For what you're getting, some of you might find RM999 neglectable. Good for you.
We love the Nexus 7 too. But for questioning the RM999 price point, we are shunned as "complainers"? Sad to see people defending a company at maximizing its profits when mindful consumers are only asking for better value. I guess some people love gadgets more so. went to senheng just now, only 1 Nexus 7 in their computer system at RM999, my wild guess is they only sell the 16GB. Good thing is they offering 1+1 year warranty.

I think people have misunderstood the situation here. It's not that we don't want the product at a cheaper price, EVERYONE wants cheaper products.
The fact of the matter is that US got Nexus 7 at a cheaper price because 1) Google wants to dominate the 7" market there 2) Google is aiming to make profits from app sales. Most of the world will receive the Nexus 7 at around RM900+ because ASUS, unlike Google, is a manufacturer which need to make profit on the products they sell. In fact, if you compare the profit margins of the Nexus 7 with other ASUS tablets, the margin is a lot less for this. The fact that the US get products at a cheaper price is nothing new, the Brits have been complaining for years that due to the high value of the pound sterling they're always paying more for gadgets (eg. PS3 at release). Conclusion is this: We don't like the price either but we accept that profits need to be made and instead see RM999 as a fair reflection of the value of the product (compared to other tablets). Edit: grammar. This post has been edited by highbury1913: Sep 20 2012, 10:47 PM |

The problem is there is ppl whining that RM999 is expensive even tho they can always buy imported set . The things inside the box and the warranty is totally same .
Furthermore the price will certainly drop slowly from time to time . The sengQ 2 years warranty is an extra also . Take it as you pay more for extended warranty . |

I guess most of the complaints is bcoz the high expectation of ppl towards the nexus 7 price...ppl expect it to cheaper than what sellers in lyn is selling but the price end up to b same or a bit more than what lyn seller r selling...some ppl even directly convert the price from usd to ringgit and hoping that it would b sold at the same price when asus launched it in Malaysia...

Go find china brand that `cheap'. Its as simple as that. If a makcik want to sell her nasik lemak, do u think consumer can instruct her to sell it at RMxx price? For me I'm happy for my nex 7 and the price that i paid is very much worth it. Btw anyone know how to enable auto arrange for text while zooming in/out? u know the function like in ICS phone? I'm left wondering if any of you have the smarts to tell when being ripped off, let alone bargaining a better offer.
Of course you'll pay up without questioning while rationalizing the deal as a good offer; furthermore that merchant you just dealt with must have lots of mouths to feed at the end of the day. Seeing most here have no question shelling out RM1k for a 16GB Nexus 7; heck, most of y'all will probably go and justify Asus selling the 16GB Nexus 7 at Rm1099, without question.
