thanks for your valuable input..  yes, we have extensively read about the sources of these machines.. not sure if you've noticed that the company, welhome is also the producer of commercial espresso machines such as la-cimbali and casadio.. wpm is just for their home series of espresso machines.

apart from comparing with other entry level machines such as the rancilio silvia, what other comparable machines that have such value for money for noob espresso beginners like us?
currently we're using a generic 15-bar, pressurized filter machine and we noticed the air-infused crema is a bit fake.. and hence we're looking at something better.

yes, we're contemplating at either importing a unit directly from china or taking a look at dankoff (the recently concluded MBC 2015 @chinwoo, dankoff also showcase the wpm KD-210S2, which we're also eyeing).. we're glad to see a few welhome machines at MBC 2015 too.. so currently it's either the KD-135b or KD-210S2 coupled with a WPM ZD-12 grinder to boot..

fyi, we import our fresh beans from china too..  smile.gif

Not sure if u read it correctly, the company who make welhome do not make casadio etc. these Italian pro machines are still made in Italy. This company is a official distrubuter not manufacturer from what I found on a quick Google search

Import coffee beans from China when they don't grow coffee?? I thought u will do it in the region

parts were made in china and their presence in hong kong is much more for sales and marketing..
yes, china do import beans for roasting.. we get the roasted beans.. roasted, packed, sent and reached us within 5 days to a week(from roasting date)..
tested one with ethiopian origin (didn't state clearly if it's from the 3 regions;  harar, sidamo, yirgacheffe).. now testing some samples from columbian origin (without specific regions again)..
have read somewhere before, that china do grow coffee trees, not sure if it's the arabica or the robusta types.. it's mostly for local consumptions though..
*
China just started growing and expending coffee plantation back in 2011 or so. Takes about 5-10yrs long term investment. Yunan is a major province doing that, closer to Thailand

As for parts making in China yes! Final QC is still in Italy.

China certainly import beans, Malaysia too! Cheaper to go farm to China to Malaysia? I thought cheaper to do farm to Malaysia. Roasting is an art too, China roaster are doing a better job than your local roaster? Same beans coming from different roaster very lightly to taste different

No old fashion Chinese friends in China would go for overseas model over those they can find locally for quality. Say roomba they rather go for the export usa model vs what they can find locally not to mention it's cheaper

Anyway, gonna try the Kinto Slow Coffee..

I don't know any coffee stuff, but is JURA brand a good one? I saw it in my new office pantry
*
Jura is a good brand great customer service here in states
If u looking a fully automatic machine Jura is better than saeco. But entry level these days made in Portugal

For < 3000 can get http://www.shopjura.com/factory-certified/...50-classic.html

For < 3700 can get a very nice http://www.shopjura.com/factory-certified/...-touch-tft.html

Thing with Jura u have to buy their cleaning products. They do last from my experience. Those who don't maintain them they break and do cost a lot to fix!

If you looking for any grinder sure, if u looking for something capable of doing better I think it's beats the normal Hario. Over 2000 backers and 19 days to go.

A lido already usd$175 and that was usd$80. Not all grinder made the same way

I am looking at HG one, any cheaper options that perform as good as that?

Personally I like farm fresh due to its taste and affordability.  Farmhouse is overrated.  Processes in Australia,  frozen,  shipped  and process again in Malaysia.

Not so fresh in my opinion.

3) Im planning to buy a home based roaster to further reduce cost and unlimited suply of fresh roasted beans . any suggestion for model and supply of raw cofee bean? do u think this is feasible?
*
to roasting that is an art by itself on top blending.

ppl have mod pop corn maker to roast for it can be uneven etc. U can be using up alot of beans to try and error.

here is a nice chart for u to start your journey in selecting the right model.
https://www.sweetmarias.com/roastercomparisonchart.php
http://www.burmancoffee.com/homeroasting/

alot of ppl preordering this but not cheap
http://aillio.com/?page_id=9

raw beans, not sure how U can buy locally. U can check with local coffer roaster if they sell U raw beans.
ie
http://www.khakicoffeebar.com/roasters-product.php

if not you can go straight to the farm
ie
http://ethicalcoffee.co/home

or try such
