I do not have much financial knowledge but would like to try out UT. I have created a FSM account for myself for its lower sales charge. So I plan to just contribute a bit to it every month (my spare cash).

I was told by friend to start of with KGF first if I want.

Is there a suitable time to buy or I can just buy it now and park my money there?
*
KGF is a "reliable" fund to buy based on its historical past performance on many, many years.
KGF is focused on Malaysia market.....
is Malaysia mkt ok?

unknown to how much % you wanted to invest in KFG in terms of investable money.....all I can say is it is a good start up/entry fund to buy...later then create a portfolio of funds to diversify.

since you had already had a FSM a/c...try call them for guidance?

How much usually the service fee through agent? 4%, 6%? I mean generally if I invest a lump sum amount via unit trust agent.
*
Regular charges run from 5.5% up to 6.28% if you're using an agent.

If your lump sum is above 500K, and low transaction volume, we can go down to 1.5%.
For large sum and high transaction volume, we have an alternative pricing structure.

5.5% ~ 6.28% of the invested lumpsum?

Means if I invest rm100K, then the fee ranges from rm5,500 ~ rm6,280, right?

Yes, that's correct. Which is why larger volume investors will opt for an alternative pricing model, or invest in structured investment products instead.

Sorry, forgot to mention that 5.5-6.28% is for equity/balanced/allocation funds. For fixed income its usually 2-3%, and money markets are 0%.

ABF Malaysia Bond Index Fund, a fixed-income fund, today submitted a proposal to the Securities Commission to increase its approved fund size from 1.5 billion units to 2.25 billion units.

The fund was set up with the objective of offering investors an index-based approach to invest in a portfolio of ringgit-denominated government and quasi-government debt securities.

UOB Asset Management (Malaysia) Bhd (UOBAM Malaysia) has launched the United Trigger Equity Fund to offer investors capital appreciation from investing in a portfolio of Asian equities and equity-related securities with short-term growth potential.

The closed-end equity fund had a trigger feature that aimed to return all proceeds to its investors when it achieved a level of seven per cent over three consecutive business days, it said in a statement here.

The fund adopts a bottom-up approach to stock selection, picking companies based on their fundamentals, and is suitable for investors with a high-risk appetite and short-term investment objectives.

It is currently available for subscription at United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd branches nationwide until Jan 31, 2016.
