currently i'm using maxis postpaid. if i work in SG, i would like to maintain the phone number because many contact list. what is the cheapest option for me?

2) is it possible to convert the number to SG service providers?
3) any websites that I can refer to about this issue?
4) how about you guys working in SG. how do you manage this?

i mainly maintain this number to call/receive Malaysian numbers. of course if it's bundled with internet service is better because i'm using smartphone.

i tried to google this issue but i can't find a good reference.

thanks!

port your number over to umobile prepaid.. no roaming charges in SG.
and RM1 gives you 3 days access. RM100 gives u 300 days.

but bare in mind, Umobile coverage is not that good in somepart of KL.
But the coverage in JB is very very good. and its not expensive to use in SG.

last time i use my maxis prepaid, 1 min = Rm5. u mobile 1 min = RM0.5 (outgoing and incoming same price)

I'm not too sure if you could port to prepaid but if you could, then u can pay a fee to keep the prepaid active for 1 year without the need of topping up. I'm dong the same for my DIGI.

It'll be cheaper to sign up a plan with the sg telcos, especially if you want 3G connection.

anyone queuing for the iphone 5 this friday?
*
Nope. I'm just going to update my 4S to iOS6 tomorrow and get 99% of the iPhone 5 experience.

Then if you swap out the glass back panel for an aluminum or magnesium one, you get a bit of the tactile experience, thinness and weight savings as well. I found a website that sells wood replacements for the back panel. Need to find one that does it in metal.

Making it longer doesn't do anything for me. It has to be wider as well to accommodate bigger fonts, website spacing etc... ie. the shortcomings of the current screen size.

I just hope iOS 6 is better at corporate email. Hope it word wraps text in emails when there are graphic attachments. Right now it shrinks any graphic to the width of the very narrow screen and shrinks the text along with it down to a ridiculously unreadable size. And when you zoom in, it doesn't rewrap the text. Ridiculous and unforgiveable for a business phone.

And hopefully it allows the collapsing of email folders when you need to file emails away or find filed emails. Currently all my hundreds of nested folders are irreversibly expanded and it's a damn pain to scroll over every folder to do any filing.

Simple and basic features in Android and BB, but in Apple... No wonder I hate the phone.

It's something like this: http://iphone4parts.com/shop/iphone-4s-par...ipfes8a53g98830

Quite easy to replace if you have the proper pentalobe screwdriver for the 2 screws at the bottom. If anybody finds a shop in SG that does the replacement, please let me know. If you want to organise a group buy online, I'm in as well.

Would like to seek for advice regarding to my issue.

I've made a mistake where when I sign the contract, I forgot to clarify on the CPF thingy and basic salary. What I understand is that in some company, they'll pay the CPF in cash to those holding work permit, in my case, an EP holder. Now, the company thought that the salary I demanded are including the CPF which basically means that the basic salary that I expected are reduced.

I'm currently under probation. Is it possible to revise this after my probation period?

please read...he said that the CPF portion is paid to him in cash...not to CPF board.
so basically, what he means is he wanted SGD X but instead of the basic being SGD X, he got SGD Y + % for CPF which = SGD X

just curious, how much is the %? 5, 9 or 16?
so when one converts to PR, how will the calculation be then?

Yes I know...that's y i said CPF contribution...which means this contribution/amt goes to the CPF fund...not in cash...then again even this portion of CPF in cash...its not even a must...
Also by doing this...u will be paying more income tax due to that you didn't have CPF contribution therefore that 'CPF relief' you're not eligible..rather than having the company to actually contribute to the CPF board directly. I know the relief is not much...but something better than nothing..

Medical test is depend on the company, there will arrange for you, unless they ask you to do it yourself and claim the bill from company, normally medical result take about 3-4 working days.

but with the CPF paid in cash, it is just an indirect way of saying your basic pay is higher.
with a higher pay, of course you will be require to pay more tax...simple logic.
only time it will hurt is when you apply for PR and get approved.
changing job might slightly be a concern if the new company does not pay you the extra cash and increase is based on basic of previous job.

relief or not, if u are on EP, there is no relief so for non-PR, of course it will be better to have it since it is extra cash in the end.
