great ripple suppression. the other affordable ones are Corsair RMx/RMi/HX/HXi.
