Thanks! Time to submit for the 10% rebate. Got over thousand worth of bills to pay

Read the T&C of this 10% promotion again. It is capped at RM200 per bill only and there is only RM5,000 to be given for this 10% every week on a first come first serve basis.

Hi, I have some question regarding Citibank credit card approval.

I never had any credit card before (1st time applying for a credit card) & my salary is RM24k per annum. I just want to apply a card mostly for online shopping.

I applied the Citibank Gold Visa & just received a letter from them today stating that they're unable to offer me a Citibank credit card at this point in time.

Does this mean I will not be able to apply for any Citibank credit card anymore? And will this also indicate that it will be difficult for me to apply a credit card from other bank(s)?

Thank you for any kind suggestions & advices in advance.
*
Someone posted here a while ago that Citibank no longer offers credit card to those who have never had a credit card. This apparently is a new Citibank policy.

ANyone got the 10% rebate for bill payment already?

Did pay some bills hoping to get the 10% rebate but so far still no sight of the 10% rebate. Either it's not in yet or the quota already finished by the time I paid the bill through Citi online.

My humble opinion is the word member here chosen to interpret how to save money for paying GST. In view of legal, there is no way to "waive" GST, but bank can offer some incentive, such as reward point & cash rebate, and you may use these incentive to offset the GST you re obliged to pay. It is same practice on paying personal tax, gove offer some incentive for public to offset the tax you re obliged to pay but it doesnt mean the partial of initial amount you should pay is "waived". Hope it clarifies  smile.gif

That's the thing. The term "waiver" used by some of these local banks is wrong because they are kind of like the collecting agency only in this case and they do not have the right to waive the credit card service tax. These banks may however offer various types of incentive to offset the cannot be waived credit card service tax. Since we know the term used is wrong, why should we continue to use something that is wrong ?

usually call a month before the annual fee date or after getting the annual fee on the statement?
*
I normally do it a month before. I have two Citibank credit cards, one is due for renewal in August and another one is in November. I usually ask them to waive the annual fees for both cards right away so that i don't have to call them for second time before November.

hello guys, gals,

terribly sorry, just got the email from the sales lady ... it's citibank cash back platinum, not rewards platinum ... she kept on talking about rewards, rewards & rewards over the phone so i thought it was rewards card ... but after received the email, confirmed it's cash-back platinum ...

but i think this is less attractive than ocbc titanium & maybank 2 amex right?

so, any existing citibank cash back platinum cardholder can advice?

cheers ...
*
I have this Citibank Cash Back Platinum. I only use it once in a while since i got my OCBC Titanium and Maybankard 2 AMEX/VISA about two years ago. There are months that i totally used up the 5% rebate (OCBC) and 5%+5TP (MBB2 AMEX), so these are the times that i'll use my Citibank Cash Back Platinum to pay for petrol.

If you don't spend a lot, actually having the OCBC Titanium MasterCard and MBB2 AMEX are good enough already. I still have to pay the credit card service tax for the Citibank Cash Back Platinum but the total cash back i get from this card (for petrol mostly) per annum is more than enough to cover the credit card service tax. This is why i am still keeping this card smile.gif

Mine requires me to spend at least RM4,500 for 3 consecutive months and only to get a guaranteed RM80 cash back per month doh.gif

The SMS just came in this evening, by the way.

Anyone has the details of income requirement and annual fee on this new card? This would be the 5th card in Malaysia offering unlimited Priority Pass Lounge access.

Need at least RM200,000/pa. Not sure how much is the annual fee.

Some people have it while some don't. I have two credit cards from Citibank and only one comes with a separate installment limit.

The card is not marked World/Infinite/Signature but the MasterCard logo is in silver colour, ie, World Elite MasterCard.
*
Actually a MasterCard logo in silver doesn't necessarily mean it is a World Elite MasterCard. A few US Banks have been issuing MasterCard with silver MasterCard logo for a few years already. The Chase World MasterCard for example, has its logo printed in silver.

the CS told me seriously not once but twice that the annual fees of rm1000 imposed strictly cant be waived (i didnt ask about this waiver why need to mention if wanna apply for premier card funny CS lol)
*
Because there are people who may be interested and qualify for this card but not willing to pay the hefty annual fee biggrin.gif So he/she was like just give you a warning. If he/she doesn't tell you about this, then people will definitely complain that they are not aware of this later biggrin.gif

Just recalled that the AmBank World MasterCard has the silver MasterCard logo too. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, just remember that too because I've seen it like once or twice here only (we seldom see people talk about AmBank cc here lol). Even the VISA Infinite has a silver logo biggrin.gif

Bro, Citibank card ar.... I don't like their CS, need to go thru so many steps to speak to a human unlike MBB CS, UOB PB CS and CIMB CS.
*
I concur. There is no point to go through so many steps.

I wonder why someone with 200k income per annum is having so much fuss about the 1k annual fee. Just play a few rounds of golf, you got your ROI immediately.

The CS line (I'm referring to CTB Prestige Concierge Service) is so easy to use. Just key in your Prestige CC number, you'll be diverted to the Prestige Concierge AVR. From there you can immediately speak to an operator or your personal Lifestyle Management Manager currently being managed by Ten Group Lifestyle Management and Concierge Services. What more do you need?

Personally, I've just came back from my golfing trip booked via Prestige Concierge and I am 102% satisfied.

Not all rich people play golf. Gen-X certainly doesn't.

I just got a fraud from KARMALOOP online transaction,  wondering they don't provide OTP during transaction perform?  Second time caught in fraud.. Scary..
*
If the website doesn't support Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode, then it doesn't need Citibank OTP for the transaction to go through unfortunately.

anyone tried their pay with points? usually where do you go?

i went to Cathay at JB City Square, although listed on Citibank site but their staff seems to have no idea about it
*
I did it at MPH bookstore a month ago. And currently they have this offer that you pay with your points and you will get x% rebate for your next purchase. You must pay with your Citibank credit card of course to get the x% rebate.

I believe there isn't... The least amount i charged to my Citibank VISA was just around RM17. They used to be a minimum charge when they were using CIMB card processing terminal (RM20 or RM30 if my memory serves me correctly).

i would be more careful with such a long installment plan. the problem is now citibank seems strict to even waive the annual fee for their card. say it you are having the long installment, the "cancel-card-if-you-don't-waive" trick don't work anymore, coz you either pay the annual fee or penalty for early settlement. both also our lost. me stuck with the dial-for-cash too now and can't cancel. lucky still get to waive annual free after long nego with CS. had to pay for GST though
*
There is no penalty for early settlement for 0% instalment.
