Just got the 4.2.1 update via OTA. That's right, an OTA update within 24 hours of the release. First time in history that has happened for me. Usually have to wait 2 or 3 days. Google must really love their December!! O_O

Technically there's no stock recovery. The 2 popular recoveries is TWRP and CWM. So you mean stock ROM or CWM?

hi guys,i'm new here and i'm having a big problem with my nexus 7...
i bought my nexus 7 from "senheng" roughly more than a month ago..i was pretty satisfied with it until recently all the bugs and defects are starting to annoy me A LOT...
1) sometimes the touch screen is not responsive.i try pulling down the notification tray but it doesnt get pull down..
2) they are black lines on the screen sometimes when playing games or surfing facebook..it does happened quite often although it only appears for a split second.
3) this is the worst defect of all.sometimes the tablet acts on it's own,it's like it's having a mind of it's own.it would just jump back to the homescreen, swipe around and open up apps on it's own when i'm actually using the tablet.Basically it's like a ghost is using the tablet. So i try to find the cause of this problem and i'hv found than whenever i try to swipe around really quick the tablet will become not responsive for a while and it'll start acting on it's own, so i feel that there's a problem with the touch screen panel.

I went back to "senheng" the other day, hoping that they would replace a new tablet for me but they refuse to, so most probably i'm going to ring up ASUS tomorrow to report about my problems and hope that they would replace a new unit. My main problem is the 3rd, i can live with the other two but the 3rd one is seriously bugging me.

Is anyone having the same problem as me? If so, what did u do to solve it?

p/s : i'm on stock 4.2 rooted...

I had similar issues when there's moisture on screen. Finger that are slightly wet will also do that. But I'll assume even dry you're having same problem. Did you apply any cleaning agent on screen, new screen protector, used different charger?

I don't think it's on the spot. They need to troubleshoot and evaluate what's wrong first before they give you 1-to-1.

I think Uncle Benny case also not 1-to-1 on the spot. If they do 1-to-1 for all RMA case, they rugi A LOT.

Mine was replaced free after the tech screwup trying to replace the motherboard
And my unit when i sent in was with bootloader unlocked and tablet keep booting only to clockworkmod recovery - even so the tech told me warranty still honour and need to replace motherboard

I suggest you reflash the stock rom first and assess it before sending in to service center
If same issues still persists, than only send in and most probably the most they will change is your display
You can try your luck asking for a new replacement

No idea man. If my hand is wet and swipe once, the whole thing goes crazy as if there's a invisible finger masturbating the N7.

You worry about warranty claims, then unroot and lock back bootloader first - it just take a minute only to do it
For me I cannot even do such stuffs ( PC just cannot detect the tablet) and i just sent in as it is condition and I was indeed very surprised warranty is still covered and mother board replace FOC. I sent in my unit to JB Skudai center
I remember some users has their speakers replaced FOC ( in KL) even though theirs was rooted too

Sadly, I don't know any method other than Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. It's important to note that the dev says you need to turn CWM's signature verification off for it to work. I must disclaim that I've never tried this method before, though. If my device is rooted (like my previous GalNex) then I'm definitely on a custom ROM, in which case it just makes more sense to wait a few days for an updated image from the ROM dev. My Nexus 7 has been stock since I got it.

Some people say that Voodoo only works if you're running a rooted device with stock AOSP ROM, stock kernel and no modified root config files. Seen a lot of users complaining it didn't work if they had custom ROMS or kernels installed. No idea if this is true, it's just what I read on other sites/forums.

If I OTA update,I will lose my root but all my data will remain right? I'm still on 4.1 BTW.

My 3G just arrived direct from US. Quite some wait time due to long online orders and black friday shipping.
