Can someone provide me some advice on my current situation?

I am a fresh in the accounting/finance field and am considering whether to enter SG or KL to work (not from KL so which means I have to move there if I were to choose KL). Have relatives in both places so accommodation will not be an issue for me.

SG SME (difficult to get into Big 4) vs KL Big 4 accounting firms (provided I can get into one)
Which path will you recommend and why?

I have been offered an intern in one of the SG Big 4 previously but TEP (Training Employment Pass) got rejected because:
1. ACCA is nt recognised by MOM (WHAT?? sweat.gif )
2. My degree is recognised but I have graduated and not a current student anymore (maybe they need a current student for intern purposes)

Why are you still bothering with an intern position if you have already graduated? Out of desperation to get a foot in the (singapore) door?
*
That's what they offered because the graduate position's headcount is full.

What I mean is, why did you accept a low-paying intern position? Is it because you are desperate to get a foot in the door and think you can 'convert' your internship to a proper contract/full time job later?

Want to get an experience on working life in SG's Big 4 while I complete my ACCA studies there. Normally they do offer a proper contract after that, and that's the only offer I received so far.

Will you be doing your ACCA full time in a proper learning institution in SG or self study? If it is the former, you will prolly be getting a proper student pass and perhaps better chances of applying for internship?

Anyway, in the current climate, I reckon it is gonna be hard to get into entry level jobs, especially when a fresh grad in a mid-tier or small local CPA firm only gets like $2k-$2.4k

Can't do full time, need to enroll at least 3 papers. I only have 1 paper left.. Can't do intern because ACCA not recognised, better off with a full time job but times are tough now like you mentioned.

But you just said you still need to do your ACCA? So you not actually an ACCA member.

Yes, still not a member smile.gif

Hi guys,

Just gotten my offer letter from one of the Big 4 prior to CNY break.

Was just wondering normally how long would it take for epass application to be approved from date of submission?
*
Which Big4? I applied but none replied.

Wow, gratz on that! thumbup.gif You must be a graduate from some prestigious uni. I don't even get the chance to fill the application form although I'm an ACCA Affiliate
