QUOTE(exkay @ Oct 17 2012, 03:48 PM) They are at 68-M, Jalan SS21/39, Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya. Here's their location http://www.facebook.com/JinYibyCoffeeRitual. According to the operator Coffee Ritual now supplying coffee equipments and conducts barista training to businesses and Jin Yi Cafe is their food and beverage outlet. They are both located in the same premise. They are just right above Sri Penang Restaurant which is next to KK Supermart. Uptown 7 (parking complex) is the best place to park. If you wish to purchase any coffee equipments you can visit them and at the same time enjoy their burgers and coffee. They have good food and coffee too.

Got tot test Trung Nguyen The Buon Me Thuot Special which is a blend of Arabica, Robusta, Chari (Excelsa) and Catimor beans.
Using French Press and not dripping as i am not that patient. hehe.
Verdit... Very nice aroma with a strong nutty smell. Love it when paired it with sweetened condensed milk.

QUOTE(ericchung @ Oct 16 2012, 08:44 AM) The alcohol which you are looking for is called methylated spirit. It is commonly use for camping burners. It is odourless and will not create any smoke or carbon while burning. You can get it in most of the hardware shops i.e ACE Hardware chain shop. Methylated spirit comes in a small glass bottle packing or a larger packing which is 3 or 4 liters. For your case a small bottle is sufficient. I have been using it for my syphon before, but I have just bought a gas burner from Coffee Ritual at Damansara Utama ( www.coffeeritual.com). They sell coffee makers and accessories for home and commercial. The gas burner is convenient to use and you can also adjust/control the flame. Enjoy your coffee brewing! How much is ya burner roughly cost ya?

Penang always has Lighthouse Coffee, Vincent if im not mistaken. You can get great fresh coffee there. I've never had any, prohibitive distance. You can always order from KL from Dankoff or My Espresso Cafe. Any tried Aeropress, Moka Pot and Pro Espresso machine here? Whats you stand? Aeropress is smooth, too smooth, not strong enough, Moka is COOL, but hot and bitter, espresso machine is niceeee. But I do haf an aeropress at office, I grind fresh in the morning from home, bring to office to bew, but at times, bawa also 3 days later baru brew. Moka port, sold mine few years back, menyesal also since it is really very COOL!

Yup, Aeropress then too be too smooth and not strong enough even in invertod method. Moka in the otherhand must buy Brikka. They can create fake 'crema' Anyway, ntg beats having a real espresso machine. Synesso, where art thou?

From Ikea, its only RM10, somewhere near the plate cups section after the cooking utensils.
I dun do French Press, messy, adjusting my stepless grinder to the french is very hard n messy, sure got some fine grind in the press. Still not the strength I desire.
Did someone say synesso? Haha... Aiyo, but once you are there, the beans and the skill is more important. I believe a competent barista can pull excellent shot from a USD1k machine, much better than an imcompetent on a USD3k LM GS3.

I saw in parkson have this vaccum syphon for coffee around rm200+. I wonder if its worth buying...but it looks cool.
Also has anyone tried civets coffee? My dad bought some beans from vietnam..cost nearly USD$90 for a small pack. I tried some, it tends to be acidic and fruity. The brewing method is a drip holder over the coffee cup. I wonder can I get a better taste sensation with another method.

Jes adjust your grind setting to watever method you are using. I myself find it to be super overated.

hey, nice to see someone who prefers French Press, I have both the Press and Drip at home, but I prefer the Press, tried Aeropress twice but haven't got the urge to buy it yet.
I am very shocked that you do latte with french press, I always thought they can only be done with a clean cup. Do you do anything to remove the "mud"? I own a Krups GVX2 grinder and I find that it creates more mud than those pre-ground coffee I bought from SF Coffee.

Of course I wont get those superb latte but it's good enought to kick my day. This post has been edited by adriankhoo153: Nov 28 2012, 05:21 PM
