IKEA cabinet is fixed cubical width, so if you need customized width to fit the cabinets into place, i think you cant do it with IKEA

It is our right as customer because we the one who pay after so long save some money..I don't like to deal with someone pushy..they only care for their business deal to be close asap regardless of what can make us satisfy..I appreciate my money because I'm not rich person..so every single penny I belanja..must worth it..I rather do not do any deal with such a contractor or sales person who only care about their profit and commission wise...haha..this is just my own 2 cents.. laugh.gif

That's why love shopping at Ikea. I can even order the display kitchen cabinet from the As Is guy before it was dismatled from the show area. That's how I get my cheap kitchen;). It's just that sometimes a bit malu also of my indecisiveness.

My 2nd Ikea kitchen. Posted this in another thread, and sharing again here. Still without tiles though. Everything inc the 80cm SS sink, plus installation about 7k as I bought a few cabinets from the As Is. Bought the top mostly from As IS and during sale, 126 cm for rm60 only. Porcelain sink also from Ikea but bought earlier. Ikea no longer sells porcelain. Think I got a cheap kitchen.

Pragel white stone effect. They disposed off all of the 126cm size, that's why I got them very cheap. Budget too tight to get the solid top. I used Lagan wood top on my first kitchen at the old place, but lazy to maintain. Ripped that off and changed to Pragel before renting out the condo. I love wood, just lazy to maintain. But I'm going to get Numerar oak for my peninsula. My next project is combining Udden on one side (so I get the stainless steel surface for kneading dough) and faktum and the oak for the other side as breakfast bar. May look ugly depending on which side you look at it, but to me it's practical and most importantly cheap. Love the Sternstop island but I'm not very sure of kneading dough on wood. Am going to get the same guy who assembled my kitchen to do that. Is that too much infoa from an Ikea freak?smile.gif

ah i see..

if that's the case, i guess IKEA cabinet has nothing wrong except it is fully melamine frame. I wont advise to take their solid surface or any solid surface outside, probably it is just me but solid surface is pretty easy to be damaged, u can check IKEA solid which had gone through so many sabotage by daily customers, scratches are pretty noticeable. I suggest can get the cabinet base and find granite supplier to install granite on top. rclxms.gif

I think KC maker outside also outsource the granite table top to thirdparty supplier because the SA mentioned to me, after they install the cabinet, instead of saying "they" will come and take measurement, they SA said "the table top maker" will come and take measurement

really no problem to custom size the ikea things. just a bit of work if you need a 35 cm cuboard instead of 40 cm cause you will need to make the door smaller. but it can be done. also they have filler pieces and stuff so you can get it almost like custom fit.

I'm planning to buy ikea kitchen with solid wood tabletop. Do u think solid wood last longer? Understand by outside kitchen designers that solid wood tabletop does not practical in Malaysia due to warm weather. Pls share your thoughts..😊

IMHO, solid wood tabletop is only just to show off. If you always doing heavy cooking, avoid putting solid wood in your wet kitchen. Plus solid wood top really need to put effort to taking care it like oiled it every once a year and so on.

Not sure about Ikea solid wood top quality but I really like the walnut wood. Stain it darker, it match with white acrylic door perfectly.

They do sell the filler piece but it is instead called as cover panels. It comes in fixed sizes so u haf to cut them to the desired size. Do refer their faktum buying guide.
