My suspicion is that Citibank applied an internal branding of this card rather to use what VISA/Mastercard card categories/level.
I have observed that the card is not marked with neither the World/Infinite/Signature which is normally associated with Premium level cards.
Update : It just might be the first World Elite Mastercard in Malaysia!

chokolato I do not want to be sounding rude but if you have the mentality of Free/Waive AF for Citi Prestige, I wish you all the best as you may not deserve such cards. These are (if I've correctly understand it) true Premium cards from Citibank vs. Citi Premier Miles which I think not a Premium card as many think it is due to the naming convention used.

Yes, it's the first World Elite MasterCard that I know of in Malaysia. The World Elite category is not even on the MasterCard Asia Pacific website.

The card is not marked World/Infinite/Signature but the MasterCard logo is in silver colour, ie, World Elite MasterCard.

Actually a MasterCard logo in silver doesn't necessarily mean it is a World Elite MasterCard. A few US Banks have been issuing MasterCard with silver MasterCard logo for a few years already. The Chase World MasterCard for example, has its logo printed in silver.

After applied online... the Citibank CS just called me this noon and told me that prestige world elite mastercard is similar with elite world mastercard and higher rank than world mastercard coz of the "elite" words. (Dunno about this)
and the CS told me seriously not once but twice that the annual fees of rm1000 imposed strictly cant be waived (i didnt ask about this waiver why need to mention if wanna apply for premier card funny CS lol)
minimum income must be more than rm200k per year.
I will update again if my application approved...

Because there are people who may be interested and qualify for this card but not willing to pay the hefty annual fee biggrin.gif So he/she was like just give you a warning. If he/she doesn't tell you about this, then people will definitely complain that they are not aware of this later biggrin.gif

Yes, the World Elite MasterCard is ranked higher than World MasterCard. You can see the description at this URL: http://www.mastercard.us/credit-card-world-elite.html

i understand what u mean. but normally those rich ppl kedekut wan.. they rather spend RM50k buy something to entitle annual fee waiver. if not kedekut, how to become rich. maybe only those who get easy money willing to pay the rm1k annual fee.

You'll be surprised otherwise but this is not the concern. Many kinds of people out there and equally many types of rich people.
Many folks these days are status crazy - thinking credit cards is the measurement of wealth. We get CL increase, card type increase, Platinum chasers and etc. in bundles and look at our Recommendation Cards section - practically almost 100% want nothing else but free cards and highest CL.

We notice the population trends and been around long enough to understand general cardholders mentality.

Yeah, just remember that too because I've seen it like once or twice here only (we seldom see people talk about AmBank cc here lol). Even the VISA Infinite has a silver logo biggrin.gif

rathian_mhfu I'd appreciate it if you were to be more responsible and to also state the T&C of the promotions as well to any information that you state here. (I'd been observing your posts) Given the way you are currently stating it, I see it as misleading our readers because there are additional details but you are not stating it either intentionally or not.

Hi everyone,

I just received a call from Citibank.. She mentioned that I entitled a promotion benefit that is for Citibank Mastercard only..

It is sort of like an Insurance, and she mentioned that no extra or hidden charges for this benefit..

And let say If every month you have balance in your account is not clear after the end of the due date, you would only need to pay a (min or max, not sure) of 69 cents only..

Gosh, she talk so fast and I the reply I gave was just ok ok ok, yes yes yes.. =.="

It sound like another tele-marketing scam to me.. Now I'm really scare will kena monthly charges liao.. sad.gif

i think it is this: Citibank Credit Shield Plus

it is not a scam.. it is an insurance product by Citibank to provide coverage in case you got into accident, so they will clear off your debt.. as a insurance, you do need to pay.. if i'm not mistaken, you will be charged if you have balance after the payment date, and maybe that is 69cent per day.. i might wrong with the number..

anyway, it is up to you to take the insurance or not.. i think anyone who settle all their payment by payment date dont need this insurance..

I read the article previously... Bank making money from the annual fees... That why they easily releasing such cards and bombard customer with high yearly fee... For me holding credit card is not to proud cause it create debt with high interest rates.

Life is challenging, so force to holding it to survive... Especially in emergency and unexpected situation... Use as backup only. Bored with this plastic... Hahahaha.. Just my personal opinion only ya.

Called to reduce credit limit to below RM 10k for my Citibank Cashback.

The CS said cannot because that is the min limit. She said if I want a lower limit, I have cancel this card and apply for another lower grade card. sweat.gif
