First time looking at Quadcopters...been reading and was thinking either the Syma X5 or Hubsan X4 FPV.....any bro can recommend which is okay and where to get it from local shops?

got it before i saw supermotoxl's post on the LishiToys. i actually placed another order after i played for about 15mins on my X5C. i know i'm going to wanna play more and so got myself the LishiToys. and its surprisingly cheap too (usd36 includes shipping). and i'm impressed it to so fast to get it delivered to him. plus, i saw his blog that mentioned he might consider using this model to replace his other stuffs and he plans to mod it to have FPV. so, definitely nice to have what he's getting. p

So its better than Hubsan and Syma?

I'm not forcing anyone into Lishitoys L6052, most of my opinion, test, review and past experience flying bunch of quads tell me that L6052 suit best for those who like to fly often and bash a lot. L6052 seems to share common spare parts like other quad such as generic motors. The plastic takes huge beatings too. I also flown Hubsan and Syma but for the price, durability and good looks L6052 is way to go. Hubsan parts are expensive and not generic while SYMA have complicated controller, jerky flight controller and some gimmick. Just google around or youtube L6052 seems to be picking up popularity among casual flyer. I'm getting my second one soon for modification. The frame design and controller looks awesome. If you remove the top heavy shells the quad frame looks like pros!

ya, partly why i mentioned that is coz you mentioned you're looking into using this as your replacement.

for me, i'd definitely wanna follow 'sifu' footsteps. that way, if i wanna do what you do later, easier coz got someone to follow.

your comments on SYMA... i do notice at times the controls are not too responsive. but its first time for me. so, can't compare. but ya... getting a second one... and dem... should have seen the code earlier...

that's the second time i missed out... first time, i go get syma then after that, see your post about the Lishitoys. then second time is... i ordered one lishitoy liao... now only see the price. haiz... maybe get a 3rd one?!? alamak... heh heh...

a bit upset. thought fly inside the house a bit to do fine tuning coz I noticed the quad was simply flying around a bit. after one battery, still could not fine tune it. still moving around a bit.

is this normal or can good quad just hover at the same spot?

But hubsan got fpv ready....seems cool

without an actually hover hold circuit, most flyers would drift around. with helis, it's called ground effect: http://www.copters.com/aero/ground_effect.html.

this turbulence also comes from objects in your living room. cupboard, wall, sofa, table & etc. the smaller/lighter the craft, the easier it is affected by it.

Yup its normal. You'll need skillz to keep it hold in place. Bigger quadcopter require high tech GPS satelite to keep it holding outdoors.

got it... ya, someone mentioned that to me early this morning when i was sharing my experience. i was thinking of fine-tuning the quad. thought i could try to keep it like 2-3 cm above ground and then see how it goes... but it was just swaying here and there.

anyway, found out last night that i could "recalibrate" the gyro... after pair, move the two sticks to lower right. plan to do that this evening and see if it improves.

nice... wah, really envy la... but at the same time, really dun wanna be poisoned coz its not a cheap hobby... hahaha... if i have to go grab all the stuffs. but so tempted to grab that TX/ controller you mentioned. but now... RM so weak, the exchange rate hurts a bit... :S

also, i noticed the TX on the BangGood website is Mode 2... which i'm still not sure if that is the mode i like.

speaking of mode... somehow, i think the mode on the SYMA controller is weird. i checked some websites and compare with SYMA controller...

really? well that sucks.

syma out of the picture as my first quad then. the weird modes will definitely screw the flying for someone who's been using mode 1 for close to 4 years.

how about the other cheap quad, like wltoys, hubsan? do their tx mode conforms to the standard?

seems mode 2 is quite 'popular'. if so, the syma isn't an issue since generic mode 2 = syma mode 1.

but if someone is used to the generic mode 1, then ya... might be a problem. syma controller (at least for my X5C-1), the throttle is fixed on left stick only.

The advantage of "MODE 2" is once you are proficient in flying you can easily do cool "3D" flight or unique aerobatic tricks on plane and heli because one can precisely control the movement "independently". For example in "Mode 2" The other left thumb concentrate where 'you are going' (throttle + yaw/rudder) while the other thumbs on the right concentrate on doing 360 degree stunts (aileron/rolls + elevator). I can fly anything with just right thumb control while the other left hand take a break holding cold mug of orange juice.

Another important note about mode 2 is its generically common because when you play flight simulator on PC game with joystick or real life plane/jet the control is 100% with right stick movement and throttle always on the left hand and yaw/rudder on your foot pedal. So you are actually controlling the same method as real one. Is if you wanna stick to real life and pro = MODE 2.

mode 2 is generally common in the US. mode 1 is common in asia.

that depends. i have failed to switched to mode 2 multiple times simply because mode 1 has become muscle memory . i can fly in mode 2, but i wont be able to recover my helis on impulse if something goes wrong. so i'll stick with the idea, "the mode you start with, is the mode you'll use for the rest of your flying career".

plus, to me, it's much easier to do circles with a heli with mode1(left stick with a little right stick for banking). i suppose that would count as mode1 advantage. also, i'm a righty, so i naturally don't trust my left hand with the throttle .

as with your example, mode 2 originally comes from a plane's perspective, so that's where it shine. that same example can't be applied on a heli as forward is not just throttle.

playing RC doesn't mean you can fly a real craft, so i don't really see an advantage on any mode. just stick with what you're familiar with.

Yup, muscle memory problem. So for newbies choose your path because it will be permanently stuck forever. I have a friend of mine stuck in Mode 3 which is hard for me to train him neither other can help him to progress his flight. Mode 3 and Mode 4 is super rare.

in regards to the Mode... ya, i guess first mode = your permanent mode. the SYMA controller i had started with Mode 1 (which means the common Mode 2). i'm actually kinda ok with that.

@SupermotoXL the TH9X transmitter... seems now i see the prices... almost usd90+... that's like rm300+... ouch. is the mode fixed? can change? coz like on the Syma controller i have atm, can change mode.

The mode can be easily change mechanically inside TH9X, you can check lots of youtube video tutorial on how to change the modes. Last time i bought Mode 1 and after minutes i got my self changed to mode 2 using just screw driver.


TH9X have back removable radio module so good for future upgrade to long range FrSky, DSM Spektrum or other radio module choice of your choice for pro level upgrades. TH9X should cost around RM250 if you can find good local bargain. You can also upgrade to latest firmware with lots pf features. So this is perfect affordable radio that you can grow along. I have 3x TH9x fully active and great range. The receiver also very cheap for only RM35. You can also Bind to WL-Toys models like V911, V939, V929 and WL-Toys planes and boat.
