So should i update officially? Isnt meddling with the developer settings void the warranty ?
To understand the issue with void of warranty:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/unlock-bootloader/http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/Let's take on following three(3) Sony Mobiles points of view of the void of warranty
QUOTE
Please note that you may void the warranty of your phone and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader. See your phone’s warranty statement for details.
....
Certain content on your phone may also be inaccessible due to the removal of DRM security keys and the secure user data partition while unlocking the boot loader. We advise you to create backups, since user data, settings and accounts will be removed.
With all of the above in mind, you should only unlock the boot loader of your phone if you are an advanced user with good knowledge of the technology and risks involved. We recommend standard users not to unlock the boot loader, as it is not needed. We are proud to deliver great phone experiences through our rigorously tested and official software releases.
If you are fully aware of the risks involved, and have a deep knowledge about these technologies, continue to the unlock boot loader instructions page. You should be aware that unlocking the boot loader will not give you root access. The only way to get root access is to flash a custom ROM with root access.
1) unlock the boot loader will void the warranty - if you do this, you will void your phone warranty. So, do not do it.
2) unlock the boot loader will remove DRM security keys - unique DRM keys are created for your phone. Unlocking it will permanently remove them. They won't be recovered by firmware update. Without DRM keys, your stock Sony multimedia players like Walkman app and Movies app will no longer play any DRM-locked media content.
3) unlock the boot loader will not give any root access - To gain a root access, you need to have a customized ROM that has been rooted. However, this statement is no longer valid. You can gain root access without even unlocking the bootloader and/or flashing a custom ROM via fastboot commands. This is made possible with a root script via ADB commands, busybox and su (Linux super user mode program). No fastboot commands are used at all. Busybox is needed to provide the system tools required to root the phone. A hacker named bin4ry has made this possible. See the link below...

http://www.hackmyandroid.com/what-is-adb-h...r-computer/1681 Will this new root method void the warranty? Well, no if we rely on Sony Mobiles insistence of unlocking the bootloader to void the warranty since the new method doesn't even unlock the bootloader or even flashing a custom rooted ROM.
If there is a failure in this root method, you can still use SEUS/Sony PC Companion to update to the stock firmware without any trouble which it will unroot your phone (Repair option). Please, do a backup properly before proceed.
Anyway, I will put a disclaimer on this since Sony Mobile hasn't provide any news regarding this new root method.
**Update**QUOTE
Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the Product due to accident, modification or adjustment, acts of God or damage resulting from liquid.
http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.co...hones_US_12.pdfThe phrase "Modification and adjustment" is too broad in the meaning. Do we consider installing an app as an act of modification/adjustment to the phone?
Note: how to show it unmodified without unlocking the bootloader? Revert to its stock firmware. But how? Using Flashtool in root mode:
1) Use the new root method to gain root access without unlocking the bootloader
2) Use Flashtool to flash the stock firmware
You phone will be good as new with unmodified stock without unlocking its bootloader
