As prison guard, you can rent and stay in the prison hostel. You are allowed to rent out your entire hdb while you stay in prison hostel. That's extra income for those warden with their own hdb.

They can do that? even for PR? hmm.gif

Abit hard as government is narrow down the FTs application in SG, but still depend on which field you intend to go for.

only Singaporean and PR can buy HDB.

I visited one of the hostel, it seem to me those who stay there also have standby role in case of emergency.

Can someone provide me some advice on my current situation?

I am a fresh in the accounting/finance field and am considering whether to enter SG or KL to work (not from KL so which means I have to move there if I were to choose KL). Have relatives in both places so accommodation will not be an issue for me.

SG SME (difficult to get into Big 4) vs KL Big 4 accounting firms (provided I can get into one)
Which path will you recommend and why?

I have been offered an intern in one of the SG Big 4 previously but TEP (Training Employment Pass) got rejected because:
1. ACCA is nt recognised by MOM (WHAT?? sweat.gif )
2. My degree is recognised but I have graduated and not a current student anymore (maybe they need a current student for intern purposes)

FT application i mean is Foreign Talents Application for Permit in SG. mean SG government is trying to reduce number of foreign worker in SG, you still can apply, chances is there, but take times.

Just wanted to highlight to those who want to convert their Msia driving license to Singapore license, thinking to give Kopi for getting the JPJ extract without kena blacklist? Forget about it, your $$ will go to dustbin. I saw from some forum and got a contact named Acoy, is a lady who work in JPJ ( She claimed) and asked for $250 to get this done. After few month go online check, still kena blacklist and when asked, they don't bother your call. You can get it done yourself by paying RM10 only for the same thing. I think blacklist is unavoidable.

Why are you still bothering with an intern position if you have already graduated? Out of desperation to get a foot in the (singapore) door?

Everyone says that if you get the extract in anywhere other than JB, then your Malaysia license won't be blacklisted. No idea how true this is though. In any case Thursday I go back KL gonna get the extract then see how la. Personally since we can drive in MY using SG license anyway so I don't care either way whether kena blacklist or not.

QUOTE(iamsovain @ Nov 20 2012, 01:57 PM)
what u mean? just convert the msia driving lesen to sg lesen, why need gip kopi? i thought all done in SG?

Give kopi is the Malaysia side. Keyword on 'convert.' Some ppl want to 'convert' to SG license but still keep the MY license active, so they give kopi to runners at JPJ JB to just give the extract of license without blacklisting in system.

Before u can get SG license from LTA, u need to provide JPJ extract of your Msia driving information. That's why they call it 'convert license'. Officially at JPJ, if you do it the normal way, just pay RM10 to get the extract, then you bring it to SG LTA to get your new SG license. But upon getting the extract, you are officially terminating your Malaysia license/blacklisted. But there are some people say can get JPJ runner to bypass this so that you can keep your msia license as well. I learned my lesson now...so just to warn you guys out there don't fall for the same problem wasting your money.

That's what they offered because the graduate position's headcount is full.

What I mean is, why did you accept a low-paying intern position? Is it because you are desperate to get a foot in the door and think you can 'convert' your internship to a proper contract/full time job later?

Want to get an experience on working life in SG's Big 4 while I complete my ACCA studies there. Normally they do offer a proper contract after that, and that's the only offer I received so far.

Will you be doing your ACCA full time in a proper learning institution in SG or self study? If it is the former, you will prolly be getting a proper student pass and perhaps better chances of applying for internship?

Anyway, in the current climate, I reckon it is gonna be hard to get into entry level jobs, especially when a fresh grad in a mid-tier or small local CPA firm only gets like $2k-$2.4k

Not sure if I am allowed to post room ads here for 1 Master Bedroom in Bukit Batok.... Have posted in most room rental sites in Singapore but most of the time received calls from Indians, Myammar, PRC nationals...  yawn.gif

Anyway, I am moving out from my current place soon and need to find replacement for the Master Room. Below are the room details.

If anyone interested, please contact me Doris at 9689 3935 / 98588205

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't go through this entire thread, so I'll just quickly ask here.

What's the best way to transfer SGD back to MY? So far I've always just withdrawn S$1000 notes from the bank in SG, then bring back to KL and exchange at the money changer, then deposit into bank. But if it's for larger amounts, handling so much cash at once in KL is a bit... unadvisable perhaps.

Is there an easier way to do it without getting raped by exchange rates?

Can't do full time, need to enroll at least 3 papers. I only have 1 paper left.. Can't do intern because ACCA not recognised, better off with a full time job but times are tough now like you mentioned.
