I know one man from Petronas who worked his way up as a painter to a Dril Sup if the news encourages you.

That's was like 20 yrs ago..it's already hard to climb the ladder without a proper academic qualification, but you know in O&G anything can happen if you are strong and determined enough.

can see some people wearing their lanyard with those new companies when eating lunch/dinner outside. koh loh mee still nice taste. seafood good. but am a bit disappointed as those new companies hiring such people... same like my Brunei's colleague sharing with me about situation in brunei the slow pace...

things are more rapid developed compared to last year when was there.

good thing was i pick-up 2 liter alcohol as usual biggrin.gif
able to by chance coincident met with a OCTG premium connection technical advisor who just back from rig on sharing his recent encountered. his next trip is to Egypt after labuan...

Hmm, I know Ekofisk field has a long production life and it's still in production and has a very interesting reservoir parameters and field development.
Quite a lot of literature regarding the field exploitation at http://www.onepetro.org/
Hope your uni have access to the website, good luck smile.gif

p/s it is a challenging field, but plenty of materials at onepetro last time I check.

Just a normal chit-chat interview with the manager, no technical , just want to know about u and whether u are suit for this kind of office job anot. Since you are grad, most probably they will go through ur cert and transcript and ask question from there. Working life in Aker as wat i know is pretty relax, u get work life balance there, stay in office most of the time nothing hands-on, just make sure u like this kind of Job.
Good Luck

According to a friend who's working there, Aker Eng. doesn't have new major projects coming in, at only some ongoing projects that coming to an end. Maybe early next year. Currently the environment is quite relaxed but once new projects are awarded, just be prepared to work long hours or maybe weekends tongue.gif .

I met Mr. Rosli once (Structural HOD) during a seminar. Nice chap. Normally interview for grad eng is not that difficult. Show your enthusiasm, be yourself and don't lie. You'll be fine.

The office will be at Pavilion Tower. You'll find yourself going back home late as you would normally roam at nearby shopping complexes after work. Can do other things during weekends tongue.gif

There will be no any test for Grad.Eng post as far as i know, not in physically i mean. They might ask u sm general technical ques(Oral, perhaps) based on your past working experience even it is not OnG related. So, i would suggest you to revise your past experience in the previous company, some basic knowledge on that would be fine, they just wanna know if u have learn anything from there.
Well, it all depend on your interviewer, but since u are going in as Grad.Eng there are nothing much technical to test you, so, just revise any of ur past experience will do. Nothing tricky.

p/s not sure for the pay and package. I heard from a friend who got in during 2010/2011 was <3k. Not sure about now.

make sure you still remember the basics of Statics.

do you still remember how to draw and/or interpret 'Shear (V)' and 'Bending Moment (M)' diagrams?

One of the local AC was in July. If you have not received a rejection email after phone interview you will be on a standby list for a year.
Till then you will have to wait.
Application processing is subjective time wise ... could be from 2 weeks up to 11 months for AC invitation after phone interview.
AC is around the Asia Pac region so Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam or Australia or where ever is the next AC, not only in Malaysia.
So make sure you're working in the mean time because the waiting is extremely long ...
Good luck.
