Moving on to the connector - as expected, Apple has moved to a new smaller connector, called Lighting. The new connector features 8 pins and is 80% smaller. It has improved durability and is reversible (no more guessing which end is up!). For compatibility with older cables and accessories, there's an unattractive looking converter.

everyone knows how to get the grey market stocks and everyone knows how we all get it from various sources. We have been discussing about all this tons of times. We have even shared pictures of our iPhone rigs in the previous thread. What else do you need more" biggrin.gif

do you mean that this thread is only for everyone here passing info about rumors over and over again but no one know when it is gonna to happen at the end? I hear that I hear this, but why everyone just sit tide and wait for the real deal. And many of us have certain budgets in mind and reasons of getting the iPhones in the 1st hand. Those who bought the iPHone 1st because we don't want to wait that all. Nothing is wrong with that right? Try look so some places. You can find quite a good deal for the imported stocks

It's fine if they want or intentionally sharing information on how they bought it (via online, walk-in, bookings, etc).
But what I see is that people keep on posting (before and after I joined) "I got mine from SG. lol" or "I bought my new iPhone 5 yesterday. lol"
Oh well, maybe just to add more post counts into their account.

I bought it locally from a seller whom they have an office. I think it is better in the way that everyone not sharing too much info how exactly and where they get their iPhones here. I don't think the creator of this topic will like that either, else, this topic will be flooded with grey market talks? Some pm me and ask me where I bought mind and I shared my info with them. Do pm me or some others, I believe they and I are willing to help. Btw, the sources of selling imported are not too many, you can always go find it out yourself in the garage session

Added on November 28, 2012, 12:52 pmhi, please current iPhone 5 users please help here. I realized that I can't find APN settings in my iPhone 5. I hope it was not due to the set I've bought but it is due to the latest IOSX 6? I learned that it is due to the new IOSX and the manual APN settings are all dependent to the mobile network company that the sim card or their network has the manual APN features available in the iPhone? Can some one please confirm this, cuz I hope it is not just me of getting a restricted iPhone from USA which was told being factory unlocked. BTW, just for the info, I'm using Maxis with a cut normal sim card but not the official nano sim. Thanks for the inputs in advanced!

What do you mean by nano sim is not supported? Is it the availability of the nano sim?

Just refer to the iPhone User Guide bookmark in your Safari, language, calender, language for Voice Control, keyboards, google default county search, date, time & tel no formats. But for Malaysia region format, the language not applicable i guess.

Yes, when Iphone 5 available here, I am gonna get one..........for my own Christmas present and also as my own Birthday present !!! Birthday coming soon.

However, currently I am using ipad 64G 3G version.

Should I get my iphone5 in 16G only or 32G or 64G?

I guess most of my data will still be on my ipad.

So, 16G or 32G enough already???

um i experience the 3G logo on the top left will go away when im making a call. and when im done with the call, it slowly goes from O>E>3G.
only happens when im back in msia using maxis, doesnt happen when i was in aussie using the same phone. so im suspecting its a maxis issue rather than the phone's issue.
also, the phone sometimes has difficulties getting 3G internet connection at regions im sure has 3G connection. rclxub.gif

That's what i'm facing at the beginning too. Was facing very lousy calling connections and no 3G at all in my area (sungai Petani kedah) complaint to maxis but they said its fix and i don't see any improvement at all. in the end switched to digi but they are upgrading their network so the same issue occurs... fml seriously. Damn i miss Telstra so much back in Aussie... go anywhere also full bars with 3G even in the carpark. Here... speechless =.=

anyway hows your ip5 doing? any scratches or dents ?

Take note Nano Sim is not supported @ Malaysia for the moment.

What do you mean by nano sim is not supported? Is it the availability of the nano sim?

Yes, when Iphone 5 available here, I am gonna get one..........for my own Christmas present and also as my own Birthday present !!! Birthday coming soon.

However, currently I am using ipad 64G 3G version.

Should I get my iphone5 in 16G only or 32G or 64G?

I guess most of my data will still be on my ipad.

So, 16G or 32G enough already???

I think 32 for you is best. Not too much and not to little, and you will be sure that it will last you for quite a long time, future proof.

um i experience the 3G logo on the top left will go away when im making a call. and when im done with the call, it slowly goes from O>E>3G.
only happens when im back in msia using maxis, doesnt happen when i was in aussie using the same phone. so im suspecting its a maxis issue rather than the phone's issue.
also, the phone sometimes has difficulties getting 3G internet connection at regions im sure has 3G connection. rclxub.gif
yeah i think this is the best way to put it. i opted for the 64gb one cos i dont plan to upgrade in the coming year so this shud give a peace of mind till the next interesting upgrade. thumbup.gif

I think it more to networking problem, the coverage rather than your iphone problem.

been using it since the first day launched a aussie (21st sept, i think). um the black part on the sides has numerous scratches. and the worst par is, the top power button is pretty dead.
out of 10 clicks, it will only respond to about 2-3 of it.

im waiting to head back to aussie feb next year when my semester resumes to get a replacement. for now, just have to tahan with the phone.

but i think this might be caused by me dropping the phone. dropped it only once but on carpet. not sure if its cos of that. unsure.gif

bro i dont think it has anything to do with where the phone comes from. perhaps, its just unlucky i got one that is faulty. or perhaps the drop spoilt the connection wit the power button abit.

yeah i thought the more common one would be the home button giving way first, but ironically, the power button is the one that is causing the problem this time around. hmm..

New Apples only in 2013

Cupertino firm’s focus on Xmas deliveries, hit by touchscreen supply shortage

MALAYSIANS will have a wait a little longer to get their hands on the latest products from Apple — with the iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad Mini due to be launched here only next year.

While Apple had earlier announced its latest three products would be available in in over 100 countries with 240 carriers by December, there has been no follow-up dates provided.

Even as speculation was rife in several online Apple consumer sites hopeful of earlier delivery dates, several Apple authorised dealers confided in The Malay Mail that any launch date here is very likely to be after Jan 2 at the
earliest.

One source said this is likely due to Apple, based in Cupertino in California, giving focus to meeting orders for Christmas deliveries in its key markets — given that such revenue is a staple among retailers in the US.

Several news reports also suggest Apple may be facing constraints in the supply of its retina display touchscreens — which was contracted to LG Display, Japan Display and Sharp amid the ongoing patent dispute with its former supplier Samsung of South Korea.

All three companies are responsible for the first-of-its-kind retina display, where engineers integrated the touch feature into the display screen, instead of constructing it layer by layer.

In contrast, while the Samsung Galaxy S II had taken more than four months to reach Malaysia, the electronics firm had shortened the local availability date to as short as 27 days for the Malaysian launch of the Galaxy S III.

if this were true, then....... shakehead.gif no way apple!

if 3 main telcos launch together, then i GUESS must be instruct by gov. guess only ...

just count rm118 plan with 24 months contract + 6% gov = rm169.92 (not much what for 2 years. only bout rm7 per month)
3 telcos getting 5k units each nationwide = 15k units (divided to 14 states, each telco only selling 357 units only per state)

15k x rm169.92 = rm2.5mil buta buta ambil saja...

i count on lowest plan rate and unit already..

the S3, the 1st Galaxy Note, and probably the Note 2 (I guest it will be too) are the reason why I've switched to IOS, the iPhone 5 that is. These phones has well proven that Android is very sluggish, you feel it even more annoying when you are used with IOS environment. I'm utterly disappointed with the S3, it supposedly one of the world fastest phone ever made, but the user interface is very sluggish for an unknown reason. Same to the Note, I doubt the Note 2 will feel really fast at all due to the Android environment. Google is putting just too much stuffs to Android I think, it is pretty over do to my taste. I won't go for the S3, I've been years with smartphones, I can assure that the S3 is no way feeling as a responsive phone, surprisingly my S2 was much more responsive. It is kinda joke to me

Maybe your one is one of a kind. My S3 is just fine. Certainly much better than previously my S2. Didn't hear any other users also complaining S3 is much more sluggish than S2 also before. iOS and android both have their pros and cons. I own an iPod 4G, so I kinda know what theirs (on my way to own my first iphone). On the other hand, does anyone here ever buy iphone with plan before from Spore? I only got Work Permit and not Permanent Resident, still can buy or not iphone 5 from any telcos there?

While waiting for iphone 5, I am using a Note 2. Impressed with the quad core speed, as was using Note before, definitely speed is up.
I tell you no doubt Iphone 5 is a good phone, Android has come a long way and Samsung has taken advantage.

S3 and Note 2 are in diff categories.

Note 2 vs S3:

1. no more storage of apps in sd card allowed, hence solve most lagging issues with previous samsung/android.

2. 2GB RAM vs 1 GB RAM. As android OS is quite heavy, which taken up 600MB-800MB RAM, a 2GB is a must.

3. Faster quad core processor.

Thats why most Note 2 users doesnt have lagging issue as in older samsung phone.

Thats why most Note 2 users doesnt have lagging issue as in older samsung phone.

Planning to get iphone 5 with starhub mobile plan but my friend say only Spore citizens and PR can apply. Work Permit holder might have to put some deposit. Anyone buying with plan from Spore before? How was it?
*
My son is on work permit in spore
He never have problem buying iPhone with Telecom plans
No such thing restrict to citizen n pr as long you can prove you have a valid spore address
Extra charges I think is just some middleman earnings
Go directly to telco n not through such agents

Oh, that is really a good news, so my workplace address also can I suppose, aite? I'm not that close to my other coworkers in Spore. Because got a friend of mine also from Msia who work with me there said can't or must put some deposit or something. He said he already worked years there that's why he knows or he thinks he knows.

*
I should not use sluggish, the phone is not sluggish, I should say it is not responsive. And it does not have perfect smooth frame rate during interface changes and transition. I prefer IOS smoothness and responsiveness, it feels much more responsive and smoother obviously

Yeah, about time. I thought I want to play this waiting game, but one rumor after another and there's no certainty it will be even this year I think I will follow others getting the phone elsewhere but Malaysia. Heheheh~ Plus, I really need those data from local telcos when I want to surf the net in Spore. Using Msian line is highly costly.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

My JB friend just told me orders has just said these dates, but like the 2nd nov, 26th oct dates, it could be delayed.

Ya 2 for digi but a few also from maxis if I'm not mistaken. Anyway nobody here cares bout rumor I guess due to unlimited dissapoinment....

the S3, the 1st Galaxy Note, and probably the Note 2 (I guest it will be too) are the reason why I've switched to IOS, the iPhone 5 that is. It is kinda joke to me
*
Actually best android and highest spec is Note 2. Not sure bout S3 but Note 2 is still below is but the laggy is still accpetable I guess. But guess what once I can simply walk in to any digi and grab an iPhone 5 that's when I'm gonna switch back......hope that time my note 2 still can sell at good price.. sweat.gif

My friend helped to bring back 5 sets. No problem at custom. Hand carry it back should not be an issue. To claim back GST, it is depends on where you bought from. You need to get the claim form and endorse by the shop only can claim back at airport.

to test responsive, press home button in middle loading a game or an application, side by side android fastest phone, note 2, s3 or nexus 4, side by side with with iphone 5 or even iphone 4s or Iphone 5,see which one is more fast back to home,

the first comment for people used to ios when they tried android is that android back home very slow, however those used to android slowness does not feels that because they think is normal

that's because after the first press it doesn't react immediately. it waits for the 2nd press for voice command. if u disable voice command then its faster. but iphone still win la. but by a fraction only. i comparing with my ipad 3 btw. maybe iphone 5 is faster i dono.

fully agreed! I mean this statement "the first comment for people used to ios when they tried android is that android back home very slow, however those used to android slowness does not feels that because they think is normal". I'm not gonna support by comparing the speed of both platforms with the home button, but I do somehow also agree that just by clicking the home button the response is very different. This is just a good example that Android takes a little while before any interface action takes place. Also, a lot of people don't actually aware that Android is some how feel slower with frame rates too with transitions. It is very obvious that Galaxy S3 and the 1st Note feel just that way, but probably most users treat it as normal and don't aware of it much

this is really bad but I already treating this as known issue and as normal to iPhone 5. Good luck to those who still insist of having the iPhone 5 naked as their preference. It has now pretty much confirmed that a phone shouldn't be finished with anodized aluminium especially with hard and sharp edges all round, this is real bad. I strongly believe that Apple has learned from the mistake from the responses of the customers globally. We can't blamed that as a design flaw neither, as the intention of having the iPhone 5 with this finishing is absolutely beautiful, but totally not practical and reliable. I personally would like to comment that iPhone 5 is made and to be used with a fully protective case, it is just how it is for the time being. I strongly believe that Apple will change the finishing material again for the coming new generation of iPhone, at least different and harder material on the edges and corners!

Good example for the non-cased vs cased iPhone 5 which absolutely is being an issue to all users. I was thinking to use naked as my current 4s but immediately change my mind after seeing the picture.

I just bought a slim protection layer as preparation to iPhone 5 launch due to I dont want it to have scratch after day one onwards. Good selection of casing recommendation in iPhone 5 casing thread.

having the home button as comparison is unscientific. But with my years of experience with Android and IOS, especially coupled with the A6 chip, it is unarguably the iPhone 5 wins hands down in terms of smoothness and responsiveness. One will start feeling an Android phone to be laggy after some use with an iPhone

ios implements the home button better. this double click to get voice in android is silly. i have reassigned the function to counter clockwise pinch to get voice. iphone no need to proof itself in the no lag department. its still the winner after all this years. but the fight is so close now that is just nitpicking to me.

Not only back home very slow, even opening apps is slow also. On iOS, when you tap on an app, it automatically opens up, on Android, it takes a second or 2 before the apps will open up.

It's not unlimited. Maxis has allowed those subscribing to 1GB and above data 'fair usage' now, meaning if you exceed your data quota you can continue to use it without any charge but the speed will be throttled.

I'm really happy with it! The ear speaker is very clear and precise, but probably not much better than most high end smartphones. But the phone speaker is something I'm really impressive with. "Maxis now if plan above 1gb unlimited data ady"

yes, I can confirm with that! I received a very good news with a sms this morning, that Maxis has no more start charging the user after over the limit of quota limit to all customers with plans above 1gb per month. Only sight effect is slower bandwidth until the next data renew! I've been having border line of 3gb limits for 2 times just over 6 months with Maxis, at least now I don't have to worry if I've really over the limit and being charged with a whooping amount!

Hi guys, just need to check if I can cut my existing sim card to a nano sim and use it for my iphone 5..

yes, it is confirm globally that normal current sim cards with most network providers works with just cutting into right size of nano sim card. But it must be cut with proper measurements and method! I've bought the Nano Sim cutter even before I got my iPhone 5, I've even cut the sim card with the cutter even before I got my iPhone! It was due to my curiosity, if a cut nano sim can be used with my Galaxy S2 with a sim card adaptor. It works! Also, to be confirmed, the thickness of the normal sim card when cut into nano sim size, the thickness does not matter at all. The iPhone 5 sim tray is very forgiving even though it was claimed officially that the nano sim card is thinner than a normal sim card. When I put in the nano sim card cut form my normal sim card, it was surprising that when it sits on the tray, the thickness seems totally unnoticeable even it supposedly thicker. It works just as normal.

It's not unlimited. Maxis has allowed those subscribing to 1GB and above data 'fair usage' now, meaning if you exceed your data quota you can continue to use it without any charge but the speed will be throttled.

Hmmm... Celcom plans has been like this.. But never felt the slowliness when i reach the limit... Maybe cuz its always slow...

sorry, probably I got that question comprehended wrongly by myself, I'm not sure about that, but I was told old sims won't work. But I thought everyone of us must be having a sim card not older than a period which is too old to even support the current network system. All working sims must be new enough to work with 3g and 3.5g anyway? So, my logic is, aren't all sim cards in Malaysia are modern sim cards? Sorry if I've misunderstood something myself

We all know this debate is undying which you could also find in other forums comparing operating system to each other. There are pros and cons. So, we chill and settle the matter about who is the champion.

I'd like to ask to those who are currently own an iPhone 5. How is the speaker quality?

I'm no fan boy and not trying to fight with my argument. But I personally really feel that the Galaxy S3 is way out comparing its responsiveness and smoothness to iPhone. My brother has been mourning on this to, my cousin bro who is currently S3 owner too, he also agrees that he is surprised it does not feel entirely smooth and responsive given that it has amazing specs for a smartphone.

I still have a old sim that used from nokia N95 till now and still works well in the 9900. This sim should be the one to put in my iphone 5 when launch locally. I compared to the nano sim . Even the gold chip is larger so I afraid it cant work after cutting it. New gen sim chip are much smaller as I can see. The answer I posted above is based on what I saw in the picture is the same as mine. smile.gif . Scare later after converting cant use.

I can't tell from it, sorry, I was trying to be smart and explain something here previously. I did not know there are still much older type of sim cards lurking around. But one thing I can confirm that even a latest normal sim card, some of the metal contact area must give way and cut away. But it still work as expected. But I'm not sure with the older sims that is claimed to have larger metal contact

no sandpaper work is needed for converting to Nano sim. Many are still only aware partially of how to convert nano sim.

1. if cut with scissors or a pen knife, try google for the Nano sim cutting template in the web, it will make life close to perfect.
2. I prefer getting the Nano sim cutter, it is affordable and it cuts any sim perfectly to Nano sim. Also, I need one permanently cuz I travel to China regularly and I need to bring along one.
3. it does not need sand paper work at all. This has been confirm over and over again in the web. The original thickness works just fine, perfectly fine.

i used my 4s for 11 months and then i claim a new set from maxis and i sell it off with perfect price. this is what i want the warranty for. maybe you aren't the one who need the warranty, but it's only you. for example, my phone have a wifi problem. i can just bring to maxis and change a new set. for you, you bring to the seller, seller bring to sg, then bring back to KL and only to you. how long you think this process going to be? even malaysia launched iphone 5. your phone is still only able to claim in sg if you owned an sg set.

it will be pretty much the same as long as anyone not buying from Malaysia. It will be costly to send for warranty in Singapore anyway. If warranty is you priority, just sit back and wait, that's the only thing to so for the moment

Where? I didn't see any article regarding this in Soya Cincau. Anyway it's confirmed official, it is already talked about in several Tech sites like Engadget, TechCrunch, Cnet, Mashable and news sites like Yahoo. It is even on Wikipedia already.

it will be pretty much the same as long as anyone not buying from Malaysia. It will be costly to send for warranty in Singapore anyway. If warranty is you priority, just sit back and wait, that's the only thing to so for the moment

hopefully you don't face any problem *if you had an overseas set*, or else you will agree with me and suffer with your days without your phone/your main phone rclxms.gif

Shit, I returned my iPhone 5 to UK store becos I thought it will be launched in Msia on the 14th of Dec. I was worried about the warranty. Actually I discovered hot blue pixel on the camera sensor which showed up in every pic under low light condition.

Was lucky to discover it the other night. If not, bring back to Msia sure andui. Although I was offered a new set, who knows something will go wrong. That's y decided to settle for a refund when ppl said 14th of Dec. Sigh......

And yes, Im going back to Msia for good so warranty is definitely an issue.

Based on past 2 year records , Msian iphones /ipads has always being cheaper than Spore sets ( even after deducting the 7% GST). It is within RM 100-200 cheaper depending on memory size

Added on December 1, 2012, 9:11 amWhy you guys keep thinking 14 dec iphone 5 will be released here ??
If so why until now no official news release yet from Apple
What is so special about Msian market , that Apple do not wish to announce it will be release on mid Dec
So many talks, news release past 2 months of Maxis promo, preorder, exhibition at the shopping malls all turn out to be untrue and all these were attributed to reliable high sources ????
I still think it will be next year , before March 2013 the next round of countries

Do you guys still remember 2years ago iPhone 4 launching in Malaysia and how long have to wait to get the iPhone 4? I get the iPhone 4 2weeks later after Malaysia launching, and after I use it for 3months, it used maxis set I still able to sell it at RM2500 for 16gb. Because there is no stock in market, those phone shop selling new maxis set at 2800 for 16gb.
My point is even launching at Malaysia u still need to worry can u get it on the spot or not?

Base on my performance on iPhone. I using iPhone since 3GS until now iPhone 5. Sometime if u facing some problem, if major problem, at google u may found, if can't solve it with the solution from google, the only thing u can do is restore, sometime bug don't know how to explain, if u believe me, just do it and try few times, if not find your own solution, I am try many way until the end using that only way(restore). I just sharing my idea, accept or not is subject to individual. Thanks.

I also wonder why apple using battery less than 1500 mah in its iphone 5. Maybe maintaining the 4S thickness but increase capacity to 2100mAH .
Then perhaps battery will be promising.

3GS > 4/4S, 20% thinner and lighter

4/4S > 5, 20% thinner and lighter

battery life = same

3GS > 4/4S, 20% thinner and lighter

4/4S > 5, 20% thinner and lighter

battery life =  same

dont you all realise that?

I also wonder why apple using battery less than 1500 mah in its iphone 5. Maybe maintaining the 4S thickness but increase capacity to 2100mAH .
Then perhaps battery will be promising.
*
Key feature in iPhone 5S = 2 x battery life? brows.gif who knows? rclxm9.gif

Anyway, my iPhone 5 can last me a full day with moderate use on Edge / Wifi with 50% left before I head to bed. I think it's very impressive.

Of course, I'm not able to leave 3G on all the time like I did with my Note II. laugh.gif

Yes, I saw that too. Probably for latest iMac. They have stock as I visited them in Sunway yesterday.

But not confirm should their intention is for iPhone 5 or latest iMac. Just my guessing.

It is much better in iPhone 5 (base on review as I dont have one as yet).

The improvement is for low-light condition and image stabilizer during recording.

However, the reports of purple haze in iPhone 5 reported and Apple has officially stated that it is normal. you just need to ensure you place the camera not directly to bright light. By the way, this purple haze is not only on iPhone 5. They are several other cameras having the same issue.

Overall, as a comparison with iPhone 4s, there is not much different as they both are carrying 8MP with the similar sensor. But it is among the best mobile phone camera in the market, for sure.

Yes, very good news. The launch is imminent to be on 14th Dec week. I am here not to give confirmation on anything related to launch but more to sharing.

A friend of mine who is working in Maxis Sunway (not the branch but office in Menara Sunway) is scheduled for an event on 14th Dec week. He mentioned it most likely to be iPhone 5 (he was involve in every iPhone event since iPhone 3Gs). He doesnt want to confirm as date may be change.

So, take this as sharing and NOT confirmation of any sort of iPhone 5 which some of us will blame whoever that share any rumors of the launching.

For those who are using Black iPhone 5, do you use it naked? I was told by some sellers that rear screen protectors could not fit well on the back due to the anodized aluminum material. Anyone who came across that? I'm currently thinking whether I should remove my transparent casing and use it naked.

P/S: I'm a careful user tongue.gif

Is the side band very vulnerable to scratches? Especially when you go mamak, put on table, etc.

When put on table the sides x kena pun.
But i once had this hard casing which i put on. When removing, bloody lot of side shavings got carved up. I thought it was badly scratched but it was back to normal after some polishing.
basically can say just like the iphone 4/4s sides.

I've actually used my black iPhone 5 for weeks now. And I'm actually a very rough user, tend to leave it on tables, pockets with keys and I even dropped it on solid ground (from table height) a few times before but there aren't any scratches or scuffs at all so far.

I'm using my phone totally nude btw no protector casing bumper. It's a Singapore set.

So I guess sometimes its all depend on luck I guess regarding the scuffgate issue.

i think it will work, just saw in wikipedia (yes i know not so reliable, but its worth mentioning) that the A1429 model of iPhone supports 1800mhz, which is listed there on the wikipedia page. smile.gif

heres the link

other countries used 1800 as LTE, where as Malaysia allocated it for 2g, and 2600 for LTE. In short, its not going to work.

For the 64gb model, you can probably sell it at around RM2000-RM2300 if the condition is good.

Key feature in iPhone 5S = 2 x battery life? brows.gif who knows? rclxm9.gif

Anyway, my iPhone 5 can last me a full day with moderate use on Edge / Wifi with 50% left before I head to bed. I think it's very impressive.

Of course, I'm not able to leave 3G on all the time like I did with my Note II. laugh.gif

I been living with EDGE on iphone 4 and 4S , and SBSettings is a must have to toggle on off whenever i need it.
So far iPhone battery only can last me for half day.

Sensor is just part of the story (and it's not really the same sensor though). iPhone 5 ISP is upgraded from the H4 in the iPhone 4S. Expect better stills and videos with iPhone 5, although iPhone 4S is still good enough to make you feel not missing much.

True. Just to be clear, I never said the sensor is the same. It is similar with minor improvement especially for low-light and the thinness of the sensor. That is improvement I actually meant. Hence, it is similar to 4s but not the same.

If anyone would like to get better comparison of 4s and 5 camera, perhaps can visit to this link:
Link: http://www.imore.com/iphone-5-vs-iphone-4s-camera

I am looking for a better processor to capture images at faster rate in iPhone 5 compare to iPhone 4s. Nonetheless, hope to see some announcement by telcos soon so that I can put both of my iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s in garage sale thread smile.gif

But quite a different than previous ROI as there is no selectable session on when we would like to attend to collect.

As previous years, there are different sessions where they only allow certain number of people during a session which is good I think to avoid any congestion and disappointment should the stock finished.

Hope this year would be the same.

I still have not receive email notification after the registration of interest. Quite strange. Am not sure if I am allowed to register once more but doubt that it will complicate the system.

Feedback from others who have registered? Did you immediately received the notification email?

I do agree ROI is important which most of us browsing this thread has done it. Venue is also important for me especially as I need to plan transportation as I prefer to rely on public transport plus the launching also is midnight if following to previous events' tradition. Maybe my point not relevant to everyone about the transportation but more into who is lining up first kind of deal. You come early earlier, you leave the congested venue earlier. Just my opinion on the venue matters importances.

Good advise. There will be counters selling casings and SPs (this time I saw PopMyApple banners on ROI page) in-house. I am not sure should they have any promotion or even worst take advantage to increase their price.

I have ordered Ozaki and expected to received by next Monday the latest. Additional leather case as well smile.gif

Haha..just a pre-caution as I plan to not have any scratch on it. Get the set and immediately put casing and SP. No headache of scratches later. Not to say it is easily get scratches but I feel I need it protected since I am not a very careful user. Huge risk smile.gif

he is right. in celcom official website there is no mentioning about ROI.
relax bro, asking question doesnt mean he like to be spoonfeed.
we share almost 1000+ pages with links and numbers of article and now is thread V4 already
how difficult is it to share one link? its just simple copy and paste.

First time smartphone buyer here, so I need to ask you pros here some things.

How can I pre-order the iPhone 5 from a Maxis (if possible)? Will the registration of interest (ROI) ensure that I will get my hands on the iPhone 5 A.S.A.P?

If there is a way to pre-order, than how I going to signup for a plan?

And will i be able to retain my old number (hotlink) if i sign up for a plan?

Any people here can share your experience and procedure of buying smartphone from maxis to me?

Ok let me rephrase, "First time smartphone buyer from telco", happy? sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

And I have had a 3GS (bought second hand), an iPod touch 3G (bought from Apple store) and a Galaxy S1 and Galaxy S2 (both hand-me-downs from relatives). All sold and only have the iPod Touch now.

And btw, since when do we have to own these smartphones just to compare them and find the right one for us? Almost everyone in my network have friends have smartphones (a Galaxy S3, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy W, Xperia S, HTC One X, iPhone 4S, 5 are among some phones they use), you can just pretty much get a feel of those phones by trying them out (when you meet them almost everyday). You can also know their toughs by listening to their comments and opinion on the phone they are using.

I can only share my 4S buying experience :

ROI was launched roughly 2 weeks before. Registered and got a confirmation email later on (not on the same day). Received sms for venue confirmation etc on the day of the launch (since it launched at midnight aka the next day).

Registration starts before midnight, went to the venue and confirmed the colour, capacity of the Iphone. Get number, wait for your time slot. Once your number is called during that time slot, register for the postpaid plan, pay and collect your phone.

Don't think there's any issues with retaining the number, but you can call the Maxis CS to confirm that part.

I've been with both Maxis and DiGi in my iphone 5, now currently with DiGi previously Maxis here's my personal views on both telcos

Maxis:

Pros :

Faster internet speed
Better call qualities

Cons :
3G coverage in my area is totally... no comment
complaint to customer service but still no improvement
expensive bills. (but currently they are pushing out new internet plans to compete with digi and celcom)

DiGi :

Pros :
Almost everywhere i go has 3G coverage.

Cons :
My goodness lately with the network upgrade... the call quality is beyond cow's poo i have to say
even with the internet speed is vmad.gif
keep on getting dropped calls
have to restart my iphone everytime from E to 3G (but i suspect this has to do with ios 6 cause i saw some other users complaining this issue as well)

All I can say is no one is perfect for those 3 big telcos. But i think will give Maxis another chance when their LTE is up and running. I've just asked their customer service over at maxis listens and they've confirmed the iPhone 5 will work with their LTE networks

Finally IP5 is coming to Malaysia thumbup.gif congratz to every iphone lover rclxm9.gif but I think the stock is limited, that why i go for SG set IP5 for RM2499 from a shop in my area, warranty is not a problem for me,because within warranty period if my phone having any issue, the shop can help me claim the warranty thumbup.gif I decided to share my experience with my IP5 with all the people here who are waiting for IP5.My last phone is HTC sensation, even with android 4.1 project butter, the OS still very sluggish,i think android will never be as smooth as IOS,in the past i am a diehard android fans, after i got my IP5,I had to admit IP5 is so much better for me,IP5 is totally smooth, app store in ios also so much better than google play store in android,my bro is also a diehard android fans,he currently using Galaxy S3,I can feel that he already start falling in love with my IP5,furthermore,many people love customization, included me,and android got a lot of customization, but no matter how i customize, its just look very cheap for me sweat.gif yet IOS UI is very polish, looks pretty good although it doesnt have much customization and the UI is very simple, but i still love it very much, because as long as the UI looks good and polish,i think it unnecessary to have customization,Lastly,IP5 camera is super clear! The design and build quality of the phone is really good thumbup.gif But the EARPOD actually quite sucks sweat.gif

*
So ROI doesn't ensure that you will get the iPhone one day one?

and will other postpaid plans like the SurfMore plan be available on launch day? Or must we only signup for the iValue plan?

Let's put this end ok, whoever succesfully registered the ROI will never get the confirmation email. I'm not sure when we will get it but just constantly check your mail box will do, or keep on hanging here in this forum for the first hand news, cheers biggrin.gif

From my experience, it does. After all, the only thing I did was register for the ROI. My name was in the list when I went to the launch venue. Not sure if they'll add or change the process this year...

Only the iValue plan was available for the 4S launch. The plans were made public before the launch so you can compare amongst the carriers before deciding to get from whom. So just register first, wait for the plan details and then compare.

The iPhone 5 now supports DC-HSDPA, with download speed up to 42 Mbps. Maxis has implemented DC-HSDPA in many areas now, and I wonder if anyone notice any significant speed increase over older iPhones, which supports download speed only up to 14.4 Mbps.

He mean the newer DC-HSDPA which support 42mbps download speed that the Iphone5 have. Older iphone 4s only support HSDPA which is only 14.4mbps download speed. DC-HSDPA that Iphone 5 have is the main reason i will get my first Iphone soon.

Official pricing for the Malaysian market has yet to be announced. We would expect it to be similar, if not the same as the 4S’ price when it was first launched:

* 16 GB – RM2,190
* 32 GB – RM2,590
* 64 GB – RM2,890

4S definitely slower due to limited to 14.4mbps speed. Max I can get at several 42mbps maxis hotspot is only 7mbps. Note 2 is the same as 4S.

I cut my normal old sim card using the nano cutter. straight become a nano sim, no need to cut it to micro sim, just direct to nano. a bit polishing then it works.

I have ROI for iPhone 4s event. I can say it is guaranteed that you will get the set.

They will provide confirmation email of your selected color and capacity. During the queue, most of the Maxis staff will help you to register which package you want and instantly update to system. You go in the hall to pay the the amount and collect the phone. It is very fast (at least during my session).

However, that was of experience last year. Not sure this year how would they arrange and conduct the sale.

Oh, I am talking about Maxis ROI

I tot we could select which branch we want, and when we want to collect it... I guess I was wrong...

Also I just called the customer service and he told me...the ROI is only a survey not a pre-booking or what. Still u need to get it during launch on first come first serve basis. What surprise me was the next one..."Dont worry the demand is not as high as the galaxy note 2 based on his experience". I said, this is surprising for me....puzzled...

It shoould be same as Spore . Anyway NONE of the Msian telcos support 1800 Mhz as all are confirmed 2600 MHz. Support of 1800 Mhz is still all talks and at last media conference NONE of the telcos even want to talk about 1800 Mhz availaibility
So basically forget about using the LTE features here

Am happy even if it is true cause no need to hassle too much to get what you like for yourself...

2 things for me on why Iphone 5 (most important than other aspects)

a) Would still be the fastest around in performance not of spec
b) Would still be having the best OS compared in terms of user-friendlyness....

Unnecessary questions should be removed. Keep this thread useful for iPhone 5 users and potential users but not comparing it with other brands or share the dilemma you have as you read others' thought in few articles.

If you want, go get it. If you dot want, dont blame it. Easy life without complication or arguements with other forumers. I dont like to check new post only to know that 'should I buy iPhone 5 or Note 2?' Sort of question. Wasting time.

For those who already have iPhone 5, may I know if lightning cable can possibly cause scrathes to the area of charging port? I am planning to take black.

what do u guys think about the bundle/package TELCO will offer?
Will it estimated to be equally like previous TELCO plan price or should be expecting improved in value or plan but increased in price term because of LTE ?
