16GB should be just around RM250,
Win 8 for RM50, is quite right, $14.99 through the Windows upgrade promo..

What is the difference between upgraded win 8 and win 8?

I don't think there are any 13-14" FullHD devices for that price range.
Closest would be"
13"
Asus (2 years international warranty)

+1, the VivoBook (i3) is a pretty good pick. But do take note that the battery life is not exactly very long, and the screen is only 11.6" (not so good if you plan to do a lot of documentation)
11.6"
Asus VivoBook X200E-CT009H, i3-3217U + Intel UMA + (1366x768; touch)@RM1599[1.4kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8

If you prefer something bigger, then this:

What is the difference between upgraded win 8 and win 8?
*
If you have a license win7 (or vista, xp, ...), you can upgrade to win8 from microsoft website. The cost of upgrade depends on when you bought the earlier version of win. If you bought it between 2Jun12 to 31Jan13, the cost of upgrade is USD15. If you bought it earlier than the date range, I think is USD50.
The good thing about the upgrade is that you get Win8Pro. So if you have a machine with Win7HBasic, you can spend RM50 and get Pro smile.gif

The bad:
As far as I know, you need a base OS. That is, suppose you want to do a clean install next time (don't see why since Win8 has reset / restore feature, but just for the sake of example), you need to install your win7 first, then clean install the win8.
So far I have not tried getting a plain win8pro iso and see if the key from upgraded win8pro could activate it laugh.gif
Have anyone tried?

Thank you for your feedback.

Is there any other brands/model that have similar features with ASUS UX31A-C4032H?

When i look through ASUS catalog, i came across UX31A-R4003H and UX31A-R4005H. The price difference is about RM1k. The main difference between this two is their SSD space, right?
one is 128GB the othe one is 256GB.

A lot of users shared their experience in that thread.
I got the RM2999 spec. Slapped on an anti-glare screen protector, added another 4G RAM, taken out the HDD (use it as external HDD), put in Samsung 830 128G SSD. Put it on top of CM U3. Upgraded to Win8Pro. Very happy laugh.gif
Sorry, I hardly bring it around (use T420 for work). Always plug in when game. Temp could go quite high when under heavy load (hence the U3), but get better after I swapped out the HDD.

This one from Acer is a direct competitor nod.gif
13"
Acer [Ultrabook] Aspire S7-391-53314G12, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920x1080; touch)@RM3799, 4GB, W8
I've seen the real thing and its really impressive, doesn't give the same old "cheap" feeling anymore, its a premium device now brows.gif
Expect the Asus to be more or less similarly priced...

As for the 2 Asus ZenBooks you've mentioned, the price difference is accounted for with the SSD (256GB vs 128GB) as well as processor difference (i7 vs i5)

I called one of the Lenovo shops about Y580.

The guy say add RM350 will get 16G RAM. And add RM50, get Win8.

Does it worth it or wait for Y500?

Thanks
*
There is already a win8 version. You don't need to add RM50 to get it. The seller most likely is holding some old stocks. On the other hand, if you get the Win7HB version, and spend RM50, you get Win8Pro laugh.gif Take your pick.

Not sure whether this is a fair question or not. Is it worth the while checking out clearance sales that are held in places like Harvey Norman for good prices? Last I went there, most of the models were older models.
Would there be any price reductions in older models in view of newer laptops coming in with windows 8?
Cheers

Based on what I've seen so far, nope, there will not be price reductions.
Hell, the 4-5 year old laptops in Digital Mall's AonePlus are still priced the same as the price when they were new, and still a lot of customers fell for them doh.gif

If you are really serious about color reproduction, top up and get a MacBook Pro 13 nod.gif
Otherwise:

15.6"
Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8

Lenovo Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HBasic, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty

But you'll need to recalibrate the color accuracy iinm
