QUOTE(SONYSONY @ Sep 18 2012, 01:04 PM) currently i'm using maxis postpaid. if i work in SG, i would like to maintain the phone number because many contact list. what is the cheapest option for me? port your number over to umobile prepaid.. no roaming charges in SG.2) is it possible to convert the number to SG service providers? 3) any websites that I can refer to about this issue? 4) how about you guys working in SG. how do you manage this? i mainly maintain this number to call/receive Malaysian numbers. of course if it's bundled with internet service is better because i'm using smartphone. i tried to google this issue but i can't find a good reference. thanks! and RM1 gives you 3 days access. RM100 gives u 300 days. but bare in mind, Umobile coverage is not that good in somepart of KL. But the coverage in JB is very very good. and its not expensive to use in SG. last time i use my maxis prepaid, 1 min = Rm5. u mobile 1 min = RM0.5 (outgoing and incoming same price) |

QUOTE But you do work for keppel... He doesn't work for Keppel la... So i guess you in the downstream side of the business. QUOTE(mou yok @ Sep 27 2012, 11:37 PM) no, only Waiter ! >.< easiest and cheapest way to get accomodation is through friends and relative. if you have friends or friend's relative that live in SG. you can get it cheaper than market rate and skip the agent fees.if captain can get 2000SGD per month. mine 1500SGD per month, and they DO NOT PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION, only one meals when you are on duty. so, i guess: rental = 500-600 (for single) transport = 100 eat = 300 misc = 100 so, basically i thk i am able to save 500SGD per month but wt no entertainment at all and makan roti everyday? in the end i rejected the offer Added on September 27, 2012, 11:39 pm ohh u work in singapore now? may i knw which industry you are in? and, how to find accommodation in singapore? via website? Added on September 27, 2012, 11:40 pm but the expenses in singapore also very high...especially the rentals... can get higher salary n better employee benefits in macau! |

QUOTE(tkhoo @ Sep 29 2012, 09:20 AM) I have checked with someone that HDB parking is between $60-90 depend on location. I still in calculation whether drive all the way from JB or stay but I need car for my job you dont have to check the car park price if you are driving a Malaysian car. Foreign vehicle are not allowed to purchase HDB car park anyway.Added on September 29, 2012, 9:22 am Thanks guys..... If you really need the car, then the only choice for you is to stay in JB. actually, staying in JB is not that bad. Depends on your working hours. If you work from 9:30 to 6:30, you can leave home at 8:30am and u still can reach office in time. only pain is when going back. it might take 2 hours. (I am talking about Causeway) If use 2nd link, then no jam but prepare to pay super high toll everyday. |

QUOTE(tkhoo @ Sep 29 2012, 07:47 PM) Thanks bro. May I know you stay in JB too? Did you know what is best time to start journey from JB to Ubi area? I checked at google map and it show Woodland is half of the distance compared with using Tuas. Thanks again. I start work at 8am. I normally leave home around 6:30 or 6:45am. last time my work place is in AMK. start 9am. i will normally leave at 7:45am. won't be late.if you are driving, spare additional 30mins at the time, then you won't be late unless some cock up stuff happens (like immigration system down, major accident at SLE). QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Sep 29 2012, 08:03 PM) my work place is Tampines.. ain't that further compare to his?QUOTE(tailtwist @ Sep 29 2012, 08:04 PM) I believed Tampines is further lo.. |

QUOTE(tkhoo @ Sep 30 2012, 09:23 AM) Hi bro, that was very good info for me. May I know around what time should I start my journey by car from JB to Ubi by using Woodland if I start my work at 9am? From your advise is around 7:30am, right? Thanks. i suggest you to try early a bit. i go by bike. last time when i haven get my PR, my experience is before 7:45, the car jam at causeway is very bad, but after 7:45, no cars at causeway edi. so if i late for work for eg, i wake up at 7:45, i leave home at 8am, i can reach AMK before 9. but if by bike, i can't because the queue is a lot longer. But for cars, around 6:40-7am is very jam. now everyday when i go causeway, the car queue is longer than bike.Just checked and show Tampines was further from Ubi. Mean now you work there and start work at 8am and you start your journey at 6:30am? May I know by car or motorbike? Thanks. so you need to do some testing on your own.also try to keep your self to the left counters. because the left side, there is only 1 lane (8 counters open) and you won't jam at the kastam side. right side got 20 counters. so you will be jamming at the kastam on the right. the left side you will be sharing with bikes and bikes go to different kastam counters. so you save time there. PS: the nightmare is when going back. the queue at causeway is freaking long. no issue for bikes, its the same for us. but for cars, i think u at least need to queue 1 hour+ to get out of Singapore. Malaysia side sometimes need to queue, sometimes dont. QUOTE(tailtwist @ Sep 30 2012, 12:12 PM) i stay not in JB town lo. i stay near Johor Jaya area. i travel around 55-60KM 1 way. 1 day around 110-120km. actually when you get use to it, its not that bad. i work 12 hours per day somemore. start work 8am, finish 8pm. i wake up around 6, leave home at 6:30. reach office 7:50 like that. go back 8pm, reach home around 10:30 (including dinner). watch a 1 hour drama then sleep. not bad ma... QUOTE(vincentwmh @ Oct 25 2012, 10:02 AM) OBJECTION yeah.... JB is not that bad. agree with u.Avoid clubbing in JB. I gave up the very first day i resided in JB. reason:- not safe Also the travel time is not that bad either. they keep saying waste 2-3 hours a day. but they never calculate the time spend even when you stay in SG. For example. You stay in Sengkang, work in raffles place, you need to spend around 45 mins MRT ride. If you stay in JB, lets say u ride a bike, you only need around 1 1/2 hours to reach office (sometimes earlier). in total you only spend 45 mins more compare to your SG counterpart, but in return, you get cheap rent, cheap petrol, freedom to move around. and » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(gseed87 @ Nov 2 2012, 10:27 AM) But all the broadband i see come with 2 years contract. Do i need to provide anything to sign up the plan? So far i haven't collect my employment pass, only with IPA. Telco doesn't accept IPA. Only banks do. you can try prepaid mobile internet. I believe passport should be good enough for those. |

Is someone who have EP will enjoy greater benefits i.e. applying for broadband service, telecommunication promotions, searching for house for rent, etc.?? |

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Nov 27 2012, 11:25 PM) Hi all, have some question regarding tax for EP holder... I just changed to new company in Oct. So IRAS has taxed me for my income from previous employer, so will I get taxed as non-resident rate (<183 days in SG) for my Nov and Dec income? I am not sure, but for my case, My employer didn't tax me anything because it shows my income below 20k since i left the company in January.Thanks. They do provide me with an IRAS letter showing my income for year 2012 but no tax deduction was made. I work in that company more than 2 years though. |
