Greetings Preve owners,

Currently I'm seriously considering for Preve CFE so I need you guys to advice me on how's the usage so far ? In terms of fc, handling, after sale services, etc. Asking outside opinion will result to bashing, so I need user's opinion. Does the turbocharged has the umph feel ? Please advice notworthy.gif

Im not so sure about FC and after sale services.. In terms of handling, I can say its very good because it have ESC (electronic stabiliser control) which many car in the same class didnt have.. Sy pernah nearly hit the small divider pillar on my right (didnt see it because of darky night) and my reflex drastically move the steering to the left but somehow the ESC help the car stablize my car by steering it back to right and balance the position of my car...

FC is good. highway is better. rm 80~85 can get to 480 to 520. depend on traffic condition. high hill or slope or lots of traffic light. highway one full tank manage to reach 670km full tank with remaining 70km before petrol fully deplete.

depend on your right foot. handling great. corner at high speed still safe. after sale service. from start till now i always go COSE. now their technician getting less and less. not sure current status but if normal service 1 hour. if need to rectify some minor issue. each issue they will give their timing to rectify is 1 hour.

So let say you have this list.

dashboard right hand side vibrate when standstill or when going up hill.
C pillar got some wind sound
gear knob plastic spoil
rusty petrol tank holder

If this four minor issue they will give each item 1 hour resolution.
If you have more to change or more complicated one will need to put car there one or two or even three days. to let them rectify.

but if you want go cose.. please make sure you take half day leave or one day leave. unless you got other friend or other transport to go to work. Dont go during friday. nothing much they can do cause friday break time longer 12 till 2.45 so by the time they need to rectify something you will end up going back at 4.30 or 5.00 pm.

Turbocharge 1.6 CFE is good. my last time small car 1.3 of course alot of different. kinda scary too if you press hard with S mode. torque steer towards the left. tyre will spin if you start from standstill if you really press down hard at S mode. the umpphh feel after 2k ~5.k rpm region. the rest will climb fast and easy around 160 kmph~ 180kmph range. reaching 190 is slower to reach 200. never go pass 200 mark yet. but that's the max i go. up hill is great. initial acceleration is great. of course cannot compare sports car but it really does have the ummphh. of course you wont stick to the chair when you accelerate. that is only 205 N-m torque. if got more like 400N-m in Subaru WRX then you can stick at the chair when accelerate. or 700 N-m torque like Lamborghini Aventador then you can get excited.

Try test drive yourself. during i test drive. the sale agent is girl...so when i whack corner at 110 ~120 she shriek a little while holding the handle on the roof. scary for her i think.

If proton have given leather seats or better seats, we do not have to replace the driver seat in the first place.

ya ya no leather seats not that comfy.. if got one like honda accord seats that is what comfy means. the water repellant seats starting to berbulu already at the side.

grats on the new thread, btw the new ECU/TCU got reduce some CVT whine and drone sound?

CVT whine sound is the gearbox design, nothing can be done unless you add sound insulation to the gearbox itself.

Man, this preve is really a rusty car. Rust everywhere. Park at open space at morning. A short rain at noon. Get car at evening and found rust on all discbrakes! Inspect a viva that parked besides and found no trace of rust on its discbrakes. Makes me wonder what material being used for discbrake since it became rusty almost instantaneously after being sprinkled with water. Of course a short drive wipes it away but it gets back fast too whenever downpour happens. I thought preve use high performance brake like those of brembo ceramic, no? Ceramic wont rust aint it?

Apart from the known rusty exhaust holder, I saw rust too at many other parts especially those linkage that are in black paint. At least the rusty exhaust holder issue is absence in other cars like unser. Kinda worried how long can this global car last..

Rust on the disc brake is normal, happens to all cars.

Ceramic refers to the material in the brake pad, not the disc.

Your comments are valuable and should be shared with all members here.

Do you know the material of disc brakes make of? Is it ceramic?
It isn't ceramic, it usually made of grey iron. It is prone to corrosion, or in your term - RUST.
Have a good read over here for your own knowledge, you will benefit from it.

Rust will take time to form, so how long was the Viva you inspected have exposed to wet condition as compared to the Preve? You have no idea don't you?
Will the Viva disc brake rust?

Again, you think that Preve use high performance brakes? Seriously what make you think so that a normal sedan use high performance parts and sell at reasonable price?
VW Golf TSI uses brembo disc brake? Just wonder.

Rusty exhaust holder is a known issue and Proton has addressed to all dealers to provide measurement to overcome this matter.
I have seen Unser where the rust issue was horrible, the whole floor panel rust and it isn't just one unit. Seriously Unser that reliable to you? It was mean to be a goods carrier but Malaysians treated it as a MPV.

Oh ya, for your information where I obtained from Brembo brakes website, their disc brakes are made of high carbon iron. Iron with high carbon content usually are higher in tensile strength compared to iron with low carbon content, FYI.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and amuse us. You did a great job.

hi, i read a bit about the remapping at v15. Would like to ask the owners who had done the remapping of the ECU/TCU, how does it affects the FC? Better or worse?

I am seriously considering of getting the preve cfe. it would be great if proton comes out with a preve SE. for me, 2 must-have items in the SE version: leather seats and reverse camera.
Body kits will be a bonus!

Reverse camera can be installed for less than RM200, if you know where to find.
Leather seats? No comment.

FC? It think it will be too soon to discuss about that now, most of the owners flashed to latest ECU/TCU previous week, it will take sometime for the gearbox to re-learn the driving pattern, in few weeks time u shall see more info in this.

I'm loving this new ECU/TCU. Better pickup and i can maintain rev below 2k for city drive. Highway 120km/h only 2.5k rev. FC also very good. last time my best fc is 8.5L/100km. now can get 7.6L/100km thumbup.gif

Good writing, very much appreciated. As for the fc, I have a Wira and Saga FL with both averaging 10-12km/l. Needless to say, I usually refill full tank around 30l+ at RM 60 and mileage can go as far as 350km for city drive. Of course for long stretch clear highway is further, around 400km. I guess fc wise for Proton cars pretty much the same.

As for turbocharged, my benchmark would be 4G93T as I've driven a Waja with it. On paper specs, it is lower but it is a 1.6L but able whack a corner at 100-120kmph for on the road car is pretty neat. I don't usually drive fast as Wira 1.5 pick up is slower, but when I driven my bro Waja 1.8T, getting to 120kmph at ease gets me excited a bit especially in overtaking at high speed. You just overtake without the need to take the speed momentum.

And yeah, I'll test drive it to believe. nod.gif

Very good FC indeed. After remapping my car in Ipoh i'm rushing back to Teluk Intan. I'm driving around 100-120km/h and once in a while speeding up to 160km/h using Ipoh-Lumut road and average FC shows 7.6l/100km. Will monitor how it perform for long distance driving later when I'm going to Kota Bharu, Shah Alam and Kuala Perlis next week. rclxm9.gif

When Proton tagged the car with the word "GLOBAL", many people have very high expectation...including me, initially..but once you read and learn more..you will understand more.
Thank you for your concern LYNsucks.
