hey guys, just got into this as a new hobby.
need your advice on getting some item overseas (US).
from what I read, some members successfully bought some from US ebay seller.
but I have few questions in mind,
1. AFAIK above RM500 (say >USD130) will be required to pay taxes, may I know how much is the tax?
2. Is there a limit to the blade length for folders before it is liable for custom confiscation?
Thanks!

from what i know, anything over 500 is an instant 6% GST and for tools such as knife maybe 25% on top also. Its all depends on luck with customs

Thanks for the advice KajumaO2.

Paying extra for taxes is bearable, confiscation by customs is not.

Bought a hammock from ebay US for Rm650 (North Carolina state). Didnt get any tax as far as I know.

Probably It had been factored in to the delivery which cost me Rm170 (USPS First Class Package International Service)

probably u got lucky.
afaik usps fee is pretty standard for 1st class...and definitely does not factor in gst.
gst is only supposed to be charged once reach here... not from there.

Thanks for sharing epsilon_chinwk86!
It might be luck, it might also be due to the first class service.
I'm quite confused as there are sellers that offered very minimal (some are also free) postage fee while there are other that requires substantial amount of postage fee.
Yes, it is due to the better postage service, but why the large difference in pricing? Could it be that it's less of a hassle to handle the importation process?

After 20 days of waiting finally got my order from GearBest. I noticed instead of Sanrenmu brand it's stamped with Windrunner. I opted for green color since it's $5 cheaper than black, but they shipped black instead lol. It's indeed sharp, easily can slice paper

Hey guys
Did anyone tried to order 2 or 3 knives at one go from gear best? Would there be a problem?
Can't stand the "titanium" coated models, especially the g7533 cf....
