Congrats!!! rclxms.gif

should add in a post telling where we can get primitive fish specimens and from which reputable local LFS.
Also what type of primitve fish specimens we can find there.
easier to keep track on where to buy them when some of us got an empty tank to fill in biggrin.gif

awesomely cute at the short body polypts!! drool.gif
but i read its because of their spine deformation that you will get this type of variation, and most of them are prone to die young.
and you can easily see them in display tank in singapore lfs.
correct me if im wrong though. im also not very sure about the source that ive read before doh.gif

They are actually produced this way. The LFS boss told me that they were line breed and genetically enhance to be short body.  You can get easily from Singapore fish shop.
you usually how much do they cost?

hurm, probably due to the feeding of leftovers mealworms then. doh.gif
i wonder if those LFS will let me just buy 2-3 piece of mealworms only lol, instead of a capfull of them.
my T's only eat 2 pieces per week, rest have to be flushed into my oscar tank.. sweat.gif
tak baik membazir lolol

ok, will try your method, also dose a few cheap medications into the water itself yesterday. no more stringy poop so far.

Other than weekly WC, how to keep water less fishy smell?
These few weeks i'm very busy, and i can feel the consequences..
My living room smells fishy..
im not sure, but after adding a 2 bags of purigens for my overstock oscar tank, the water seems more clearer and no smell

alright. thanx for the info guys and girls.
well, looks like i have to vacumm them then since i need to use gravel due to my fishes like to play with it.

Why dont you guys use a sump tank full load(normal filter media..) + with high flowrate cannister filter(inside just use a bit of floss) with attached house water filter...?
Those house water filter pads can filter up to 0.5microns...and believe me...they look really crystal clear, donwside of it, you need to get a bigger flowrate power head and every week or a few days need to change the filter pads.

something like this

i mean you need a higher/bigger/powerful cannister filter since lower flow rate cannister filter will not be enough,
due to the filter pad will quickly be clog up, like my case, after using 0.5 microns filter pad, water damn crystal clear,
no smell, but after a day, the water output had been reduce significantly, from air pancut, to air titik titik.. lol

or you could try to use lesser micro filter pad, now im using a new one, just bought it just now. will update later.

I like the idea that it gives u crystal clear water condition, but personally i think that kind of filtration is too much hassle, and quite hard to maintain. Weekly filter pads change is acceptable, but if once everyday (or even every other day), then its probably not for me. Thanks for the video provided, it helps to grasp the whole idea.

New way of filtration for me, has its own pro and contra there. Its amazing how u 1st discover the idea thumbup.gif
i cant take credit for it though, since i just upgraded the design and
its use purpose to suit my need from planted tank community and i found out it really works for my oscar fish tank.

btw, already 2 days using new loose filter pads, so far so good, water is clearer. guess will see if it last at least a week.
will update with pictures of the filter pads later after it started become clogged

It was ur effort anyway. Have u tried other configurations? Like using filter pads looser than 0.5 microns?
yup, still experimenting with looser type of filter pads currently.
now probably using 50-100microns or soo. not sure which since they dont have labels on it.

sorry, but pros and cons between sump & trickle/tower filter?
i know cannister wont fair good with those 2, but i did saw giant cannister filters made using big blue barrrels(used to store liquid/water/oil) in Batam before.

sorry sis, im from subang hehe... not from Ipoh. biggrin.gif
2-3 eheim 2217 cannister filters will do good i guess? hmm.gif
btw, if you are looking for good eheim subtitute, you could get the ever realible marineland C-Series Canister Filters.
they are robust, sturdy and wont failed you for petty stuffs, unless you did something really wrong with it. Theyre kinda like the american version of germani eheim filters. Though they dont come cheap and im not sure theyre spareparts are easily found in our shores.
Also, they got those filter pad media that able to tapis those dust/poo/taik ikan particles in water up to 0.5 microns.

thanx bro, still sketching some plans for my future big tank and its filter system. so i guess 8ftooter tank with 1 sump tank and with additional a few cannister filters will be enough?
