Um... there was not really anything knew, the whole point of the workshop was to try to get the students to pass the subject. It was somewhat a waste of my time actually. We were given examples of exam papers and then the teacher went around asking students to answer. More like revision than a workshop.

is it weird that i enjoy sejarah more than biology?  mellow.gif

i literally gave up on biology when i studied until nutrition and switched to sejarah instead. at least the sejarah questions were pretty 'dead' and always repeating. for bio, i thought the questions were unpredictable.

maybe because i seriously sucked at bio? blink.gif

no... you are never alone on Lowyat. I personally enjoy SJ more than BIO, except for Bab 8... seriously... BAB 8 vmad.gif Not interested in epic fail government projects.

Dumb Question: for tabulation questions in paper three for all sciences, how do we know how many decimal points to put?
*
umm, for the section 1, it depends on the diagram given(the one where we read the diagram and write down the readings). If the lowest reading is 523.0012, then all our answers must have 4 decimal places. If it is 523.12, then 2 decimal places for all. For section B, I thought we leave the table empty? Well, not sure if this is correct, but it's how I do it.

Yep, I know that. I was thinking more along the lines of if my readings are say, 28C for temperature, do I record it as 28 or 28.0?

Temperature is 1 d.p., so its 28.0

For Chemistry, everything is 1 d.p. except for burette (2 d.p.)

For Physics, everything is 1 d.p. except for Vernier calipers (0.01 cm, 2 d.p.) and Micrometer screw gauge (0.001cm, 3 d.p. / 0.01mm, 2 d.p.)

Sorry for not specifically clarifying those above in the last post. But I had also heard teachers saying about looking at the scale to answer those questions, gonna ask them tomorrow. But for normal scale, its the ones mentioned above smile.gif

I'll get back to some of the queries tomorrow . Very exhausted .

But : I really respect straight A1 scorers from the 70-90's . Especially the pure science students .

Physics 1993 , P2 , SEC B :

Explain the function of a nuclear reactor with the aid of a fully labelled diagram . [9 marks]

I have an old past year Physics book in Malay , which has questions from the 80's to the 90's . Very interesting stuff , especially if you're a Physics geek like me . tongue.gif

Logarithms in simultaneous equations ? Wow .

QUOTE(Critical_Fallacy @ Oct 17 2013, 01:17 AM)
Permutations of 6-letter code in which the letter U & E are side by side: P(6, U|E)

(1) Use 2 letters :: permutations of U|E :: 2!
UE
EU

(2) Use the remaining 4 letters :: order of 4 out of 5-letter alphabet: S|B|J|C|T :: 5P4
SBJC
SBJT
SBCJ
SBCT
SBTJ
SBTC
...

(3) Ways of arranging 4 out of 5-slot code where the inseparable 2-letter U|E is treated as 1 fixed slot and the order of the slots doesn't matter :: 5C4

U|E _ _ _ _
_ U|E _ _ _
_ _ U|E _ _
_ _ _ U|E _
_ _ _ _ U|E

P(6, U|E) = (permutations of U|E) × (order of 4 out of 5-letter alphabet: S|B|J|C|T) × (ways of arranging 4 out of 5-slot code)

P(6, U|E) = 2! × 5P4 × 5C4 = 1200 different permutations icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Can I not use 5C4 instead , and just multiply by 5 ? This yields the same answer , but in proper Mathematics , is this acceptable ?

Thanks for the solution by the way !
