Discussion on gems, rates, conspiracies and great snipes

What's up with the price on those gems (radiant star)

I can't think of any other reason than that they are duped. What other theories are possible?

1. How about you place a gem in a gear and sell it to me below gem cost then?
2. Yes, changing changing char yet they would sell off their green gems. at 10m. 1m on asian server.
3. I'm not asking if it is cheaper to buy gems off AH / RMAH. I'm not asking to be told if it's cheaper to buy gems off AH / RMAH. I KNOW it's cheaper to buy it off AH than to produce it which is why i'm asking. I'm asking for theories to why its cheap.
4. I'm not going to dispute your supply and demand theory because it's well thought out genius level -- just pure utmost incredible intelligence. Thanks for participating.

yeah agree. take a look at THIS then u shall see if it is supply or demand hahahaha

It's ridiculous. Even if people are quiting the game, who would sell for a mil gold, which is probably enough to feed an insect.

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Oct 8 2012, 10:36 AM)
1. It happens all the time. I sold my Ouroboros amulet with 50 DEX gem for 2-3 million. I don't need the amulet. Posted many times but no people bid. I just sold it cheap.

2. I don't see a problem. If you think items in Asian server are cheap, you can play in Asian server. It is a game afterall. You still get fun playing. (I haven't seen 1m radiant star in US server. Waiting patiently for the day to come).

3. It is cheap for many reasons. Demand and supply. People don't need it. People sell it cheap. Botters. It is good for both buyer and seller. Win-win situation. And there is no issue.

4. Let the price tell you the story. Simple as that.
*
1. Smart of you. Smarter of others to buy it.
2. Produced at 15.4-17.5m to sell at 1m. We're talking about theories and not about where we play. This topic is about Gem price theory, not casual its a game afterall talk. Fun to some, not so fun to others it's subjective if you do understand that subjectivity exists. Once again, topic is about gem price theory.
3. Once again, please stay on topic. It's cheap for many reasons -- MANY to you means demand & supply??
4. Price is derived from many factors, as you quoted 'many reasons'. It's not as simple as that. I have reason to raise an eyebrow on his price, and many will agree. You are firm on clever theory -- demand and supply, Economics 9090002.5.. so thanks for your input. Would be good to hear others now. Good thing someone pasted a worthless link earlier on 1m rates and actually a discussion on it.. of which many idiots didn't even figure out this demand and supply part. So now I have more opinions. I like many opinions... but i like your demand and supply opinion, no, firm theory the most.

Added on October 8, 2012, 1:13 pmoh yah, so when can i buy a 5m radiant star gem from you? I want it produced with your love.

Yeb, from the feedback I hear from gem traders, the rate they buy at is the same price, so either there's a big seller or actually our beloved company's been doing biz with gems "legally"

Cannot argue with him one.

LYF's #1 theorycrafting guru. Many reasons: Demand and supply
LYF's #1 successful player
LYF's #1 trader

Everyone in teh world sees things in his perspective.

I mean for a wiz, if he/she already has 1 radian star emerald, why would he make another and then sell it at hehe MARKET hehe demand and supply HEHE price.

But yeah, listen to theorycrafting guru, who is also businesscrafting guru. Bliz dislikes market liquidity, doesn't help biz.

well said polarbearz

price of anything is of course ultimately derived based on demand and supply

but 1m@asia? that's like 95% quit, remaining players fully equipped

if based on quitters then we must have had a lot of quitters by now who sold for rmah of which others bought cheap? i mean if quitters really just sold off everything then so much for them returning.. even for 1.0.5.

i can accept this if people are selling it cheap for real money.. but selling for less gold don't quite make sense. they'd take the gold and then lose even higher transaction fees @ rmah?

sell gem/gem+item for gold
and then sell gold at rmah

is just silly.. so much loss

one could sell at rmah cheap then someone else buy gems there to sell for gold.... and cycle it but it makes no sense unless even after 15% fee theres profit still.

inflation or supply and demand or not, there has to be some foul play earlier on causing an overabundance of of gems.

demand and supply moves for a reason

and a sudden spike like this..... well, more likely a sudden supply removal or a surge in demand, but looking at xfire charts -- demand? impossible. im gonna go with some cheaters got banned

nah, theorycrafter here says it's supply and demand. gem price spike is just a COINCIDENCE with server restart.

a note on gems

certainly supply and demand as i can see today.
5.4mil (last day) -> 11mil for topaz
and a drastic change in price for generally all gems

the game changed suddenly i guess... otherwise a huge surge in players... or otherwise..... a huge strange disappearance of mass gems (stolen by gem thief??).

what you're missing is theorycrafter insert gem in weapon and sell for cheap

because theorycrafters here first say many people play then don't play anymore so just insert gem into gear then sell and then quit. (yes for gold too when quitting)
