How did you set your skerton for a french press?
I set it 7 notches from closed and I still get a little too much sediment to my liking.

1 notches 60 degree turn?

I'm using a Hario pot. Don't think it makes much of a difference right?
Maybe I'm just not used to sediments in my coffee. Or I might try a slightly coarser grind.

I have a Krups GVX2, and me too can't get it coarse enough, compared to the pre-ground coffee I bought from Sanfrancisco Coffee.

I think I might try to live with the sediments because I'm thinking of investing in a moka pot first. drool.gif

But then again I was thinking of getting into tea making as well sweat.gif
Will the stainless steel moka pot at Ikea do the job? hmm.gif

If you wan to get moka pot, then try to get Bialetti Brikka. It is the only moka pot that gave you 'crema'.
But for me i nv use moka pot as French Press are more convenient.

Very nice topic, learn a lot about coffee here...
Tried luwak coffee from bali and malaysia(Paradigm mall), and found out Malaysia better, stronger taste and aroma...
Using french press, hario grinder and highlander beans, all just less than RM300... worth item

Trying out the pour-over method (using the lovely Hario Buono wub.gif) but I get much more bitter coffee compared to the french press. Am I doing it wrong (over-extracting) or are my beans stale?

they are located right above KK supermart, keep an eye out for that.
and they changed their name to Jin Yi by Ritual Coffee, still run by the same couple Chin & Ee Mei.

MR. DIY selling it at RM3.90 if i am not mistaken. U can even grab it at Daiso at Rm5.

would humbly recommend getting proper milk frothing machine, or a proper machine with the frothing arm if u are interested to venture down the route of espresso and espresso + milk based drinks.
after all, "almost" what you pay is what u get, if u start buying cheaper frother like that u might end up having to wait till cows come home before the milk is really froth to the level and the way u see it is done by the machines.

Have you guys try out this blue mountain coffee before? Wonder how good is it.

My area just open a coffee shop that include blue mountain in their menu. Syphon, press or drip. But the price is rm60/cup.  sweat.gif  Not sure want to try with that price.  hmm.gif

there is this cafe call niche cafe in puchong (facebook page http://www.facebook.com/CafeNiche?fref=ts
address: 6-02 Jalan Kenari 18A, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, 47100 Selangor, Selangor, Malaysia) who sells blue mountain coffee via pour over.
during non promo period it is priced at RM25 per cup.
i am still learning to appreciate coffee and the fuss about the different flavors so i am yet to be able to gauge how good it is, to be honest.
