Any quadcopter recommendation for beginner?
Syma X5C Explorers 6 Axis 2.4G 4CH RC Quadcopter With HD Camera seems to be affordable.

Anywhere I can buy it physically? Found a lot offer in Lelong, but prefer to buy of shelf with some guide.
*
i've just started to explore this QUADCOPTER as hobby too...

what i found... lelong. there's one shop in Endah Parade selling for rm190. one of the better prices i can find for the X5C.

but recently, got intro to FPV concept. after some read up, including this article (http://www.gizchina.com/2014/07/06/top-5-r...ters-beginners/), i'm tempted to try the Hubsan instead.

currently looking around for best deal... and reading backwards (for this thread). wanna find out if anyone organise bulk order or something...

Short thoughts on my UDI 818A

Bought for RM152 via lazada.com.my  thumbup.gif . Very impressed on speed of delivery, just 2 days after I ordered (and this is year end !)

This is my 1st quad, so comments may be noob-ish. Have flown it 10 times now (ie: 10 charges) and getting better at it smile.gif good stable flyer when there is no wind. With even a small tiny breeze this drone will struggle, unless you fly it close to the ground. Batt life is around 5 minutes of flight and 40 minutes to fully charge.

Also suggest google-ing around for the English manual online, was slightly confused at 1st on how to attach the camera.

Overall a happy purchase, now hoping sifu's here can recommend good spare batteries for this drone
*
read abt this model. but some say its got FPV and some say don't have... did yours come with FPV -- meaning can see what the camera on drone sees in real time?

most of those cheap stuff are just flyers with a camera mounted. not FPV. FPV requires video rx/tx in addition to your flyers tx/rx.
*
but like the hubsan fpv x4... it's fpv, no? although probably cheap one...

also see: http://www.hubsan.com/productinfo_11.html

but i know you mean these are the 'real' FPV:

as you said.
you know the meaning already nod.gif usually the differences are:
- camera quality
- additional circuitry, likg GPS, aviation display and other cool junks
- quality of video tx/rx. wifi vs standard radio

tempted to get the hubsan fpv x4 since i'm just an amateur and dun think i'll be spending too much (time and $$) on it. just wondering if there are any cheaper alternative that is also quite reliable. i'm assuming hubsan is kinda reliable. cheapest i have seen so far for this is on banggood.com. but not sure how easy to clear customs, etc... *sigh* plus, if need to buy spare parts, claim warranty, etc... :S

but the X4 Pro is really impressive. i saw it can do waypoint, etc... wow...

and i'm sure by end of this year, we'll probably see those that can even "follow me" like the airdog.

If you wanted FPV with quality performance with less budget at hand which is far cheaper than Hubsan FPV X4 i suggest you try DIY home made a dependable FPV quad platform.  Here is one of my home made FPV quad copter i build less than budget RM450 below (if you supply your own monitor).  Its is an old ladybird V929 quad i bought from hobby shop and convert into serious hardcore fpv platform. Its only around 70gram full flying weight, long flying range, small palm size and ultra durable, can handle heavy wind too: thumbup.gif

Here my build log you can follow for your own DIY stuff: http://www.supermotoxl.com/FPV/UAV-models-...enu-id-119.html

Here my video enjoying my FPV flight on these mods FPV ladybird. Most cheapest home made FPV quad i made with HD on board live video feed.

So you guys can start building your own quality FPV flights now.  biggrin.gif
**oh btw don't forget to subscribe to my youtube channel, lots more cool flying stuff coming in.  nod.gif

definitely going to check this out... though this case, i might DIY since i dun think i can spare much time -- so prefer to spend whatever time flying rather than building.

but i'll check out in details and see if i can DIY. might consider this as a family project... wink.gif

many thanks for sharing...

although it may look cool, i'd avoid that. i could never really control any android-based rc sim properly, without sticks, it just doesn't feel right. well, maybe you can get use to it though, who knows.

i somewhat hates walkera. their stuff updates too fast. i bought their fpv400 last year, this year it's discontinued already.  doh.gif  good thing i haven't been crashing too badly, else parts will be hard to find.
*
oh, ok... good to hear. i read some foreign tech sites and they seem to think walkera is a good and 'affordable' brand.

the quote i got includes a transmitter... something 4. lemme go check again.

update 1: devo 4 controller. is this good? bad? for me... plus point for walkera is that its god 6 props... i read that it means better control.

anyway, didn't check at store. only checked when I came back...

the controller... the left side... pushing up/ down, the stick don't go back to center. but when push stick left/ right, it goes back to center. is this normal?

Yup that's normal for left stick to do that, the left side is for throttle and yaw control while the right side is roll and pitch control (mode 2).
*
got it. thanks.

tmrw will be my maiden flight. first time flying. the only other RC I played was car (a Nikko... long, long time ago), which isn't really that exciting anymore... biggrin.gif

First time looking at Quadcopters...been reading and was thinking either the Syma X5 or Hubsan X4 FPV.....any bro can recommend which is okay and where to get it from local shops?
*
x5c, i got from a shop @ Endah Parade. it's now about rm200.

got it before i saw supermotoxl's post on the LishiToys. i actually placed another order after i played for about 15mins on my X5C. i know i'm going to wanna play more and so got myself the LishiToys. and its surprisingly cheap too (usd36 includes shipping). and i'm impressed it to so fast to get it delivered to him. plus, i saw his blog that mentioned he might consider using this model to replace his other stuffs and he plans to mod it to have FPV. so, definitely nice to have what he's getting. p

so maybe consider that? Lishitoys L6052

I'm not forcing anyone into Lishitoys L6052,  most of my opinion, test, review and past experience flying bunch of quads tell me that L6052 suit best for those who like to fly often and bash a lot.  L6052 seems to share common spare parts like other quad such as generic motors.  The plastic takes huge beatings too.  I also flown Hubsan and Syma but for the price, durability and good looks L6052 is way to go.  Hubsan parts are expensive and not generic while SYMA have complicated controller, jerky flight controller and some gimmick. Just google around or youtube L6052 seems to be picking up popularity among casual flyer.  I'm getting my second one soon for modification. The frame design and controller looks awesome.  If you remove the top heavy shells the quad frame looks like pros!

Oh btw if you guys getting L6052 at gearbest.com  you can use this coupon code, it will reduce price to $31.99 so save your pocket.

Btw i'll be updating my website content for L6052 mods soon.

ya, partly why i mentioned that is coz you mentioned you're looking into using this as your replacement.

for me, i'd definitely wanna follow 'sifu' footsteps. that way, if i wanna do what you do later, easier coz got someone to follow.

your comments on SYMA... i do notice at times the controls are not too responsive. but its first time for me. so, can't compare. but ya... getting a second one... and dem... should have seen the code earlier... sad.gif

that's the second time i missed out... first time, i go get syma then after that, see your post about the Lishitoys. then second time is... i ordered one lishitoy liao... now only see the price. haiz... maybe get a 3rd one?!? alamak... heh heh...

a bit upset. thought fly inside the house a bit to do fine tuning coz I noticed the quad was simply flying around a bit. after one battery, still could not fine tune it. still moving around a bit.

is this normal or can good quad just hover at the same spot?

without an actually hover hold circuit, most flyers would drift around. with helis, it's called ground effect: http://www.copters.com/aero/ground_effect.html.

this turbulence also comes from objects in your living room. cupboard, wall, sofa, table & etc. the smaller/lighter the craft, the easier it is affected by it.
*
got it... ya, someone mentioned that to me early this morning when i was sharing my experience. i was thinking of fine-tuning the quad. thought i could try to keep it like 2-3 cm above ground and then see how it goes... but it was just swaying here and there.

anyway, found out last night that i could "recalibrate" the gyro... after pair, move the two sticks to lower right. plan to do that this evening and see if it improves.

I've got bunch of Syma junk, later i'll post photo of my collection.   Don't worry i'll make more documentation how to make an FPV conversion soon. Right now busy flying.. biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
Yup its normal. You'll need skillz to keep it hold in place.  Bigger quadcopter require high tech GPS satelite to keep it holding outdoors.

nice... wah, really envy la... but at the same time, really dun wanna be poisoned coz its not a cheap hobby... hahaha... if i have to go grab all the stuffs. but so tempted to grab that TX/ controller you mentioned. but now... RM so weak, the exchange rate hurts a bit... :S

also, i noticed the TX on the BangGood website is Mode 2... which i'm still not sure if that is the mode i like.

speaking of mode... somehow, i think the mode on the SYMA controller is weird. i checked some websites and compare with SYMA controller...
SYMA controller MODE 1
LEFT STICK: Throttle/ hover & Turn left/right aka YAW
RIGHT STICK: Forward/Backward aka pitch & sideward fly aka roll

SYMA controller MODE 2
LEFT STICK: Throttle/ hover & sideward fly aka roll
RIGHT STICK: Forward/Backward aka pitch & turn left/right aka YAW

from websites (the correct one?!?):
MODE 1
LEFT STICK: Forward/Backward aka pitch & Turn left/right aka YAW
RIGHT STICK: Throttle/ hover & sideward fly aka roll

MODE 2
LEFT STICK: Throttle/ hover & Turn left/right aka YAW
RIGHT STICK: Forward/Backward aka pitch & sideward fly aka roll

in otherwards, i like mode 1 (SYMA) and mode 2 (websites)...

really? well that sucks.  doh.gif

syma out of the picture as my first quad then. the weird modes will definitely screw the flying for someone who's been using mode 1 for close to 4 years.  sweat.gif

how about the other cheap quad, like wltoys, hubsan? do their tx mode conforms to the standard?
*
seems mode 2 is quite 'popular'. if so, the syma isn't an issue since generic mode 2 = syma mode 1.

but if someone is used to the generic mode 1, then ya... might be a problem. syma controller (at least for my X5C-1), the throttle is fixed on left stick only.

Anyone tried this "Lishitoys L6052"?  I bought for cheap usd35 since it looks ooler than my old V929 and arrived in good condition from china in 4 days
*
maybe only apply to you... smile.gif

i placed my on Sat night. even if dun count weekend, its already Tue and my status still shows processing. so i contacted customer support and they said will try to expedite. *sigh*

long wait... but never mind la... since i got one to play with.

in regards to the Mode... ya, i guess first mode = your permanent mode. the SYMA controller i had started with Mode 1 (which means the common Mode 2). i'm actually kinda ok with that.

another subject... i noticed many refer to BangGood and also GearBest. how come no mention of local shops? was told can get some at quite good price from shops (distri) like: http://pennmart.com/v2/index.php?route=inf...nformation_id=6

@SupermotoXL the TH9X transmitter... seems now i see the prices... almost usd90+... that's like rm300+... ouch. is the mode fixed? can change? coz like on the Syma controller i have atm, can change mode.

thanks... and wah... 8AA batteries?!? yikes... what's the diff with th9x besides the extra channels? anyway, i'll probably google as well.

QUOTE(SupermotoXL @ Feb 10 2015, 02:42 PM)
The mode can be easily change mechanically inside TH9X, you can check lots of youtube video tutorial on how to change the modes.  Last time i bought Mode 1 and after minutes i got my self changed to mode 2 using  just screw driver.  thumbup.gif
*
got it.

well... i'm still very new so not sure if i wanna invest that much. but if i do, any website that sells just the drone (without the transmitter)? coz thinking if i do get, i dun wanna have so many bundled TX lying around at home. can also save $$$.

not the cheaper toy grade quads, but the higher end ones or a diy one. it depends on the control board used. those tx have their own compatible rx that you need to attach to the control board.
*
oh, so i can just go out and grab the FlySky TX and use it to control... say my SYMA X5C? <-- didn't go check to see if the board is compatible or not, though... but i hope u get my point.

yea!!! finally my order has been "shipped" though the image of the parcel is so blur... can't make out anything.

but they gave a tracking number and i'm surprised... originating from NL?

is that the same for yours, SupermotoXL?

using the default board, not likely. X5C and other cheap quads are not hobby grade flyers. so most of the stuff are build-in, to keep cost low. if you can't remove the default rx from the board, then you can't attach a new one. similar concept to: if you want to upgrade your PC's CPU, you need to be able to remove the old one.
*
hmmm... then when SupermotoXL fly those lishitoys and also that ladybug... using bundled TX or the FlySky? meaning he need to mod the ladybug board?

hmmm... lemme go check back his blog and see if i can find anything... smile.gif
