her pocket also have to fit the budget lar....

if deep enough.. can actually fly to US for vacation... at the same time go and visit uncle parlee to make a custom carbon frame.. hahaha

note the extra emphasis on "deep enough"..like 20 thousand feet under the see sort of deep...someone told me there is a parlee z5 sl in malaysia and the fella spent in the region of a McLaren Venge on the bike... carbon cranks and stuff...

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 4 2012, 10:11 AM)
either allez or caad10. caad10 another level up. allez still excellent choice. these two fellas always come up when i read online forums discussing bikes for crit racing.

like doper sez... it's not about the bike... it's about the dope..sorry, meant muscles

QUOTE(mrjgx @ Dec 4 2012, 01:24 PM)
hi, anybody here rides a tubular wheelset? the weight is tempting, i'm talking about mavic ultimate wheelset..around 1100 grams plus only..that's featherly light! quite cheap compare to zipp though. even the spokes are carbon blade..broke one spoke meaning have to replace the whole wheel i think.  blush.gif

but browsing on youtube it seems that it need almost 3 days for gluing it. Is that for real?? what happen if you are out riding a long distance ride and you got a puncture? Bring extra tubuluar, and just bring the sticky tape (like double tape) only and that's sufficient eh?

and what about having to damage the vavle, put a teflon, for the valve extender for zipp wheels, seems complicated enough..

*
Mavic has a crash replacement program called MP3...don't laugh about the name... not so funny if you are left with an expensive broken wheel...don't cost cheap as well...

Mavic MP3

Mavic MP3 price

you have to check if your side has it?

to glue tubular properly... yes it will take 1 day if you are patient.. even the quickest ones will still require couple of hours for the glue on the base tape to soak in and dry up... depending on the glue used... you still need to wait at least 30mins for it to dry if you are super urgent but that mostly compromises the gluing process to the rim... maybe wet glue on wet glue don't hold together well... not sure the exact reasons...

for emergencies.. spare tubular is up to you... but you can opt for caffle latex or stans no tube sealants which can help seal or slow down the leak depending on the size of the puncture hole... road side repairs can use tubular tape, but that is only to get you back home... if you start doing motogp style of banging into corners.. you risk rolling your tire and then crashing...

Added on December 4, 2012, 2:03 pmif you want to gripe about 3 days waiting...

gripe about this...

julien devries waits 7 years for dopers tires to mature like fine wine..but then, those tires are non-vulcanized tubulars which are super expensive...

http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/02/bik...of-aging_160921

it's available here.. for RM1.2k per pair...

haha. yea, not a chance I'm going to use tubular in that case. too much of a hassle, and it's best suited for racers with their readily available mechanics to do anything for them.

Just wondering if any of you riders here are using tubs, well I guess all of us are using clinchers.

but waiting for 7 years? like a wine? that was freaking crazzzy..1.2k per pair? that's outrageous. Not for a rich man who can buy anything they want though.

Wiggins was here in Dubai couple of days ago and in the auction for his TDF yellow jersey, it was sold for 55,000 dirhams...woot. almost rm52k and that's RICH.

OK back to trolling session guys. lol
*
you just need patience... and some perseverance... that's all...tubs need not be non-vulcanized, normal ones would do just fine unless you have millions laying around un-used...

RM52k for a smelly jersey... not a chance in hell...i might give 52k if it was Scarlett Johansson's worn panties...

i guess so.. the ridley noah fb is like 4k USD... with Di2 DA easily another RM7k...then the blardy 3T cockpit is easily RM3k upwards (already RM20 k already)... the wheels is not going to be cheap, zipp like price and other miscellaneous stuff...+ the factor of big meat cleavers in UAE... i think it's around there...

KL, maybe a bit above RM20-25k lar...

blardy eagle eye... hole or no hole... we all get the damn meaning can adi lar...

either the owner bluffed me of the price or the costs is totally different in UAE and Malaysia. He told the bike as standard would be roughly around 40k...with all the upgrades he'd done it close to a whopping 90k.

Hard to believe but that's the cost as told by the owner. I can buy a Porsche with that price..that's roughly a price for a Porsche Boxter year 2008 (here in Dubai), to drive a Porsche in Msia is like dreamin only...  laugh.gif

already give you too many things for RM4k (from park tool point of view)... must buy yourself...

maybe one of the tool is actually a light saber... you won't know... or laser cutter.. you won't know too...

and when you are asleep.. the box will transform into optimus prime and play with your bike...you won't know that too... RM4k for a bunch of mangled metal... it must be capable of doing something out of this world...

or maybe you can open the box lid and pull a bunny out of the box??? who knows...

by bunny, i mean this bunny...

because multiple champions rode it... contador for 2010 tour and 2011 giro which he both defaulted and even schleck when he won his 2010 tour by default... schleck brothers also rode a spez to podium in 2009 along with young rider classification...spez took top 2 placing at le tour in 2010, 2nd and 3rd in 2009, 2nd in 2011...

in 2010, 2 teams uses spez bikes... astana and csc.. remained the same in 2011... in 2012 increased to 3 worldtour teams with inclusion of omega pharma... only bike manufacturer ridden by more than 1 team in the grand tours if i am not wrong...

...then there is tom boonen for classics...cancellara as UCI world TT champion for 2009 and 2010, tour de suisse overall in 2010, multiple stage and ITT wins...among other wins...

basically... it's a bike that is seen winning quite a lot of high publicity races..

it's a psychological thing... what wins more must always be good..haha.. whether it is true or not, it's up to you to find out..

you don't see repeated wins or repeated streaks from recent winners in pinarello, bmc, willier and cannondale do you??? with the exception of trek which won like 9 out of the 11 tours they took part in with 7 now striked off the winners list thanks to the doper..

naturally... spez is the next best thing... and they have a complete lineup of climbing, aero, classics, TT bikes that is lacking in one way or the other from their rivals...

jus my heavily skewed 2 cents...

with an ad like this...who can resist

Thanks butthead.

next, since my disposable income are no where can match with ever advance technology and it's prices, do an old model Spez acceptable?

Do SL2 or SL3 are the minium spec to get?
*
the question is not minimum spec or not... the big question would seriously be.. say, would you feel the 10% increase in stiffness between an SL3 and SL4 that the marketing material says?? and does that justify for the difference in price proportionately?

it's just like a old camry vs new camry... differences in design and interior or maybe even the engine and it costs 10 thousand more.. do you feel safer driving the new one vs the old one or would it go any faster or save any more petrol in proportion to the money paid? most likely not... for most people, it only looks better or the fact that they know it's a new car... in other words, syiok sendili...

i believe many people just blindly taruh money where they don't need to...we don't always need to own the latest and greatest equipment as it will never end...of course, if you have nowhere to spend the money...why not... but on tighter budget... sacrifices have to be made or you can just withold your purchase until you have enough funds to splurge for it...

you just need to know your priorities.. if your priority is money... and you get a chance to buy a cheaper older but still new SL3... why not? if your priority is to own the best in the world... then be prepared to spend like nobodies business and don't complain about the high costs of this things...

it's just a marketing thing at the end of the day and whether you get suckered into it is the question..

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 5 2012, 02:38 PM)
everybody else is on SL4 or venge now. i chose SL3 instead. i'm happy with my purchase.

problem is i dont even know how to feel stiff how good  my Giant Alloy bike is.

what's more a carbon bike. Ok. self-awareness, gotta ride more before really upgrade.

Guess, im still wearing "newbie' tag in cycling...

10,000KM mark is my next point to review my next upgrade. Justify or not?

Currently 1 year 5 days into ownership of my Giant TRC SL3... clocked more than 2,000KM.

on other hand, i think it's good opportunity to ride other brand bikes. "widen" your riding experience with different frame, brand and bike setup. i think i were noob rejected the offer to ride BMC...

argh... think back, opportunity flash in front me and now no more... gotta ride more n try my chance!
*
10,000KM mark is very fast to hit one wer with your P2k.. last time before i TFDB every damn thing... i rode about 8k per year...nowadays, 1 year cannot clock more than 3k, basketball... MTB years can hit over 15k per year... always go ulu yam play waterfall every weekend without fail and ride from home to RRIM whever we can...

you can always try other bikes.. but stiffness is usually only felt under brutish riders... those who tickle the pedals will seldom feel it...

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 5 2012, 03:53 PM)
chill. if u have the right frame size, just use it until u have enough money to buy what u really want. i was on my previous frame for 7 years before i got my SL3. unless ur giant's the wrong size. what's the rush?
*
7 years... never had a bike that lasted 7 years... my Iron Horse FS-1 was the longest... 5 years before the chain stay broke.. last bike was sendili tangan gatal la, i admit...

when the time comes... you cannot control your impulsiveness... die is die one...this you have to trust me...
