Hey just wondering, can a fish die of over feeding?

Coz my channa bleheri kinda gulped quite a big feeder fish for its own size, looks like its stomach gonna explode. icon_question.gif

QUOTE(LuQEE @ Nov 1 2012, 05:53 PM)
need help.
saw my oscar is pooping white stringy poops.
thinking she might have some kind of internal infection or worst, hex.
but she is still eating and not ludah balik, so maybe not hex kot.
any suitable and easy treatment?

*
Any change in ur oscar's diet? Coz last time my aro had the same stringy poops and sometimes brownish liquid come out. Asked my friend he said most probably constipation, and maybe due to I changed its diet from just crickets to prawns, feeder fish, centipedes, etc. Just for variety.

So I just let the fella starve a bit, then started giving its normal diet for a while then all okay.

I didnt feed them live feeder for two three day.. I only throw in pellets. Eventually then start to makan but it tat time.
*
QUOTE(kakarocht @ Mar 18 2013, 10:47 PM)
you need to them when you're young if you buy from lfs then chances is very low from them to eat pellet unless your pellet is diy types which means also made from fish aka like keropok. but i too lazy to diy those pellet cos last time like to go fishing so know what to do actually.
*
Currently my gar is sharing the tank with an oscar and an RTC. I guess I'll starve em and just feed them the oscars pellets. RTC have to handfeed la then. Aiya lazy la. Lol

QUOTE(awansakti @ Mar 20 2013, 08:03 AM)
Get sinking pellets?so manja need handfeed haha..
*
It wont eat sinking pellets. Dunno why. Its either prawns, ff. Or mealworms. Considering to train it to eat sinking pellets, but later i guess.

QUOTE(kakarocht @ Mar 20 2013, 09:31 AM)
lol...you can tried it but make sure you better removed the oscar la cos this fish very ferocious when no food/hungry they will attacks other fish.  sweat.gif
*
Yea I always feed the oscar with pellets from time to time before I go lfs to buy ff. He always kacau the gar if I skip feed. shakehead.gif

So guys, after starving them do I pour in lots of pellets and wait for the gar to consider eating them or wat? (Considering the oscar will eat the pellets too, perhaps the gar will follow?) But to what extent? Wait until the oscar finish all of the pellets? He got quite a good appetite. Lol.

Btw, currently giving Hikari's Cichlid Bio Gold pellets for the oscar.

take out the gar.
to pellet train, do a bit of WC, then start faminine 30 days.
Nobody will die, only us. Mine went starving for weeks for finally accepted pellets.
Once a while i put shrimps as snacks too.
*
Ha? Ill die??? Hahaha. Take out d gar can but i got no place, only a spare 2 feet tank. Ok ah? So small. The gar now nearing 1 foot long.

QUOTE(kakarocht @ Mar 21 2013, 12:20 PM)
can try to feed the pellets but make sure u gives bit by bit. oscar still can train with pellets but need patient. for gar itself i think is very difficult cos once you've trained this fish with live bait sure this fish will eat live bait. if your tank is large enough then you no need to worry about it. but best is removed the oscar la if gar dun attacked other fish then no need to removed it unless this fish also like to attack other fish then removed it.
*
The oscar is already on pellets. Sometimes menyibuk eating FF oso. Lol. But lucky me, they dont attack each other even when hungry. Just the oscar sometimes kacau, but thats just an oscar being an oscar.

QUOTE(awansakti @ Mar 21 2013, 09:00 PM)
That is good stuff. I like it. Once bought it, never change. All my cichlids love that smile.gif
*
Yea, my oscar seems to love it too. smile.gif

QUOTE(PIMPIN @ Mar 24 2013, 03:04 AM)
Not exactly accurate. I've had Gars from mere inches initially who were raised on feeders - RM10 worth day for a pair increasing as they grew. At the same time, adopted two other Gars one 2ft one over 3ft and all feed live fish. To convert them to pellet based diet it's simple - starve them and soon they will go for pellets but never starve juvenile Gars.

As for keli feeders - stay away from them if possible.
*
Cool. A juvenile gar is of what size? Mine is only around 1 feet.

And as for the keli feeders. Why?
