sorry, i got another noob question, can anyone explain to me how to setup a top filter?
i already saw a few pics, but still dunno who the water will flow out, and how/where to put the filter media.
sorry, never used this type of filter before.
Its pretty basic, and easy. This is the kind u were referring to, right?

Yeah that was one big filter box. For normal aquarium we usually use small box like this one only :

Personally i havent been using top filter for long time, since changing to sump filter. But i think, to prevent from flooding outside of aquarium, u can provide a DIY padding tank to put ur top filter on. So the overflown water will go into the padding tank, with a tube back to ur aquarium.

And lapik with bio balls , topped with foams (sounds like burger to me) tongue.gif
How to salur the water back to the tank?
How heavy will the filter be?
Mine just normal 4ft with two short braces.

A small thing u need to turn/switch. Horizontal lets the air thru, vertical blocks the air. See the pic (lucky that i still have 2 units unused smile.gif )

One more thing is, u need to put the other end of the air pump above the water surface. Good luck.

with white base, polys marking will fade ..eventually.
And when you'll upgrade the tank? ^^
Those lap, PEE and ornate will outgrow soon.
And auranti needs cooler water to show beautifully marking.

p/s catfish and those suckers shouldn't comm with polys.

U can request it from nearby lfs, they might consider searching for u.

IMO, beside spacey enclosure, one more thing to consider is the feeding cost. Arapaimas grow really fast, and they consume carnivorous diets.

Added on November 15, 2012, 10:47 pmRecently i cleared away all the sand substrates in my tank, leaving the base bare and 'glass-slippery'. I dont think my bichirs like the new situation very much.

I have this idea in mind, to use tile or slate as aquarium base (as in picture). How do u guys think?
