QUOTE(Pieceofsheet @ Jan 4 2015, 08:16 PM) Yup, i pledged for it last month. But damn sian gotta wait for at least half a year before it arrives. Don't know how it will fare, the review they gave looks promising though, able to match with baratza grinders. Perform equal or better than vario http://www.1stincoffee.com/baratza-vario-w.htm |

QUOTE(mel5582 @ Jan 4 2015, 01:57 PM) Have you pledged for it? I've also topped up for ceramic burrs.. Still skeptical about the grind consistency rivaling the Vario haha. But... But... I couldn't resist lol Well it's still usd$170 for me to get something a little better as best to match my mcf. Not a grinder collector. Save that $$ and space for hg one better. It's more for ppl here playing with cheap grinder to get a serious upgrade This post has been edited by patryn33: Jan 4 2015, 09:38 PM |

QUOTE(Keng @ Dec 28 2014, 10:26 AM) No matter how fine I grind or how hard I tamped, I still couldn't prolong the extraction to over 25s, I can't even make it past 17s for god's sake. Your mod got u there?Turns out the shim under the burr was too thin and all I had to do was added a ticket shim. Voila! If not u should consider the ROK |

Wow! U have so many toys and brewing methods.
I am interested in new brewing methods but I am sure after trying them out a few times I am sure to return to espresso. So I quit exploring. With 2 kids need to save for college.😅 those lesson to learn horse back riding, golf, ice skating, tennis or swimming not cheap. My moka pot, handpresso only used when I go camping or stay in cabins or cottages or place with kitchen. Go office I just don't feel like making coffee, just drink tea. I admire ppl who takes the time to grind and make a cup of areopress. This post has been edited by patryn33: Jan 5 2015, 05:31 AM |

QUOTE(mel5582 @ Jan 5 2015, 10:26 AM) At one point, I did consider this portable espresso maker.. Lucky I didn't see this when I bought my handpresso.http://www.portaspresso.com/ But now I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't be camping anytime soon.. On other land I am too cheap then to get that. How easy is siphon? This master say it's much harder than espresso This post has been edited by patryn33: Jan 5 2015, 11:08 AM |

QUOTE(wadthehellz @ Jan 5 2015, 11:27 AM) for burr grinder should we clean the burr frequently? hmmm. i got a electric burr grinder from my friends as birthday present which is from taobao also and every time i use it, there are some grounds stick on the burr. Should I clean the burr after every time I use? if u can afford the time sure do it everytime.but I do it weekly. if U hated the taste of old coffee just grind 1-2 secs and dump always the grounds. don't want to waste here are ways to reuse the ground http://www.moneycrashers.com/ways-reuse-coffee-grinds/ |

QUOTE(Keng @ Jan 7 2015, 10:39 AM) Need some help here. I haven't try how a good espresso shot should taste like. I've tried shots that I pulled but comparing to what I read from other articles, I don't think it came anywhere close to what some call a 'god shot'. try readingMy shots taste bitter and sometimes sour, strong bodied yes. What I read was that good espresso shots don't taste bitter or sour at all. Some would put it that the shots should taste like a concentrated scent of the bean, only that it would be tasted with your tongue instead of nose. I went to some claimed 'good' cafes to try their espresso but they too taste like IMO similar to what I pulled. So am I alone in this dilemma? I know it'll be length-ly discussion if I go into the details of the process, so I'll leave that out until later. Oh, my brew ratio is usually 30%. Should I take it higher? http://drinks.seriouseats.com/2013/09/coff...-equipment.html Spend some time watching this at the 7 min mark to 11min.. and the 16-18min mark is good info, 36min mark talks about grinders This post has been edited by patryn33: Jan 7 2015, 11:42 PM |
