Cyberjaya aims for 21% carbon footprint reduction by 2020
‘Go green’ gaining momentum in the country’s Silicon Valley
FRIDAY, MAY 03, 2013 - 14:04

CYBERVIEW Sdn Bhd, the landowner and development spearhead of Cyberjaya, hosted “Powering Green in Cyberjaya Malaysia” to present the city’s green initiatives at Cyberview Resort & Spa on April 29.

Cyberview said Cyberjaya is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 21% by 2020.

Deputy secretary-general of the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry Datuk Nor’ Aini Abdul Wahab presented Cyberjaya’s Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF) to the main stakeholders of Cyberjaya – Cyberview, Sepang Municipal Council, Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd and Multimedia Development Corporation.

LCCF is a carbon dioxide baseline report prepared by the Malaysian Institute of Planners and championed by the ministry and Malaysian Green Technology Corporation to study the possibilities and draw up action plans to reduce carbon emissions in Cyberjaya.

Cyberview acting managing director Izatul Arini said Cyberjaya aims to shape itself into a green city with more than 30% of its land reserved for infrastructure and green lung areas. The city was declared a pioneer green city in 2010.

Izatul said Cyberview was collaborating with other stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions by 21% in 2020 by implementing the low carbon emission strategies laid out in the LCCF. This is by reducing carbon footprints in the urban environment, transportation, infrastructure and buildings.

“We have carried out some initiatives such as tree planting, installing solar panels on bus shelters, GreenNomad kiosks, and will install composting machines. These efforts will not be possible without the support of like-minded companies,” she said.

During the event, SP Setia Bhd, Prima Management Sdn Bhd, Setia Haruman and Multimedia Development Corporation were acknowledged for their contributions to the tree planting programme, under which 1,500 trees were planted along a 3km area at Persiaran Multimedia.

More green projects are expected to be completed in the coming years including Masjid Cyberjaya by Cyberview, Setia Eco Glades by SP Setia, The Place by MCT Bhd and Centrus Mall by Setia Haruman.

Not recommended, the quality of food getting terrible, slow service. And to top it, customer service sucks. No accountable supervisor/manager around. They (Lok Yoon) even cut the soup for chicken rice, can you imagine such lousy chicken rice shop that don't serve soup with rice ? And worse, they serve when initially open till about last week. When I ask why no soup serve, their staff (can't get anyone - manager / person in-charge, unbelievable) just inform us (yes, the CUSTOMER) that it's their boss direction to CUT COST. Terrible, terrible service with just about half year operating in Cyberjaya, already started to such cheap direction, and have the gut to tell customer that their boss cutting cost by not serving soup with chicken rice ? What a lousy JOKE.

I'll not patron this shop any more after such terrible experience, and it's not cheap eating there - RM9.90 + 5% service charge for a plate of pork belly rice, with NO soup served.

smile.gif, normally go to Dengkil for chinese food. There's BK (burger king) at the same building with Lok Yoon (which I'd just remove from my list - won't be patronizing them anymore) or Restoran Rasa Seri Alamanda @ Glomac (white rice + 1 meat + vege @ rm6.00, with free WiFi)

Dengkil or SK Eguine park, both can find cheap and nice chinese food. Cyberjaya still long way to go, we need cheaper food around the area, now it is very expensive.

Maybe because Dengkil is just a small area, not even qualify as a city if not mistaken, just small town. Is like you go eat at kampung area sure get cheaper price than eating in city area. Cyberjaya is kinda far from other places so people who work here will force to eat expensive food if there is limitation time of lunch break.

If anyone interested to do business in food, providing cheap "zap fan" in cyberjaya will definitely make a fortune, that's my 2cent.

i guess due to:
1) high rental;
2) low volume;
3) high salary (expatriate)???
4) new (need high profit to cover capital cost)???
