What's up with the price on those gems (radiant star)

I can't think of any other reason than that they are duped. What other theories are possible?

Amethyst is dirt cheap now.

What do you mean by they duped? Theories?

I like them to be priced that way. I don't want it to be like 'rubbish' like the ones in D2 LOD.

its priced below production cost. so yes tehre is a problem with price. would you make a radiant star and sell 8mil and like the price?

yeah something fishy going on. i have seen people posting radiant star prices on the asian server which cost about 1m plus

I suspect that the seller are putting the wrong pricing.
Even without taking the cost of ToS+gem (assume you loot 729 flawless sq & 1631 ToS) radiant star should cost 15.4mil.
perfect star @ 8mil is reasonable.

Supply and demand. The price floats.

Some people buy gears that come with radiant star gems.
They don't need the gems since they have already got the gems.
They sell it instead.

There are many reasons people sell it cheap.
1) They got the gems from the purchase of gears. They don't need those gems and sell it for 9-10m. A very good way to get back some gold.
2) Some people decided to change characters and sold off the gems and gears.

It is cheaper to get Radiant star now (than crafting).
You can easily get the gems at AH now.
True story. Wanna dispute that?

P/S I am a jewel crafter too. I can craft all gems up to radiant star, except emerald.
I don't see a problem to buy gems (if it is cheaper than making one).

2. Yes, changing changing char yet they would sell off their green gems. at 10m. 1m on asian server.
3. I'm not asking if it is cheaper to buy gems off AH / RMAH. I'm not asking to be told if it's cheaper to buy gems off AH / RMAH. I KNOW it's cheaper to buy it off AH than to produce it which is why i'm asking. I'm asking for theories to why its cheap.

1. It happens all the time. I sold my Ouroboros amulet with 50 DEX gem for 2-3 million. I don't need the amulet. Posted many times but no people bid. I just sold it cheap.

2. I don't see a problem. If you think items in Asian server are cheap, you can play in Asian server. It is a game afterall. You still get fun playing. (I haven't seen 1m radiant star in US server. Waiting patiently for the day to come).

3. It is cheap for many reasons. Demand and supply. People don't need it. People sell it cheap. Botters. It is good for both buyer and seller. Win-win situation. And there is no issue.

4. Let the price tell you the story. Simple as that.

The plans of radiant star are dirt cheap too.
I just grabbed Amethyst and Topaz radiant star plan yesterday, 900K and 1.2m respectively.
(since it's cheaper to buy than craft now. I think the demand for the plan is not good and thus cheap price).

Emerald radiant star plan is the last piece of jigsaw I need.
Hope I can get it below 2m.

Better buy from ah, too cheap now..

On the EU servers, the emeralds (radiant star) are priced at 23 mil and the plans are at 9.5mil. Is it cheaper over at the US server?

In us, radiant star green only 13m, perfect star around 3.6m...

1. Smart of you. Smarter of others to buy it.
2. Produced at 15.4-17.5m to sell at 1m. We're talking about theories and not about where we play. This topic is about Gem price theory, not casual its a game afterall talk. why not. diminishing returns make the higher end gems less favored for the casual players

but for such a discrepancy then possible dupe lo or blizzard did a boo boo because most items is they batch upload one... lulz

Yeb, from the feedback I hear from gem traders, the rate they buy at is the same price, so either there's a big seller or actually our beloved company's been doing biz with gems "legally"

Diminishing returns could be the reason.
For a Wiz, if he/she already has 1 radiant star emerald, how many does he/she need? Probably none.

there could be some stock traded below its price to book value
but the book value is yet to be revised, for example a company own a piece of land which valuation was set 10 years ago

same goes to gem
i think it is something to do with diminishing return mentioned above,
the 2nd/3rd tier gem become more expensive, but the 1st tier gem is yet to reflect its true book value~

i once bought a armor with 3 radiant star.. 3 pcs inside.. lausy armor no stats(uesless armor for me la).. 10mil only with 3 gems.. i sold each of the radiant star 8mil each.. so im the 1 kena blamed for ruin-ing the market price?

yes. i agree that people are leaving diablo 3 game. that's why things are selling at very low price. i notice that too.

but 1m@asia? that's like 95% quit, remaining players fully equipped

if based on quitters then we must have had a lot of quitters by now who sold for rmah of which others bought cheap? i mean if quitters really just sold off everything then so much for them returning.. even for 1.0.5.

i can accept this if people are selling it cheap for real money.. but selling for less gold don't quite make sense. they'd take the gold and then lose even higher transaction fees @ rmah?

How's the price in RMAH?

Just want to ask one question. If someone decided to leave the game, why they want to sell the item for the gold? Afterall the gold is in-game currency and not actual money so they cant bring the gold to their pocket once they quit?

one could sell at rmah cheap then someone else buy gems there to sell for gold.... and cycle it but it makes no sense unless even after 15% fee theres profit still.

inflation or supply and demand or not, there has to be some foul play earlier on causing an overabundance of of gems.

As for Asia server, I'm not sure since I don't play there. It could be any reason like duping; gold farmers (more gold = more gems created = market crashed where too much supply, too little demand [ASSUMING the server is flooded with bot]); or any other reasons.

For the second point, it really depends on individual.

If a person truly wants to quit, I doubt he'll care how much it'll be sold for, as long as it can be converted back to real money, since gold can be converted back to cash by rmah / any other means; regardless of the $ earned (since keeping Digital Goods will not really bring them any advantage).

There's people like me as well, holding the gems and not selling due to the low market value, hoping that it'll raise back up so that I could sell it for a profit, even though I have already quit.

Amethyst radiant star is now at the cost of flawless star.

I don't know why the gems are so cheap nowdays .

I calculated that if I sell the ToS / Flawless Square gem according to the price of AH .

I can't even make money by making it into higher grade

even if the ToS AND Flawless Square gem is FREE now you also cant craft with just 10M from flawless square to radiant star ..

I suspect all these commodities are fluctuating in prices across days in the week. Just like gold prices. Gold prices are always the cheapest on Wednesday (the middle of the weak) and the most expensive on weekends (people got time to play).

Just my weird thought.

The price was reset to 266 gold after server maintenance
The price had increased to 6m+ when you text me.
Few minutes later the price shot up to 10m+.
(It just like the sharpshooter resetting for DH after crit chance )

with a sudden change in price, quite difficult to not believe there are gem cheaters who got banned.
